Abstract

The production method consists in joining the pennants (2) on a support (1) using a stitch (15) which is created by overcasting said support, along the entire length thereof.  The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a pennant garland. It also relates to the garland obtained by the process in question.

 The garlands are most often made from a bias which serves as a support and the pennants are regularly inserted into the bias and fixed as the stitching of the latter.

 The present invention provides a garland whose design is simplified, allowing in particular the use of a prefabricated support, that is to say a support that is commonly found in commerce.

 In addition, this support can be chosen from different types of possible supports, which allows the original characteristics of certain types of supports to be transposed to garlands, and to benefit, especially for garlands intended for outdoor decorations, from the effects that 'they produce when they swing.

 The manufacturing method according to the invention consists in securing the flags on a support which is for example in the form of a cord or braid, by means of an overlock which is produced by an overcast operation of said support.

 Still according to the invention, the overcasting operation is preferably carried out over the entire length of the support, forming a kind of sheath.

 The garland obtained by the method according to the invention thus consists of a support in the form of a cord or braid for example, which support is wrapped in a kind of sheath produced by overcasting and the pennants are fixed by said sheath.

 Still according to the invention, the support is preferably made of a lead braid, made of polyester type material. This type of support has the advantage of offering a certain inertia which gives the garland a calmer character, a kind of nonchalance.

 Still according to the invention, the pennants themselves are preferably cut from a nonwoven polyester fabric which can also be fireproofed depending on the destination of the garland.

 This type of fabric has the advantage, for garlands placed outdoors, of making them quieter.

 This type of polyester fabric lends itself particularly well to computer-aided cutting and this cutting technique allows all the fantasies in terms of the shapes likely to be given to these pennants.

 Still according to the invention, the garland may include complex pennants consisting for example of a pair of pennants which overlap each other, one of them masking all or part of the other.

 The invention will be further detailed with the aid of the following description and of the appended drawings given by way of indication and in which: FIG. 1 generally represents a garland of pennants whose shape of these is simply triangular; - Figure 2 shows an enlarged section of the support consisting of a lead braid; - Figure 3 shows a section of the lead braid, wrapped in the sheath produced by overcasting; - Figure 4 is a section of the support at a flag; - Figure 5 shows a portion of the garland showing a longitudinal section of the lead braid as shown in Figure 2, also showing the braid wrapped in its sheath as shown in Figure 3, and showing a portion of a pennant attached by the overcast sheath; - Figure 6 shows an example of a flag obtained by means of a computer-assisted cut, and which is fixed by the sheath, on the support; - Figure 7 shows an embodiment of a complex pennant consisting in fact of two pennants, one of which covers most of the other, masking an orifice made on the latter.

 The garland shown in Figure 1 comprises a support 1 whose ends are free and used to allow its attachment to hooks or the like depending on use, which support receives over its length, a multitude of flags 2 whose nature and shapes are chosen according to the tastes and the destination of the garland.

 The support 1 is in fact made up of a braid whose section is shown in FIG. 2 and which also appears in longitudinal section in FIG. 5. This braid 11 is of the leaded type. It comprises a central wire 12 on which are arranged small parts 13 made of heavy material of the lead type or

 other. These parts form a sort of cluster, and they are secured for example by pinching, the central wire 2 and the assembly is wrapped in a braid 14 made of rot-proof polyester material.

 This support 1 constitutes the structural element of the garland; it is it which is fixed at each of its ends to tension the garland when it is installed in a suitable place, either a performance hall or in the street, outdoors.

 The flag 2 is secured to the support 1 by means of a simple overcasting 15, on said support 1. This overcasting is preferably carried out over the entire length of the support and serves to fix from place to place, over the length of the support, the pennants 2.

 Figure 3 shows the support 1 consisting of the braid 14 and its sheath-shaped envelope 15 obtained by overcasting.

 FIG. 4 shows the assembly of the flag 2, on the braid 14 by means of the sheath 15. It is noted that the sheath is tight but free on the support 1 and in particular on the braid 14, as are the flags 2.

 This operation of installing the flags on the support 1 is particularly quick and convenient since it suffices to present the sewing edge of the flag on the support and to overcast.

 FIG. 6 shows the possibilities offered in terms of shapes for the pennants 2, by means of the computer-aided cutting of the fabric. The flag 2 shown in FIG. 6 is in the shape of a heart and it is fixed, still by overcasting, in two places, on the support 1.

 FIG. 7 shows another embodiment of a complex pennant consisting in fact of two pennants 21 and 22 fixed together to the support 1 directly by the sheath 15. One of the pennants, the pennant 22 for example, masks the pennant 21 partly, closing the orifice 23 arranged in the flag 21, the two flags 21 and 22 being for example of a different color which causes an original effect when the flags fly in the wind.

 - CLAIMS - 1. - Method of manufacturing a garland of pennants, characterized in that it consists in securing said pennants (2) on a support (1) by means of an overlock which is produced by overcasting said support.  2.-The manufacturing method according to claim 1, characterized in that the overcasting forms a sheath (15) over the entire length of the support (1).  3.-garland obtained by the method according to any one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that it consists of a support (1) in the form of cord or braid, -a sheath (15) produced by overcasting directly on said support, and of flags (2) fixed by said sheath.  4. - Garland according to claim 3, characterized in that the support (1) consists of a lead braid, made of polyester material.  5. - Garland according to any one of claims 3 or 4, characterized in that the pennants (2) are cut from a nonwoven polyester fabric.
