Abstract

The pipette (1) to store small vols. of substances, and especially biological material, has a tubular section (2) with a perforated inert (3) within it, with a coaxial opening (4) through it. The insert (3) is of an elastomer, thermoplastic or thermoplastic elastomer material, or it is of metal. The passage through the insert is closed by a plug (5).

Description

"Paillette with adapter insert" The present invention relates to a

  straw for the conservation of small quantities of substances, in particular biological substances, in particular

biological fluids.

  This type of flake, known under the name of "French flake", was disclosed for the first time in French Patent N 995 878. The flakes used until now include a tripartite stopper constituted by two pads of a fibrous substance enclosing a powder capable of transforming on contact with a liquid into an impermeable paste or gel adhering to the

  wall of the tube by creating a tight stopper.

  The tripartite plug flakes developed and marketed by the Applicant are entirely satisfactory. However, some absorption of

  liquid contained in the glitter could be noted, although very weak.

  There are glitter of different diameters. For flakes of large diameter, for example, 3.7 mm, the tripartite plug will have a larger size and the absorption will be all the more consequent. It is therefore desirable not to use

  a larger cap for a larger diameter flake.

  Furthermore, for obvious economic reasons in production, it would generally be advantageous to be able to use caps of similar sizes for

  flakes of different diameters, regardless of the nature of the stopper.

  An object of the invention is to provide a straw comprising a device

  allowing the use of a plug of the same size regardless of the diameter of the glitter.

  Other objects and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the

description below.

  The present invention fulfills the above object and provides a straw for the preservation of small quantities of substances, in particular biological substances, consisting of a tube segment, in which said tube segment is provided inside. from one of its ends of an insert pierced with an orifice

  substantially coaxial, characterized in that the insert is a capillary tube.

  The insert is usually made of a material chosen from elastomeric materials, thermoplastic materials and elastomeric materials

  thermoplastics. It can also be made of metal or any other suitable material.

  f 2 The end of the straw does not include the insert according to the invention, remains normally open for the introduction of the product to be stored, which is generally

liquid.

  To protect the loaded product from contamination, the open end is closed, for example by welding, especially ultrasonic or thermal, or any

  other suitable technique known to those skilled in the art.

  It is also advantageous to be able to mark the glitter by "color code" without having to resort to colored glitter. This can be done according to the present invention by choosing an insert made of a colored thermoplastic material or

  colored thermoplastic elastomer material.

  The capillary insert usually has a diameter of between about 0.5 mm and

2 mm, but not exclusively.

  The invention will now be illustrated in a nonlimiting manner with reference to the appended Figures in which: - Figure 1 is a view in longitudinal section of another embodiment

of a straw according to the invention.

  In Figure 1, the straw 1 consists of a tube segment 2 provided with

  the insert 3 pierced with a substantially coaxial capillary orifice, without plug.

  Those skilled in the art will understand that although the invention has been described and illustrated for particular embodiments, many variants can be envisaged while remaining within the scope of the invention as defined in the

appended claims.

  1. straw (1) for the conservation of small quantities of substances, in particular biological substances, consisting of a tube segment (2), in which said tube segment is provided inside one of its ends of an insert (3) pierced with a substantially coaxial orifice (4), characterized in that the insert is a capillary tube. 2. A straw according to claim 1, characterized in that the insert is in one material chosen from metals.   3. A straw according to claim 1, characterized in that the insert is made of a material chosen from elastomeric materials, thermoplastic materials and   thermoplastic elastomeric materials.   4. A straw according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that that the insert is colored.
