Abstract

Metallic wire (6) is placed in cutout, and extension of sliding of blade against bed knife allows gripping of wire between upper edge (41) of cutout and cutting edge (20) of bed knife.

Description

The present invention relates to a multi-cutting tool

  uses, usable in particular in the field of gardening or viticulture. The invention more particularly relates to a pruning-type tool essentially intended for cutting small branches

such as branches.

  Cutting tools such as pruning shears fall into two categories according to their cutting system, pruning shears

  anvil and pruning shears.

  An anvil pruner has a blade that crushes the branch to be cut against a sturdy blade, or anvil. This cutting system is very powerful, however the cutting is less precise, also, the anvil pruners are reserved for cutting dead wood. A straight blade pruner has a thin, cutting blade

  which slides, just like the scissor blades, on a counter

  blade, or support blade, solid and not cutting. The blade and the counter blade are curved, they are respectively convex and concave, in order to avoid escaping from the branch to be cut. Straight blade pruners allow for clean cuts, and they are

  therefore recommended for cutting green wood.

  The support blade is used to hold the branch to be cut so that it is the straight blade which makes the cut when coming to the

  meeting the support blade, and crossing it.

  The blunt blade is flat, generally of substantially triangular shape, and its cutting angle is very closed. On the other hand, the support blade is thick and its cutting angle makes

practically a right angle.

  In gardening and viticulture work, in particular during trellising operations, it is sometimes necessary to have to cut metallic or similar wires, which implies that the gardener or the viticulturalist has on him a cutting pliers, of the type shear. Indeed, if it is possible to cut a metal wire with pruning shears, it is with the risk of damaging the cutting edge of

the blunt blade.

  To overcome this drawback, and in particular to avoid the use of another cutting tool, some have proposed to cut a notch in the cutting edge of the sharp blade allowing the setting of a

  wire, and the cut of it.

  This notch is made near the pivot axis of the blades so that the user can have the maximum force to cut the wire, and above all so that it does not harm the primary function of the cutting edge, namely the cup

net of branches.

  However, it has been noted that in use, a pruner with such a notch is impractical. Indeed, to be able to engage the wire in the notch it is necessary to fully open the handles of the pruning shears, which is not always easy to carry out with one hand, and which affects the precision of the gesture. In addition, in most cases the approach to the wire is rather

  reduced, which does not allow to spread the blades as much as possible.

  In addition, the notch is made at the cutting edge of the straight blade, in a place where the blade is not very thick, so

  that the cut quickly deforms.

  The object of the present invention is to propose a cutting tool of the pruning type capable of cutting metal wires, and

  to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks.

  The cutting tool according to the invention comprises a frank and counterblade blade, and it is essentially characterized in that the frank blade has a second cutting edge allowing, in cooperation

  cut the metal wire or the like with the counter blade.

  According to a particular embodiment of the tool according to the invention, the frank blade has, substantially parallel to its cutting edge, a cutout capable of accommodating a metal wire or the like,

  and whose upper edge constitutes the second cutting edge.

  According to an additional characteristic of the device according to the invention, the cut is made in the thick part of the

blunt blade.

  According to another additional characteristic of the device according to the invention, the cutout opens onto the front part of the

blunt blade.

  According to another additional characteristic of the device according to the invention, the cutting edge angle of the second cutting edge is substantially equal to the cutting edge angle of the counter blade, and is

  arranged symmetrically with respect thereto.

  The advantages and characteristics of the device according to

  the invention will emerge more clearly from the description which

  follows and which relates to the attached drawing, which represents one

nonlimiting embodiment.

  In the appended drawing: - Figures la, lb and lc each represent a partial view of the cutting tool according to the invention, in phases

different cutting.

  - Figure 2 shows a sectional view along the axis XX 'of Figure lb. - Figure 3 shows a sectional view along the axis YY 'of the

figure lc.

  - Figure 4 shows a plan view of a mode of

  particular realization of the same tool.

  If reference is made to FIGS. 1a, 1b and 1c, we can see the two blades of a cutting tool according to the invention, namely a straight blade 1 and a counter blade 2, pivotally articulated on a

pivot 3.

  The straight blade 1 and the counter blade 2 are curved, the blade

  straight 1 is convex, while the counter blade 2 is concave.

  The straight blade 1, as can be seen in FIG. 2, has a flat internal face 10, intended to come into sliding contact with the counter blade 2, and an external face 11 making a very acute angle with the internal face 10. The straight edge i is very

  tapered and has a very sharp cutting edge 12.

  By cons, the counter blade 2 is very thick, and its cutting edge

  has a cutting angle very close to the right angle.

  The frank blade 1 comprises, made in its upper edge 13, a cut 4 substantially parallel to the cutting edge 12. The cut 4 is bordered by a lower edge 40, and an upper edge

  41 which forms a closed angle with the internal face 10.

  In FIG. 1a, the cutting tool according to the invention is shown at the start of the cutting of a branch 5. The branch 5 is in abutment against the counterblade 2 while the straight blade 1, by the maneuvering of the handle, not shown, which is integral with it, meets the counter blade 2, which has the effect, by shearing and due to the cutting edge 12, of the cutting of the

branch 5.

  In FIG. 1b, the cutting edge 12 of the straight blade 1 is at the cutting edge 20 of the counter blade 2, the branch 4, not

visible, is then cut off.

  In FIGS. 1c and 3, it can be seen that a metal wire or the like 6 is engaged in the cutout 4, and that the extension of the sliding of the free blade 1 on the counter blade 2, makes it possible to pinch the metal wire or analog 6 between the upper edge 41

  of the cutout 4 and the cutting edge 20 of the counter blade 2.

  2 () The upper edge 41 of the cutout then constitutes a second cutting edge making it possible, in cooperation with the cutting edge 20, to cut the metal wire or the like 6, when the sliding

  of the straight blade 1 on the counter blade 2 is extended.

  The cut 4 is made in the thick part of the frank blade 1, which makes it possible to give the upper edge 41 a very large cutting angle, substantially equal to that of the counter blade 2 and symmetrical with respect thereto. So the second cutting edge is robust, and it allows, like shears to cut a wire

metallic or the like.

  The position of the cutout 4 does not constitute discomfort when using the tool for cutting branches, since the

  second cutting edge does not intervene in this operation.

  On the other hand, the position of the cut 4 allows easy access to the metal wire or the like 6, whatever the location thereof, since its cut can be made practically with

  the ends of the straight blade 1 and the counter blade 2.

  In addition, the orientation of the cutout 4 facilitates the engagement of the

metal wire or the like 6.

  If we now refer to FIG. 4, we can see a particular embodiment of the cutting tool according to the invention,

  intended in particular to be used in the field of viticulture.

  It can indeed be seen that the straight blade 1 is secured to a handle 13 of the conventional type, while the counter blade 2 is secured to a tool 7 allowing the laying of links during a

  trellising operation, and which acts as a handle.

  The tool 7, of known type, has a tubular body 70 in which is engaged axially a twisted rod 71 whose end which projects from the tubular body 70 consists of a hook 72, and which is returned by a spring 73 The twisted rod 71 is introduced into a tab 74 passing through an opening, not visible, of a shape such that the twisted rod 71 cannot

  move longitudinally only by turning.

  A pull on the tool 7, while a link passes through the hook 72, has the effect of the axial rotation of the twisted rod, and

  kinking and closing the link.

  The cutting tool according to the invention in this embodiment allows a winegrower to have available three tools in one.

Multi-purpose cutting tool, usable in particular in the field of gardening or viticulture, of the pruning type comprising a sharp blade (1) and counter blade (2), characterized in that the sharp blade (1) has a second cutting edge (41) allowing, in cooperation with the counter blade (2), to cut a metallic wire or the like (6).   2. Tool according to claim 1, characterized in that the frank blade (1) has, substantially parallel to its cutting edge (12), a cutout (4) capable of accommodating a metal wire or the like   (6), and whose upper edge (41) constitutes the second cutting edge.   3. Tool according to claim 1, characterized in that the cutout (4) is made in the thick part of the blade. (1).   4. Tool according to claim 2 or claim 3, characterized in that the cutout (4) opens on the front part of the straight edge (1).   5. Tool according to any one of the preceding claims,   characterized in that the cutting edge angle of the second cutting edge (41) is substantially equal to the cutting edge angle of the counter blade (2),   and is arranged symmetrically with respect thereto.   6. Tool according to any one of the preceding claims,   characterized in that the counter blade (2) is integral with a tool   (7) allowing the installation of links, which acts as a handle.
