Abstract

The rucksack, made in fabric, has a central compartment (9) with a back part (8) that has two padded zones (5). The invention relates to a canvas bag for carrying objects on a man's back and its use in parachuting, said bag comprising: - a central compartment, the front face of which constitutes a backrest equipped with a holding structure favoring a distribution of the back support, and a non-containing back contact when the bag is filled with objects, - and two straps sewn at the top of the backrest, padded at the shoulder passage, each extended at its lower end by a length adjustment strap connecting at the bottom of the backrest to the height of the wearer's lumbar.

The parachutes are generally hung in the dorsal, the carrying bags used in parachuting are worn ventral or between the thighs so as not to disturb the opening of the parachute. In addition to the inertia of the bag which constitutes a difficulty and causes additional physical effort during the landing, the carrying of a bulky and heavy bag hinders the visibility of the parachutist and its reception in the event of a rolled roll. According to the invention, the bag comprises: - a release handle, sewn on the upper part of the backrest, - and a release rope of several meters connected by one end to the release handle of the bag, and connected to its other end with a quick opening link for fastening and quick unclipping to a parachute harness, and able to withstand the tension caused by the release.

The handle and the seams are sufficiently resistant to the tension caused by a vertical release of the bag from a height of several meters, which corresponds to a significant static load. The release rope allows the bag to be retained in its fall when the paratrooper releases it during his parachute descent. The bag then hangs a few meters below until landing.

According to a characteristic of the invention, the bag includes a low central loop, at the lumbar level of the backrest. Before the parachute jump, the parachutist hooks the two strap straps, which allows him to more easily put his legs in the straps for the installation of bag between his legs during the parachute jump. The suspender straps are then tightened to the maximum so that the suspenders enclose the hips and the outer thighs of the paratrooper.

The bag also includes two lateral loops at the lumbar level of the backrest for the lower attachment of the strap straps in the back use of the bag for walking.

A quick link at the lower end of each strap adjustment strap allows stapling either to the central loop or to the side loops.

According to a preferred embodiment, the fast-opening fasteners are of the type used for seat belts.

Before the jump, the paratrooper attaches each side strap to the parachute harness using the quick-release buckles. It checks the attachment of the rope to the bag, as well as the freedom of movement of the rope to unwind freely when dropped. He attaches the other end of the rope to the harness, and tightens his thighs in the strap straps.

The side straps undergo the tension caused by the opening of the parachute, and transmit this tension to the reinforcement hoop. The parachute once opened, carries the bag via these straps.

When the connection of the side straps to the bag is located under the center of gravity of the bag, these straps pass through at least one strap or pass sewn on each side outside the central compartment above the center of gravity of the bag, to avoid tilting of the bag during the parachute descent. The side straps can be covered by side pockets.

During the parachute descent, the parachutist releases his thighs from the straps of the suspenders, then releases the side straps connected to the harness, which causes the bag to fall until the rope is tensioned.

With reference to FIG. 1, a backpack 9 with a single compartment, comprises a backrest 8, having two padded zones 5 constituting a support structure favoring a distribution of the support, and a non-contacting contact when the bag is filled of objects.

Straps 1 sewn at the top of the backrest 8, and padded at the shoulder passage, are extended for each at its lower end by a strap 2 for adjusting the length ending in a quick coupler 3 of the carabiner type.

For backpacking and walking, each fastener 3 is connected to a retaining loop 4 sewn on each side of the backrest 8 at the lumbar level of the wearer. The central loop 16 is not used for walking.

A hook 12 for attachment is located at the upper part of the backrest 8 above the shoulder straps, and is sewn onto a reinforcement of reinforcing straps 15 shown in detail in FIG. 2. A link 13 closed by a nut around the handle 12 allows the attachment of a drop rope 14, having a length of several meters. The rope 14 is hooked to the handle 12 each time a jump is planned, and is stored in an upper pocket of the bag 9 for walking. The cord 14 carries at its other end a harness link 20 with quick opening.

On each side of the bag 9, a suspension strap 6 is sewn to the frame 15, and passes through loops 7 and 11. The bag 9 is suspended by the suspension straps 6, so as not to tilt laterally.

A quick-opening buckle 17, of the type used for aircraft seat belts, connects each suspension strap 6 to a strap 18 terminated by a link 19 with a nut.

In FIG. 2, the reinforcing strap frame 15 horizontally and vertically encircles the bag compartment to avoid tearing the bag during parachute opening shocks and when the bag is released. The drop handle 12 and the lateral suspension straps 6 are securely sewn to the frame 15. The strap 18 and the link 19 remain attached to the parachute harness during the entire jump, even after the opening of the loop 17 for the drop.

 With reference to FIG. 3, the paratrooper, without his parachute, installed the backrest 8 of the bag 9 longitudinally between his thighs 22, the backrest 8 being turned upwards and the central loop 16 backwards. After attaching the straps 2 of suspenders to the central loop 16 of the backrest 8, the paratrooper passes his thighs 22 inside, and tightens the straps 2, so that the padded shoulder straps 1 are tightened around the hips 23 and thighs 22 of the paratrooper.

Figure 4 shows in side view the paratrooper equipped with the bag 9, and before the parachute jump. The quick-fastening link 20 is hooked to the parachute harness, and the rope 14 is stored in the upper pocket 21, which is open for the extraction of the rope 14 during the release. The suspension straps 6 are extended by elements 17, 18 and 19, and are hooked to a parachute harness 40. Two pockets 30 are installed on the face 31 of the bag opposite the backsplash 8. Thus arranged, the two pockets 30 do not interfere with the paratrooper to straddle the bag 9 with his thighs 22.

Figure 5 shows the parachutist in side view just after the opening of the parachute 35 and before the release of the bag 9. The bag 9 is always located between the thighs 22 and leaves good visibility to orient the parachute. To drop the bag 9, the paratrooper first checks the opening of the compartment 21 containing the rope 14, then unclips the straps 2 of suspenders to release his thighs 22 from the bag, and finally open the loops 17, so as to release the fall of the bag 9 until the tension of the cord 4.

Referring to Figure 6, the paratrooper is about to land. The paratrooper is then free to move to ensure good reception on the ground.

In Figure 7, pockets 30 are installed outside the face 31 of the bag 9 opposite the backrest 8, to reduce the front width of the bag, and facilitate the installation of the bag 9 between the thighs 22 of the paratrooper. This position of the pockets 30 offset the center of gravity of the bag 9 backwards, and is not conducive to walking.

In FIG. 8, the same removable pockets 30 are installed on the sides 32 of the bag 9 to bring the center of gravity of the bag 9 closer to the back of the wearer for walking.
