Abstract

The clip (1), molded from a plastic material, consists of a base (2) with projecting front (3), rear (4) and additional (7) walls forming two notches (5, 8) to engage with the edges of an auxiliary lens and a main spectacle lens. The inner surface (6) of the auxiliary lens notch (5) is inclined at an angle of some 80 degrees to the rear wall (4) of the notch.  The present invention relates to the embodiment and manufacture of eyewear (complementary or additional faces) which are applied temporarily to glasses.

 We currently distinguish on the market two families of complementary faces. The first family comprising the complementary faces applying in one piece to the glasses (the right lens and the left lens being interconnected by a piece: bar or nose) and the second family comprising the complementary faces applying in two parts on the glasses, the right lens and the left lens being dissociated.

 The marketed products only allow one or the other of the complementary face systems to be produced and therefore leave no choice to the purchaser and carrier, as regards the aesthetics and the handling (installation and removal) of the complementary side on the glasses. The purchaser's glasses can also, depending on their conception or design, impose one system rather than another. In addition, the manufacture of complementary faces traditionally requires either holes in the glass or a total or partial creasing around the glass or even the clipping of parts on the glass.

 The device according to the invention makes it possible to remedy these drawbacks and therefore to manufacture a complementary face without drilling, creasing or clipping on the glass and leaving the choice to the purchaser between producing a complementary face in one piece or in two pieces.  end with a plastic insert into which the upper part of the two glasses will be inserted and glued. These two plastic inserts have a plastic hook on the back for fitting to the glasses.

A second, smaller plastic insert with a plastic hook on the back will be pressed in and glued to the temporal part of each of the two glasses.

 To make a complementary face in two pieces, the front bar will not be used and three small plastic inserts each with a plastic hook on the back, will be pressed and glued around each of the two glasses.

 The glue used has been specifically studied for the assembly of plastic inserts and organic glasses (CR39 or polycarbonate type) and will be supplied and delivered drop-by-drop.

 The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention: FIG. 1 shows in section one of the two plastic inserts situated at the ends of the front bar forming part of a complementary face in one piece (fig. 3 and 4).

Figure 2 shows in section a small plastic insert forming part of a complementary face in one piece. In this case, it is pressed in and glued to each of the two glasses on the temporal side (fig. 3 and 4). It is also used for the manufacture of a complementary face in two parts.

In this case, three small plastic inserts are pressed in and glued around each of the two glasses (fig. 5).

 With reference to these drawings, the device comprises, in order to produce, according to a first choice, a complementary face in one piece (fig. 3 and 4), on the one hand a front bar (3) connecting the two glasses (4a and 4b) terminated at both ends by a plastic insert (1) into which the upper part of each of the two glasses (4a and 4b) will be inserted and glued with a specifically studied glue (8) to the internal walls (5), (6) and ( 7) of the plastic insert (1) and on the other hand, two small plastic inserts (2) into which will be inserted the temporal sides of each of the two glasses (4a and 4b) and glued with glue (8) to the walls internal (5), (6) and (7) of the plastic insert (2).

 The plastic inserts (1) and (2) have a hook (9) on the rear for fitting to the glasses (10).

 To place the complementary face in one piece (fig. 3 and 4) on the glasses (10), you must separate the two glasses (4a and 4b) by playing on the spring effect of the front bar (3).

 To make, according to a second choice, a complementary face in two pieces (fig. 5), the front bar (3) will not be used, three small plastic inserts (2) will be pressed and glued on each of the two glasses (4a and 4b ) with the adhesive (8) on the internal walls (5), (6) and (7) of the plastic insert (2).

 To put the complementary face in two pieces (fig. 5) on the glasses (10), you have to play on the spring effect of the plastic inserts (2).

 By way of nonlimiting example, the plastic insert (1) located at the end of the front bar (3), will have dimensions of the order of 3 mm on the face, of

 3.5 mm in profile and 5 mm high. The small plastic insert (2) will have dimensions of the order of 1 mm on the face, 3.5 mm in profile and 4 mm in height. The device according to the invention is particularly intended for the manufacture of complementary faces in one piece or in two pieces according to the choice of the purchaser.
