Abstract

The tensioner is used e.g. for a PVC covering material 0.05 - 0.5 mm thick. The tensioner comprises a rigid L-section strip (2,4), also e.g. of PVC, with two horizontal members (3,3') forming a recess with supple lips (7) along its edges. The recess is designed to hold one edge of the covering material (5). This edge is held in place by a flexible cylindrical retaining element. The retaining element is in the form of a hollow tube or flexible roll having a diameter the same as the width of the recess, so that it holds the covering material in place under tension. The tube can have an outer diameter of 8 mm and an inner diameter of 6 mm. The recess can be covered with a rigid plastics strip once the covering material has been fitted. Alternatively, the strip can be attached to the tube.
