Abstract

The hook or bracket (10) is shaped as a half-circle and has bent-over clips (12,16) at each end and has a vertical plate (14) at one end. This plate has a number of holes in it which are variously circular, triangular and square to accommodate fastenings on a support attached to the top of the wall under the eaves. Screws, bolts or rivets may be used.

Description

The invention relates to a gutter hook with universal fixing. We

  currently uses, to retain the gutters under the lower edge of a roof, stamped sheet metal hooks of different models, which are distinguished from each other by their fixing means; depending on whether this fixing is obtained by direct nailing on the edge planks, by clamp supports, by plug supports or by supports with 1 0 flat or ribbed shank, straight or edged, mounted

previously at the end of the rafters.

  It follows from this diversity, it is almost impossible for roofers to have in advance a stock of hooks 1 5 covering all the needs, difficult to predict in the case of repair, taking into account that the lifespan of the gutters is much less than that of their fixing means which can therefore be kept in place. It is also just as difficult to source a particular type of hook, when it was, until then, little used in a region and it is

  nevertheless imposed by a prescriber.

  There is already known a gutter hook suitable for mounting on several types of supports. Such a hook is described in the patent FR-2,425,515, describing a gutter hook with three retaining points, produced by stamping in one piece, having a cutout the central part of which is pierced with holes for nailing 3 0 direct on the edge planks and the middle part of which is stamped to form a groove conforming to the general shape of the slide of the plug or pole supports, and the marginal part of which in the shape of an inverted U, is intended to be folded over the rear longitudinal edge of the gutter; the front longitudinal edge thereof

  maintained by folding a tab on the flange.

  However, if this hook can be easily fixed by direct nailing on edge planks or on a traditional flat shank screwed against the rafters, it lends itself very poorly to fixing by clamp supports (for corrugated sheet plates, plastic or steel tray) or by support with molded shank plug. Furthermore, the fixing of the external edge of the gutter by means of the tongue of the hook is quite painful for the operator, being

  given resistance to the opposite deformation by it.

  The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks. This invention, as it is characterized, solves the problem of creating a gutter hook which, in addition to retaining the latter at three points, is adaptable without modification to all the devices for fixing to the roof currently existing and can be mounted easily by conferring on the assembly

  thus achieved satisfactory reliability.

  The gutter hook with three retaining points according to the invention, the plate for fixing to the roof has an inverted U cut, the marginal part of which is intended to be folded over the rear longitudinal edge of the gutter to form two retaining points 30 and the central part of which, for fixing to the support, includes holes for the passage of nails, a device for aligning and immobilizing the hook in the vertical position relative to its support and a passage opening for a fixing bolt, and the end of the hook opposite to its fixing plate is extended by a tab intended to be folded over the flange to form the third retaining point, is mainly characterized in that the device alignment and immobilization of the hook relative to its support consists of lugs distributed equally and symmetrically on either side of the longitu median plane dinal of the hook and in that the tongue extending the cradle of the hook includes a generally trapezoidal light, of which

  the small base is directed towards the end of said tongue.

  According to one embodiment, the lugs constituting the i 5 device for aligning and immobilizing the hook relative to its support, are obtained by cutting from the hook fixing plate, then folding back to 90

the back of it.

  2 0 Preferably, the pins are four in number and

triangular.

  The transverse spacing of the lugs is determined so as to obtain the alignment and immobilization of the hook relative to its support by embedding between the lugs of the shank of the supports with flat shanks or by embedding said lugs between the moldings of the shank supports

with molded stem.

  The advantages obtained, thanks to this invention, consist mainly in that the gutter hook has a universality at the level of the attachment, in that the fixing by nailing on the edge board is reinforced by the penetration of the pins in the wood and in that the tongue or glitter for retaining the front of the gutter can be curved tightly on the flange thereof by simple manual pressure, which ensures optimal adhesion and, consequently, perfect grip of the gutter . The rear sequin with two lateral uprights allows easy folding, which consolidates the maintenance of the perforated front sequin with programmed deformation. Furthermore, the universal nature of the hook makes it possible to reduce

  stocks and facilitates replenishment.

The figures represent a gutter hook with three retaining points A, B, C according to the invention consisting of a cradle 11 comprising, at one end, a tongue 12 with trapezoidal light 13 constituting a 1 5 retaining point A and, at the other end, a plate 14 with a U-shaped cutout 15, the marginal part 16 of which is intended to be folded towards the inside of the gutter to form retaining points B and C, including the central part, intended for attachment to the support, comprises orifices 17 for the passage of nails, a square orifice for passage 18 of a fixing bolt, and lugs 19 directed towards the rear of

plate 14.

  The hooks according to the invention are fixed either to the roof, by means of nails 2 on the edge planks 1; a clamp support 20 with a pole 21 provided with a groove 22 which is fixed to the end of the plates 3 of the roof by means of a clamp 24 and a clamping screw 25; of support 30 with stem 31 provided with a groove 32 fixed to the end of a plug 33 planted in the wall, of support 40 with molded stem 41 bordered by moldings 42 and 43, with groove 44 and rod 45 , fixed to the rafter 47 by screws 46; or support 50 with a flat shank 51 provided with a groove 52 fixed by means of

  a rod 53 and screws 54 on the rafters 47.

  Now examining Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings in more detail, it can be seen that the various fixing methods

  from the hook to the roof, using one of the supports above

  above mentioned, are made possible by the four pins 19 located on the rear face of the fixing plate

14 of said hook 10.

  The spacing of the lugs 19 has been studied so that it can respond perfectly to each of the applications; the four pins 19 coming, in the case of fixing by

  1 5 nails 2, reinforce the action of these.

  The cradle 11 of the hook 10 reinforced by a stamping

located towards the gutter.

  It is more particularly noted in FIG. 2, representing a partial rear view of the plate 14 for fixing the hook 10, that the U-shaped cutting 15 and the punching of the fixing holes 17 and 18 with nails and bolts are accompanied by the cutting. and some

  deformation at 90 rearward of the triangular pins 19.

  3 0 FIG. 3 shows that the hook 10 is fixed on the edge planks 1, first of all by forcing the lugs 19 into the wood of the edge planks 1, then consolidation

via nails 2.

  FIG. 4 represents a clamp support 20 attaching to the end of the plates 3 by means of a clamp 24 recalled by a screw 25, after embedding in a groove 26 situated at the end of a square part 23 produced at the outer end of the body of said support. The hook 10 is then secured to the support by means of a bolt, the rod of which is introduced both into the square passage orifice 18 and into the groove 22 of the shaft 21 of the support, with immobilization in position ideal, previously sought by sliding

  of said shaft 21 between the lugs 19.

  In FIGS. 5 and 7 showing the fixing of hooks 10 on a rod support 30 or 50 fixed directly to the wall by a plug 33 or on the rafter 47 by a flat rod 53 and screws 54, the hooks 10 are fixed on the pole 31 or 51 of said supports 30, 50 after height adjustment, by means of a bolt passing through the square passage orifice 18, produced in the plate 14 of the hook and by the

  groove 32 or 52 of the shaft 31 or 51.

  In FIG. 6, it can be seen that, in the case of attachment to the rafters 47 by means of supports 40 with a molded shank 41, the hook is fixed to the shank 41, by bolting after height adjustment by means of a groove 44 after lateral embedding of the lugs 19

  3 0 between the moldings 42 and 43 of the shaft 41.

  Referring now to Figure 8, we note that, whatever the means of attachment to the roof, the gutter (not shown) is held in the hollow of the hook 10 by three retaining points A, B, C constituted respectively of the tongue or glitter 12, the winding of which around the half-round of the gutter is facilitated by the trapezoidal shape of the lumen 13, the large base of which is located towards the end of the hook, and of the marginal part 16 of the cutout 15 made in the plate 14 for attaching the hook to the support which, after having been folded inwards from the gutter over the edge thereof, constitutes the other two retaining points B and C thus forming a double glitter ensuring with the tongue 12 located on the opposite side, perfect holding of the

1 5 gutter in its hooks.

Claims (5)

  1. Gutter hook with three retaining points, the fixing plate of the roof has an inverted U cut, the marginal part of which is intended to be folded over the rear longitudinal edge of the gutter, to form two points of retaining the latter and whose central part, intended for fixing to the support, includes holes for the passage of nails, a device for aligning and immobilizing the hook in vertical position relative to its support and a passage orifice for a bolt and the end of the hook opposite to its fixing plate is extended by a tab intended to be folded over the flange to form the third retaining point of the latter, characterized in that the alignment device and immobilizing the hook (10) relative to its support, consists of lugs (19) distributed equally and symmetrically on either side of the longitudinal median plane of the hook (10) and in that the tongue (12) extending the cradle (11) of the hook comprises a slot (13) of generally trapezoidal shape, the small base of which is directed towards the end of said tongue (12).   2. Gutter hook according to claim 1, characterized in that the lugs (19) constituting the device for aligning and immobilizing the hook (10) relative to its support, are obtained by cutting from the plate (14) fixing the hook (10) then folding   toward the back of it.   3. Gutter hook according to claim 1, characterized in that the pins (19) constituting the device for aligning and immobilizing the hook (10) by   in relation to its support are four in number.   4. Gutter hook according to claim 1 or 3, characterized in that the transverse spacing of the pins (19) is determined so as to obtain the alignment and immobilization of the hook (10) relative to its 1 O support , by embedding between the lugs (19) of the shank (51) of the flat shank supports (50) or by embedding said lugs (19) between the moldings (42,43) of the shank (41) of the shank supports molded (40).   5. Gutter hook according to one of claims 1 to 4,   characterized in that the pins (19) are triangular in shape.
