Abstract

Description

The present invention relates to a bag made of a flexible material,

  preferably plastic, containing a bulky material, in particular

  of soil and which is equipped with a carrying handle.

  A bag, in the first definition of this term, is a container which is open from the top, that is to say which has an orifice therein making it possible to introduce and

to evacuate the contents of the bag.

  Generally when you want to equip a bag with carrying handles, these are arranged at the opening of the bag so as to keep the opening facing upwards. These are normally two handles arranged on either side of the opening, as in the document

FR.2.738.002.

  By extension, the concept of a bag has extended to a container which is completely closed around the content without there being necessarily an opening for the evacuation of the latter. The user can do this himself

  opening by tearing or cutting the bag locally.

  For example in document EP.0.677.449, it is a bag intended to contain fruit. This bag is made from a substantially cylindrical net, the ends of which are closed after the fruit has been introduced. This bag has a longitudinal handle which is fixed at the two closing ends of the bag. Preferably fixing the handle and closing the two ends

of the bag is done by welding.

  For example, in document FR 2,692,868, it is a bag made of paper, intended to contain pulverulent hydraulic binders. This bag has the overall shape of a rectangular parallelepiped. It has a first handle arranged along the small upper face of the bag, which normally corresponds to the opening area. It also includes a second handle arranged transversely on a large face of the bag in the lower part thereof. This second handle facilitates the carrying of the bag during the pouring of the pulverulent hydraulic binders through the opening located at the level of the first handle. None of the solutions recommended in the above examples can be adapted, under good conditions, to the carrying of a bag made of a flexible material, preferably plastic, containing a bulky material, in particular potting soil, which bag is shaped generally parallelepipedic and closed on two sides opposed by zones

transverse welding.

  The goal set by the applicant is to propose a solution for

  the adaptation of a carrying handle on a bag of this type.

  Typically, the handle is arranged transversely, o10 between the two weld zones, the two ends of said handle being

  attached to the two large opposite sides of the bag.

  When the bag has only one handle, this is disposed substantially at equal distance between the two transverse weld zones, so that its general direction is oriented towards the center of gravity

  In another particular embodiment, a precut is provided to form an opening of the bag, this precut being at an angle to the bag, on the side opposite to the handle or possibly to the two handles. This arrangement is preferred when the bag is equipped with two handles, since the user can more easily unbalance the bag so that the

  container spills out through the opening.

  The presence of the handle (s), arranged transversely, along one of the sides of the bag, between the two transverse welding zones has an additional advantage when the bags are placed in the places of sale. Generally the bags are stored, superimposed, so that it is one of the sides of the bag which is visible and not one of the transverse welding zones. This arrangement allows in particular to place on said

  side of the specific indications to inform the user as to the contents of the bag.

  Under these conditions, it is possible to place at the point of sale, the superimposed bags with the transverse handles facing the user so that the latter can directly grasp the handle to pick up the bag which he

want to buy.

  Advantageously, the two ends of each handle are fixed to the two large opposite faces of the bag by gluing. The bonding area must be sufficient to give the fixing area adequate strength in

depending on the total weight of the bag.

  When at the point of sale, the bags are stored, in particular on pallets, with the handles facing the users, this arrangement has the disadvantage that the said handles can be hung during

  passage of users near the pallet.

  This drawback can, according to the invention, be avoided by means of a transverse handle, formed of a band, the two ends of which are fixed on the two opposite faces of the bag, said band being at a short distance (e) from the side of the bag when it is stored flat. This distance (e) is, in the central portion of the strip, preferably less than 20mm. Thus the strip, forming the handle of the bag, does not protrude significantly beyond the bag itself when the bag is placed on the pallet. However, it is understood that for this band to act as a carrying handle, there must necessarily be a sufficient passage between said band and the side of the bag for the introduction of the hand of the user when carrying the bag. This passage is obtained thanks to the natural deformation of the bag when it is in

carrying position.

  Indeed, since the positioning of the content in the bag is not done under vacuum and that this content is not compacted, it occurs, when the bag is in its carrying position, a displacement by gravity of the content down, that is to say opposite to the carrying handle (s). So the side of the bag which is just below the carrying strap can be pushed back

  to leave the necessary passage for the user's hand.

  The present invention will be better understood on reading the description

  which will be made of several exemplary embodiments of a soil bag with carrying handle (s), illustrated by the appended drawing in which: - Figure 1 is a schematic perspective representation of a first example of a bag equipped with 'only one handle, - Figure 2 is a schematic perspective view of a second example of a bag equipped with two transverse handles and a pre-cut pouring, Figures 3 and 3a are schematic perspective views of a third example of a bag, - Figure 4 is a schematic representation in perspective of bags of the second example stacked on a pallet, - Figure 5 is a schematic representation in section of a fourth example of a bag in the flat lying position and, - The Figure 6 is a schematic sectional representation of the bag of the figure in its carrying position.

  In the description which follows, it will be a question of bags of soil, which

  is a bulky and relatively heavy material. This is of course not exclusive of the invention, any bulky material which may be contained in the bags

  equipped with one or more carrying handles as will be described.

  In Figure 1, there is shown a bag 1 of soil. Such a bag 1 is formed, on an automatic production line, from one or more sheets of plastic material forming an envelope inside which the soil is placed, the closure of this envelope being obtained by welding. Consequently, the bag 1 has a shape which is generally parallelepipedic with two transverse welding zones 2, 3, along the short sides 4, 5 of the rectangle. This bag is completely closed, with no special opening planned. In the case of this first example, it is up to the user to cut into any area of the plastic sheet to

2 5 extract the potting soil.

  The two large opposite faces 6,7 of the bag are naturally curved, due to the presence of soil, from the two short sides 4,5 which form lines of junction of the two said faces 6,7 along the weld zones 2 , 3. On the other hand, along the two large sides 8.9 of the rectangle, the two large faces 6.7

  3 o meet by two rounded sides 10,11.

  Typically, according to the invention, the bag 1 is equipped with a carrying handle 12, which is a band 13, the two end zones 13a, 13b of which are fixed to the two large opposite faces 6, 7 of the bag. 1, said strip 12 having a transverse direction, substantially parallel to the two transverse weld zones 2,3. The fixing of the two faces 6, 7 is preferably carried out using an adhesive coating 14. The total surface of the fixing zones 13a, 13b must be sufficient so that there is no risk of separation from the handle 12 of the bag 1 either by detachment of the adhesive or by rupture of the plastic material constituting the envelope of the bag or the handle. In the first example illustrated in Figure 1, the bag 1 has a single handle 12, which is arranged at an equal distance between the two transverse weld zones 2,3. The general direction of strip 13 therefore passes through the natural center

  gravity of the bag 1, which allows for a balanced carrying.

  In the second example which is illustrated in FIG. 2, it is a bag 15 which has a larger capacity. This bag 15 is equipped with two handles 16,17, similar to the handle 12 which has just been described. These two handles 16,17 are fixed on the same side 18 of the bag, separated from each other and at equal distance from the

  two transverse welding zones 19.20.

  It is, of course, possible to provide two handles on an additional bag

small capacity.

  In addition, a pre-cut 20 is provided in the plastic sheet constituting the bag 15, a pre-cut which will be implemented by the user to clear a discharge opening for the soil. This precut 21 is formed in an angle of the bag, an angle which is along the side 23 of the bag which is

  opposite that 18 o are the two handles 16,17.

  The opening of the bag (figure 2) is delimited by two precut lines

  which meet at a point distant from the weld zone and forming with it

  ci a substantially rectangular triangular flap, one of the precut lines

  being substantially parallel to the longitudinal edge of the bag.

  So, even by grabbing the corner of the bag equipped with the precuts,

does not risk tearing off the bag.

  Preferably, only one of the two side faces of the bag will be equipped

of these precuts.

  Unlike previously known solutions where the corner of the bag

  was torn off, according to the invention, the flap remains integral with the envelope.

  The presence of the two handles 16, 17, in addition to the fact that they allow easier carrying of the bag taking into account its weight and its volume, have the advantage of facilitating the pouring of the soil through the opening formed at the level

of the precut 21.

  The user supports the bag with the handle closest to the pre-cut and then raises the second handle 17 to tilt the bag so

  let the soil pour out through the opening thus formed.

  In the third example, which is illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 3a, the bag 24 has two pairs of handles, each pair being located on the longitudinal edges of the bag, that is to say the edges perpendicular to the zones of

weld 3, 4.

  This embodiment is interesting when the bags are stacked

as shown in figure 4.

  The strips of the handles are situated either parallel to the weld zones as can be seen in particular in FIG. 3, or are no longer substantially parallel to the weld zones, but intersecting therewith as

in Figure 3bis.

  They are located in particular in the corners.

  In one embodiment (not shown), one of the handles is

  parallel to the weld and the other secant.

  At the point of sale, the bags are stored flat, being superimposed on each other to form stacks. FIG. 4 shows the presentation of three stacks 34, 35, 36 of bags 37 with two transverse handles 38, on a pallet 39. The arrangement of the bags 37 on the pallet 39 is such that at the point of sale, the two handles 38 are facing the user so that the latter can take hold of the first bag 37a located on top of the stack 33. The bags 38 of the second stack 34, which are released by the successive withdrawals of bags on the first stack, also have their handle 38 facing the user. It is the same for the third

stacking 36.

  In order to guarantee the correct position of the pallet at the point of sale, it

  may be provided with a mark indicating the face to present to users.

  To avoid the risks of catching the handles which protrude from the bags during their storage, in particular at points of sale, it is preferable, as illustrated in FIG. 5, that the band 40 which forms the handle 41 of the bag 42 surrounds the flank 43 of the bag 42 being as close as possible to the latter. It is certainly preferable that there is between the flank 43 and the band 40 a certain space e, so as to allow the user to grasp the handle 41 to remove the bag 42 from its storage stack, for example , a space e of the order of 1 mm, in the central portion of the band 40. But once the bag 42 has been grasped and placed in the carrying position, as illustrated in FIG. 6, the handle 41

  can completely fulfill its role, without restriction.

  Indeed, the soil 44 which is contained in the bag 42 will, under the effect of its own weight, tend to move towards the side 45 of the bag 42, which is opposite to the side 43 where the handle 41 is located. In doing so, in the upper zone 46 of the bag, close to the first flank 43 where the handle 41 is located, there is in a way a deconcentration of compost which allows the deformation of the flank 43 to clear a passage 46 for the hand of the user at the

handle 41.

Claims (10)

  1. Bag made of a flexible material, preferably plastic, containing a bulky material, in particular potting soil, which bag is of generally parallelepiped shape and closed on two opposite sides by transverse weld zones, characterized in that comprises a carrying handle (12) disposed transversely, between the two welding zones (2, 3), the two ends (13a) of said handle (12) being fixed on   the two large opposite faces (6, 7) of the bag (1).   2. Bag according to claim 1 characterized in that it comprises a single handle (12), which is disposed substantially at equal distance between the two   transverse weld zones (2, 3).   3. Bag according to claim 1 characterized in that it comprises two handles (16, 17) spaced from one another, each handle (16, 17) being equal   distance from the two transverse welding zones (19, 20).   4. Bag according to claim 3 characterized in that it comprises two pairs of handles, each pair being located on the longitudinal edges of the bag,   ie the edges perpendicular to the weld zones (3, 4).   5. Bag according to claim 4 characterized in that the bands which constitute the handles are no longer parallel to the weld zones, but secant to them.   6. Bag according to one of claims 1 to 5 characterized in that it   comprises a precut (21) to form an opening of the bag, this precut being at an angle to the bag, on the side opposite the handle or possibly with both handles.   7. Bag according to claim 6 characterized in that the opening of the bag is delimited by two lines of precuts which meet at a point   away from the weld zone and forming a triangular flap therewith.   8. Bag according to claim 7 characterized in that only one of the two   side faces of the bag will be equipped with these precuts.   9. Bag according to any one of claims 1 to 6 containing a   uncompacted material, characterized in that the handle is formed from a strip, the two ends of which are fixed to the two opposite faces of the bag, said strip being at a short distance from the side (43) of the bag (42) when this one is stored flat.   10. Bag according to claim 9 characterized in that the distance (e) is,   in the central portion of the strip, preferably less than twenty millimeters.
