Abstract

Description

The present invention relates to the general field of aromatic compounds

  especially in essential oils or plant essences.

  Such compounds, of course, have the primary function of giving off pleasant and marked smells and tastes, so that some of them are used very naturally and very commonly in the field of food flavoring or perfumery. But these compounds may also possess

  therapeutic, antiseptic, disinfectant, deodorant or even

  parasites and insecticides / insect repellents, these virtues being eventually exploited

  in industrial and commercial products.

  More specifically, the subject of the present invention is an aromatic composition comprising at least one aromatic active ingredient based on oliban constituted by at least one essential oliban oil or by one or more

components of it.

  The present invention also relates to the use of such a composition for the preparation of medicines, sanitary products and hygiene products.

  disinfectants, deodorants, antiseptics, insecticides, insect repellents, anti-

  parasiticides, plant protection products, cosmetic products or even

perfumes, among others.

  The essential oil of oliban - olibanwnum - (incense) is extracted from a plant of the family Burseraceae: Boswellia carteri - birdw. and related species. This plant, whose home countries are mainly those of North East Africa, Arabia and Iran, provides a gum - oleoresin that contains sugars, alcohols and acids. Conventionally, the essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of this gum-oleoresin. The distillate consists of a viscous liquid which may be colorless, pale yellow, yellowish, reddish yellow depending on its origin and the purification treatments to which it may be subjected. The density of this species of oliban is usually slightly higher than that of

  water: 1,040 to 1,065, this density growing naturally with the dry extract.

  Incense is obviously used for its pleasant odoriferous and aromatic properties, which develop especially under the action of heat. Therapeutic applications of the essential oliban oil are also known: treatment of the infectious states for internal and external use, implementation as an internal antidepressant, use as a basis for the preparation of stimulants and balsamics, incorporation into opioid cyanoglossal pills, in mercurial plasters or in active preparations against certain neuralgias. And its pleasant fragrant character makes it, of course, to be used

in perfumery.

  However, the industrial and commercial exploitation of the essential oil of oliban or its aromatic components has always remained extremely limited and discreet. Most of these pharmaceutical, cosmetic or

  perfumery have no more course now.

  This obsolescence is explained by several reasons, which will be examined below.

  Thirdly, it is obvious that the aromatic compositions of the olibanurn type would have everything to gain, as for their industrial and commercial interest, in the improvement of their functional, therapeutic, odoriferous, disinfecting and other properties. With this in mind, the ultimate goal is to increase

  activity while decreasing the dose, for obvious economic reasons.

  In this state of affairs, one of the essential objectives of the present invention is to provide an aromatic composition based on active compounds of oliban and having physicochemical properties, in particular improved solubility and stability to aging and more. adapted to the industrial imperatives of

  simplicity of implementation and long storage time.

  Another object of the invention is to provide an aromatic composition based on olibanum or the like, which has functional properties, in particular pharmaceutical, cosmetic, perfuming or hygienic properties which are at maximum

  active doses as low as possible.

  Another object of the invention is to provide an aromatic composition which is a raw material not only effective and economical, but also easily and universally usable in many applications. To meet these objectives, among others, the applicant has had the merit of highlighting, in a completely surprising and unexpected manner and after many researches and experiments, that it is appropriate to associate the active compounds of oliban with at least one synergistic agent chosen from compounds of formula

C1O HIS 0.

  Thus, the present invention relates to an aromatic composition comprising, on the one hand, at least one active aromatic system based on oliban and consisting of at least one essential oliban oil and / or by one or more components thereof and, on the other hand, at least one aromatic synergistic agent chosen from the compounds

of formula CloH180.

  The advantage and interest of this composition lies in the exacerbation of physicochemical and functional physicochemicals of the active aromatic system based on oliban, by this particular chemical class of synergistic aromatic compounds. This results in particular in: a synergistic action, a better solubility in organic solvents and, in particular in ethanol, as well as in aromatic components, a better diffusion,

  - and greater stability to aging.

  This original association is of a certain industrial and commercial interest for

  all aromatic plant products from oliban.

  According to a preferred feature of the invention, the aromatic synergistic agent comprises eucalyptol, borneol or a mixture thereof. Both of these compounds are C 10 H 18 O 6 isomers, widely available and relatively

cheap.

  Eucalyptol, also referred to as cineole-1,8 or epoxy-1,8p-menthane, is an internal etheroxide corresponding to terpine. It is extractable, in liquid form, from various vegetable essences. These are of course those of eucalyptus which contain in greater quantity, namely up to 85%. By way of example, mention may be made of: Eucalyptus globulus, Eucalyptus austrialana, Eucalyptus amygdalina,

  Eucalyptus polybractea, and Eucalyptus smithii, among others.

  Malaleuca leucadendron and Malaleuca viridiflora, which contain 60 to 75% and 35 to 70% of eucalyptol, can also be mentioned. For

  memory, we will finally mention Artemisa cina and Artemisa vulgaris.

  Eucalyptol is a mobile, colorless liquid whose odor is reminiscent of both mint and camphor, its density is 0.921. The known pharmacological activities of eucalyptol are those of potent expectorant and antiseptic. It is mainly used as a means of combating respiratory tract infections

and genitourinary particular.

  There are also uses such as disinfectant, deodorant, anti-

  parasitic, insecticide / insect repellent.

  Eucalyptol useful as synergistic agent in the context of the invention can be in pure form or be provided by an essential oil, which is

  rich, for example by one or more of those mentioned above.

  With regard to borneol, it can be pointed out that it is an alcohol supplied by a tree growing in Borneo and Sumatra: Dryobalanops Camphora. Borneol (right camphol), also known as 1,7,7-trimethylbicyclo [2.2. 1] heptane-2-ol, is collected

  in crystalline form under the bark of Dryobalanops camphora.

  Borneol is soluble in ethanol and fluffy plant essences. Its density is less than that of water. Various plant essences contain either pure or ester form. By way of illustration of these source species of borneol, mention may be made of: Rosmarinus Officinalis (15% by weight) - pine essential oils, and more particularly: * Abies sibirica (40% by weight of bornyl acetate) * Tsuga canadensis, * Pinus silvestris,

* Pinus mariana etc ...

  - Origanwnum majorana (85% weight of a mixture of camphor and borneol "Bruylants")

- Thymus saturated (35% weight).

  Borneol is an antiseptic and, for many authors, a general tonic and more specifically a stimulant of the adrenal cortex. It is used in the treatment of infectious diseases and depressive states, or even as a desensitizer. In the same way as for eucalyptol, the addition of a synergistic agent based on bomeol in the aromatic composition of the invention can be carried out by means of one or more essential oils, especially those

  mentioned above and which are rich in this active aromatic compound.

  Since, in order to obtain the aromatic compositions according to the invention, it is possible, in particular, to use all or part of essential oliban oils as well as essential oils containing eucalyptol and / or borneol, it is It is interesting to note that these plant essences may present variations in their compositions, the said variations depending on several factors. First, it is obvious that the vegetable and living origin of these oils, determines a variability due to the geographical location, on which depends the climate and the nature of the soil. In addition, changes in composition may occur depending on the timing of the plant harvest. Finally, it is clear that distillation and the way in which it is conducted, are other factors that influence

  little on the essential oil obtained in fine.

  This being considered, it should be noted that the first factor is not really crucial and that it is possible to control the other two, so as to ensure a constancy of the properties, in particular physicochemical, therapeutic and

  cosmetics, essential oils.

  It is also to be considered that these can be in ground form or not for their use in aromatic compositions according to

the invention.

  Thus, within the meaning of the present invention, the term "rectified" refers to one or more purification treatments, through which the essential oils are freed from one or more of their undesirable components. In particular, terpenes, which are present in virtually all essential oils, can be removed by deterpenation. Such treatment aims at

  improve the solubility of gasoline in ethanol, as well as its aromatic power.

  This concerns more specifically perfumery. It goes without saying that the purification or rectification of gasoline can also extend to other constituents of gasolines than terpenes, namely: paraffins, alkaloids, or other

non-terpenic component.

  These purification / rectification treatments make it possible to eliminate the troublesome compounds according to the intended use. These troublesome compounds can be

  thus eliminated in whole or in part.

  In the case where the oliban-based active system consists of at least one oliban essential oil and the synergistic agent comprises eucalyptol, the latter is preferably present in an amount of 15 to 75%, preferably from 25 to

  % by volume relative to the total composition.

  On the other hand, when the active aromatic system based on oliban is at least one oliban essential oil and the synergistic agent comprises borneol, the latter title is 5 to 50% by weight, preferably 20 to 50% by weight. to 30% by weight, and more preferably still about 25% by weight, relative to the active system

based on oliban.

  Advantageously, the composition comprises at least one organic solvent chosen from fatty substances, alcohols, ethers or their mixtures, preferably

  among alcohols and / or ethers, ethanol being more particularly preferred.

  The synergistic combination of oliban-based system, on the one hand, and eucalyptol and / or borneol, on the other hand, has the advantageous effect of increasing the solubility of oliban compounds in organic solvents such as that for example ethanol. This is particularly true for oliban essential oil, whether it be

in ground form or not.

  It has also been found that the composition diffuses much better, with respect to the aromatic composition based on oliban alone, through different solid supports, such as animal or plant tissues, fibrous materials (when it is difficult to liquid or gaseous state) and through gases, such as air (when

found in the vapor state).

  This excellent diffusion is at the origin of better performances in terms of bioavailability, therefore of therapeutic efficacy, but also in terms of

  perfumery, cosmetics, disinfection or deodorization of the ambient air.

  It has also been found that the synergistic combination described above

  provides particularly optimized storage stability properties.

  The invention can be implemented according to different embodiments.

  According to a first exemplary embodiment, olibanous essential oil, ground or not, is mixed with pure (or substantially pure) synergistic agent of the eucalyptol and / or borneol type. We can thus have by

example:

  - 30% by volume of oliban essential oil (rectified or not) - and 70% by volume of eucalyptol; or else: - 75% by weight of oliban essential oil (rectified or not), - and 25% by weight of borneol, or elsem: - 30% by volume of oliban essential oil (ground or no), - 70% by volume of eucalyptol,

  and 25% by weight of borneol relative to the essential oliban oil.

  According to a second exemplary embodiment, the composition may consist of a mixture of essential oils constituting a vehicle for the essential active ingredients of the invention, namely: the oliban compounds and the synergistic agent based on eucalyptol and or borneol. In this case, the essential active ingredients of the invention (oliban and synergistic agents) remain naturally present in the same proportions as those mentioned above. In practice, this may, for example, be a mixture of olibanous essential oils, rectified or not, with essential oils, rectified or not, rich in eucalyptol and / or borneol and, preferably, those mentioned above. As regards the essential oils rich in

  borneol, it must be pointed out that they are those which contain borneol in the native state.

  However, the latter has solubilizing virtues particularly interesting, compared to borneol in the form of esters, whose performance is, in

  however, more exploitable in terms of therapeutic properties.

  It is thus possible to adjust the respective contents of native and neolene borneol, depending on the final applications targeted: + in a first embodiment, one can promote the therapeutic properties (synergy) by enriching the composition in borneol in the form esters, + in a second embodiment, the solubilizing properties (perfumery) can be exploited by increasing the amount of native borneol, + and in a third embodiment, it is possible to use the

two types of properties.

  Without limiting this, and as a third exemplary embodiment, it is still possible to mention the alternative of selecting one or more components of the essence of oliban whose alcohols and acids, such as than

  olibanol, olibene, olibanorezene or boswellic acids c, 1.

  In such an alternative, one associates, advantageously, with the (x) component (s) of essential oil of oliban, either eucalyptol, or a mixture of eucalyptol and

  borneol (in pure form or in the form of essential oil (s)).

  The component (s) thus represent (s), preferably, between 5 and 60% by weight of a composition comprising the component (s) and eucalyptol, the

  concentration of 15% by weight being particularly preferred.

  In a preferred way, the synergistic agent associated is eucalyptol; but this does not exclude mixtures of eucalyptol / borneol. In the latter case, the concentration of borneol is between 10 and 50% by weight relative to the mixture of eucalyptol and the selected oliban component (s), preferably 25% by weight. This corresponds to e.g .: component (s) from oliban essential oil (15% by weight), eucalyptol (85% by weight),

  - possibly borneol 25% by weight of x.

  Since the total essence of oliban is all the more soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol that it is resinous, 15. and that the latter tends to disappear with the rectified petrol, it is possible to use unrefined and resinous total oliban essential oil to determine maximum solubility. This improves the

  therapeutic properties of the composition.

  Conversely, it is possible, in particular, for an application in perfumery, to use a non-resinous and rectified oliban essential oil, and for increased diffusion and stability and better solubility in organic solvents,

  to associate it with borneol and / or eucalyptol.

  The composition according to the invention, which combines the essential oil of oliban or one or more of its components with eucalyptol and / or borneol, may be used pure or with an aromatic or non-medicinal additive, cosmetic or

  hygienic. In this case, the different compositions have a complementary role.

  Indeed, when for example a polytherapy, it is easier to use a single preparation rather than several. In this case, several compositions are in the same solution or enter a same dosage form.   The composition according to the invention with an additive or not, can be used with excipients, preferably fatty substances, more preferably ethers and alcohols, ethanol being preferred, as well as various preparations and pharmaceutical forms.
