Abstract

The unit consists of two panes of glass (1) enclosing a self-supporting frame (2) with seals (4), the frame being designed to receive the various fittings, fastenings and trim required to complete the window. The glass panes are fitted to the frame by means of strips (3) attached to their inner surfaces by adhesive (8) and equipped with lugs (7) which engage with slots (6) in the frame. The seals (4) fit into grooves (14') in the frame which, in a variant, can be solid and have stepped recesses for the glass panes. Triangular section profiles are screwed to the outside of the frame to cover the edges of the glass and receive trim strips.
