Abstract

The document, made from paper or other material carrying printed or handwritten inscriptions, has at least one window (2) covered on both sides with a layer of a transparent or translucent plastic material (4). In a variant of the design the whole document can be enclosed in a layer of supple or rigid transparent or translucent material. The shape of the window in the document can be designed, for example, so that it is related to the activity of the issuing authority, and both the window and transparent/translucent covering layer can be of complex shape.
