The invention relates to a filling spout and, in particular although not exclusively, a filling spout for a weight metering machine.
In the field of filling containers by weight dosing, document FR-2 688 196 discloses a filling spout producing a jet of liquid at high flow rate in laminar regime. This spout has a tubular body and a movable sizing member inside the body between a low position in which it closes a flow opening of the body and a high position in which it allows the liquid to flow. A conical inner wall part of the tubular body adjacent to the flow orifice and a conical calibration part of the calibrating member define between them an annular space of decreasing section up to the flow orifice. annular has a sufficient length relative to the width of the annular space taken in a radial direction at the level of the flow orifice to obtain a laminar flow even for high flow rates. In order to minimize the diameter of the filling spout, it is preferable to produce a calibration member having a low taper, that is to say one whose angle of the lateral surface with respect to the axis is small. However, it is provided in the cited document that the calibration part comes to bear on the edge of the flow orifice to ensure the closure of the spout. In this case a small taper of the calibration part implies a large stroke of the calibration member to obtain a full opening of the filling spout. In addition, a large stroke of the calibration member is incompatible with the control devices usually used to adjust the position of the calibrator
An object of the invention is to propose a filling spout producing a jet at high flow rate in laminar mode and comprising a valve having a stroke compatible with conventional control members.
In order to achieve this goal, there is proposed according to the invention a filling spout comprising a tubular body having a calibration portion and terminated by a flow orifice, and a movable valve inside the tubular body and having a conical sizing part followed by an end part having a section decreasing more rapidly than the sizing part, the sizing part of the tubular body and the sizing part of the valve delimiting between them an annular space of decreasing section in the direction of the flow orifice of the tubular body, this annular space having, with respect to the width taken in a radial direction at a lower end of the annular space, a length sufficient to obtain a laminar flow in the annular space in which the valve calibration portion has a lower end having a radius greater than the radius of the flow port.
Thus the sharp decrease in the section of the terminal part allows maximum flow to be obtained with a short stroke of the valve and it has been found that, surprisingly, the increase in section which results immediately upstream from the orifice flow did not destroy the laminar flow regime obtained by the calibration part. The invention thus achieves a compromise between the conditions for optimum flow and industrial constraints.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will become apparent in the description which follows of a nonlimiting embodiment of the invention, with reference to the single attached figure which is an axial section view of the spout. filling according to the invention.
The filling spout comprises a tubular body 2 having a flow orifice 3 for the outlet of the liquid to be conditioned. The spout further comprises a valve 4 movable inside the tubular body along a vertical axis 6 thereof. The left half of the figure shows the valve 4 in the low position in a position for closing the lower orifice 3. The right half of Figure 1 shows the valve in the high position in a position allowing the maximum flow of the liquid to condition.
The tubular body 2 comprises a conical calibration part 8. The valve 4 comprises a conical calibration part 10 of the same conicity as the calibration part 8. These two parts 8 and 10 define between them an annular space of decreasing section in the direction of the flow orifice 3. This annular space has a length L along the axis 6 preferably at least equal to about eight times the width 1 of a lower end of the annular space taken in a radial direction. These dimensional conditions make it possible to obtain a laminar flow at the outlet of the annular space whatever the flow regime upstream of the annular space.
The tubular body 2 has an end portion 12 adjacent to the lower orifice 3. The valve 4 has an end portion 14, conical in the illustrated embodiment and having a taper greater than that of the calibration portion 10 of the tubular body 2 .
Here by way of example, the end part 14 forms an angle of 600 with the axis while the conical calibration part 10 forms an angle of 160 with the axis.
According to the invention, the radius R of the calibration part 10 at the lower end of the annular space is greater than the radius r of the flow orifice 3 of the tubular body so that the end part 14 closes the lower orifice 3 when it comes into contact with the end portion 12 of the body 2. The high taper of the end portion makes it possible to obtain a very rapid variation in the flow rate during movement of the valve and therefore to obtain a maximum flow for a short valve stroke. In the preferred embodiment illustrated, the taper of the end portion 14 is calculated so that at the end of the opening stroke this end portion is completely contained inside the tubular body without protruding from the flow orifice 3 and the calibration part 12 has a curved S-shaped profile along a section through an axial plane. This profile has two opposite curvatures, a concave upper curvature contiguous to the conical calibration part 8, and a convex lower curvature adjacent to the orifice. 3. This curved S-shaped profile favors the preservation of the laminar regime up to the flow orifice even if the flow section increases in the area between the lower end of the annular space and the 'flow orifice 3. In association with the conical shape of the end portion 14 Such a curve also makes it easy to adapt the filling spout to different maximum flow rates by simply changing the lower part of the tubular body while retaining the same valve. Note in this regard that the lower part of the tubular body is preferably removable as illustrated in the figure.
Of course, numerous modifications to the invention may be made without departing from the scope thereof defined by the appended claims. The terminal part of the valve may have a shape other than conical, for example a curved profile along the curved profile of the end part of the tubular body 2. Conversely, the end part of the tubular body 2 may have a conical shape the taper may be close to or identical to the taper of the terminal part of the valve.
