Abstract

The bed pan consists of an open chamber (100) with horizontal side panels (121, 122) and an inclined thrust surface (130) which goes under the patient's buttocks. The side panels and thrust surface lie at an angle of 5 - 15 degrees to one another and are connected by S-shaped curved walls (161, 162). The chamber is roughly semi-cylindrical in shape, with its two ends (110, 111) each in the shape of a quarter sphere.

Description

The present invention relates to a medical basin used to collect

the

  urine and feces from a bedridden person lying on his back.

  Medical pools used in hospitals have drawbacks

  both for the patient and for the nursing staff.

  For the patient, the basins are generally not ergonomic. Through

  for example, their shape is not complementary to the morphology of the human body.

  Furthermore, the contact surface of the volumes of the pelvis with the patient's bed

  is also great. The pelvis does not sink and considerably annoys the patient.

  Paradoxically, given their size, they sometimes overturn during the disengagement operation, if one is forced to move the person laterally. The known medical basins put the patient in a position of lumbar lordosis, which is contradictory with the satisfaction of natural needs since it has

  tendency to close the gluteus globes and render the abdominal belt inoperative.

  For nursing staff, their handling is not facilitated.

  Finally, some of these basins have surfaces formed by angles

  acute or have very small volumes making it tedious to clean them.

  The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks by proposing a particularly ergonomic basin for the patient, and a

  easy work for nursing staff.

  To this end, the medical basin of the invention comprises means provided for positioning the person in a position where his legs may be slightly bent and his back in the position of lumbar kyphosis. These means consist of an open tank, said tank being framed laterally by wings, extended transversely by a support surface framing one end of said tank, each of the wings being respectively connected to the support surface by a shaped wall. According to another characteristic of the invention, the reservoir has an approximately semi-cylindrical shape the ends of which are in the form of a quarter of

sphere.

  According to another characteristic of the invention, the bearing surface is positioned at the connection with the end in the form of a quarter of a sphere,

  In Fig. 1, the medical basin shown comprises a reservoir 100, the

  side walls 101 and 102 have an approximately semi-cylindrical shape 103.

  These side walls 101 and 102 are connected laterally and respectively to a

  first quarter of sphere 110 and a second quarter of truncated sphere 111.

  The edges of the side walls 101 and 102 and the quarter circles 110 and 111

  form the opening 115 of the tank 100.

  The side walls 101 and 102 are extended laterally each at the opening 115 by a wing 121 or 122 of rectangular appearance whose free sides are connected by a radius O. The planes formed by the wings 121 and 122 form between them an angle 3 whose
