Ce réservoir distribue la vapeur proportionnellement au régime du moteur grâce-à un robinet (F) couplé à l'accélérateur. Dans le cas d'une chaudière, le robinet sera couplé de façon similaire au système de réglage. La vapeur est amenée à l'extrémité du pot de détente par un tube terminé par un vaporisateur (G). Par ailleurs, le pot de détente comporte, dans sa partie. interne, une spirale de tôle (H) destinée à une récupération optimale de la chaleur issue des gaz d'échappement.
