Abstract

LABIAL GEL COMPRISING A MIXTURE OF ALCOHOLIC EXTRACTS FROM PLANTS.

Technical area
The invention relates to a new type of lip gel based on a mixture of hydro-alcoholic extracts from fresh plants.

 It also relates to a process for the preparation of such a gel.

 As is known, a lip gel is a composition presented in the form of a gel intended to be applied to the lips, in particular chapped skin due to cold and any irritation phenomenon.

Brief description of the invention
The invention relates to a lip gel comprising a mixture of alcoholic plant extracts, at least one humectant, and at least one gelling agent, which is characterized
on the one hand, in that the humectant is monopropylene glycol and represents from 5 to 10% of the weight of the gel,
- in that the gelling agent is a polymer of acrylic acid, and represents from 0.5 to 1.5% of the weight of the gel,
- in that the alcohol is 960 ethanol and represents from 10 to 15% of the weight of the gel,
- in that the mixture of alcoholic extracts consists of an equal-weight mixture of hydro-alcoholic extracts of fresh plants
by Thuya Occidentalis,
from Potentilla Tormentilla,
from Plantago Major,
this mixture representing from 15 to 25% of the weight of the gel,
- And in that the complement to 100% by weight consists of water.

In other words, the invention resides in the double selection for this application:
- On the one hand, the humectant, namely monopropylene glycol and the gelling agent, namely the polymer of acrylic acid;
- and secondly, the specific choice of the mixture of plants specified above.

 The choice of monopropylene glycol as a humectant prevents the preparation from drying out. As already said, this compound represents from 5 to 10% of the weight of the gel, advantageously from 5 to 7% and preferably 6%.

 The gelling agent is a polymer of acrylic acid commonly used for these applications, in particular of the type known under the trademark "CARBOPOL 940" from B.F. Goodrich. This compound represents from 0.5 to 1.5%, preferably 0.9% of the weight of the gel.

 The hydro-alcoholic extract of "Thuya Occidentalis" is prepared from the fresh leafy twigs of the plant, harvested preferably in spring, and macerated in a mixture of water and ethanol to obtain a final 65% alcoholic strength. The extract obtained is greenish-brown in color, with an aromatic odor. This plant is well known for its soothing and astringent properties.

 The hydro-alcoholic extract of "Potentilla Tormentilla" is also obtained after maceration of the whole fresh plant in a mixture of water and ethanol, making it possible to obtain an alcoholic strength of 65% in the end. The extract obtained is brown in color. This plant is well known for its tonic, refreshing, antiseptic, astringent and hemostatic as well as healing and anti-viral properties.

 The hydro-alcoholic extract of "Plantago Major" is obtained after maceration of the whole fresh flowering plant in a mixture of water and ethanol, allowing an alcoholic strength of 65% to be obtained in the end.

The hydro-alcoholic extract obtained is brown-green in color with an aromatic odor. This plant is well known for its astringent, anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

 In a preferred embodiment, the mixture of alcoholic plant extracts also contains, in equal parts, other extracts, a hydro-alcoholic extract of "Buxus Sempervirens".

 The hydro-alcoholic extract of "Buxus Sempervirens" is obtained after maceration of the young fresh leafy twigs of the plant in a mixture of water and ethanol, allowing an alcoholic strength of 65% to be obtained in the end. The extract obtained is greenish-brown in color, with an herbaceous odor. This plant is well known for its detergent, healing and calming properties, especially in nerve pain.

 As already said, in the mixture, each of the hydroalcoholic extracts is introduced at equal weight and the weight of the mixture represents from 15 to 25%, and preferably 18.72% of the total weight of the gel.

 The additional weight of the gel is represented by water, in particular purified water.

In a preferred embodiment, the lip gel according to the invention comprises, as a percentage of the total weight of the gel:
- 4.68% hydro-alcoholic extract of Buxus Sempervirens,
- 4.68% hydro-alcoholic extract of Thuya Occidentalis,
- 4.68% hydro-alcoholic extract of Potentilla Tormentilla,
- 4.68% hydro-alcoholic extract from Plantago Major,
- 6% monopropylene glycol,
- 0.9% of a polymer of acrylic acid known under the brand
"CARBOPOL 940" by BF Goodrich.

-13.12% ethanol 96,
-1.6% of a 10% sodium hydroxide solution,
- and finally 59.66% of purified water.

The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of such a lip gel which is characterized in that it consists at room temperature
# to disperse a gelling agent in water;
. to add to this dispersion of monopropylene glycol and
96 ethanol;
. to neutralize the dispersion with a hydroxide solution
sodium;
to add the equal-weight mixture of each hydro extract
alcoholic;
stirring the final mixture until a homogeneous gel is obtained.

 Advantageously, in practice, the sodium hydroxide solution is produced from a 30% pure sodium hydroxide solution in water, to which double the volume of purified water has been added.

 The appropriate viscosity of the final gel is obtained by adding sodium hydroxide.

 The pH value in the final gel takes into account the pH of the skin and that necessary for the thickening of the acrylic acid polymer. In practice, the pH of the final gel is 5.9.

Applications
The gel obtained is in the form of a viscous mass, yellow-brown in color and of aromatic odor.

 This gel can be packaged in the most diverse forms, in particular in the form of tubes.

 This gel can be used as soon as the first signs of irritation appear on the lips, at the rate of five to six applications per day until total disappearance.

 This gel can therefore be used successfully for the treatment of all lip irritations.

Claims (7)

 1 / Lip gel comprising a mixture of alcoholic plant extracts, at least one humectant, and at least one gelling agent, which is characterized:  - On the one hand, in that the humectant is monopropylene glycol and represents from five to ten percent (5 to 10%) of the weight of the gel;  - in that the gelling agent is a polymer of acrylic acid and represents from zero point five to a point five percent (0.5 to 1.5%) of the weight of the gel;  - in that the alcohol is 96 "ethanol and represents from ten to fifteen percent (10 to 15%) of the weight of the gel;  - in that the mixture of alcoholic extracts consists of an equal-weight mixture of hydro-alcoholic extracts of fresh plants:  by Thuya Occidentalis,  from Potentilla Tormentilla,  from Plantago Major,  this mixture representing from fifteen to twenty five percent (15 to 25%) of the weight of the gel,  - and in that the one hundred percent (100%) supplement by weight consists of water.  2 / Lip gel according to claim 1 characterized in that the mixture of alcoholic plant extracts also contains an alcoholic extract of Buxus Sempervirens.  3 / lip gel according to one of claims 1 and 2 characterized in that the humectant is propylene glycol and represents from five to ten percent (5 to 10%) of the weight of the gel, advantageously from five to seven for one hundred (5 to 7%) and preferably six percent (6%).  4 / labial gel according to one of claims 1 to 3 characterized in that the gelling agent is a polymer of acrylic acid and represents from zero point five to a point five percent (0.5 to 1.5% ), preferably zero point nine percent (0.9%) of the weight of the gel.  5 / labial gel according to one of claims 1 to 4 characterized in that the weight of the mixture of each of the hydro-alcoholic extracts represents fifteen to twenty five percent (15 to 25%), and preferably eighteen point sixty twelve percent (18.72%) of the total weight of the gel.  6 / labial gel according to one of claims 1 to 5 characterized in that it comprises as a percentage of the total weight of the gel:  - four point sixty eight percent (4.68%) of hydro extract  alcoholic from Buxus Sempervirens,  - four point sixty eight percent (4.68%) of hydro extract  Thuya Occidentalis alcoholic,  - four point sixty eight percent (4.68%) of hydro extract  Potentilla Tormentilla alcoholic,  - four point sixty eight percent (4.68%) of hydro extract  Plantago Major alcoholic,  - six percent (6%) of monopropylene glycol,  - zero point nine percent (0.9%) of an acid polymer  acrylic known under the brand name "CARBOPOL 940" by B.F.
