Abstract

The cable tray is assembled from lengths of perforated steel section. The main part (2) is a generally U-shaped section, with gutters formed in the bottom corners and the top edges rolled over. This strengthens the tray and gives a smooth edge that will not damage cables nor cause injury. Slots are punched at regular intervals in the bottom the tray and in the sides. The second part of the tray installation is a batten (5) to attach the cable tray to a wall or other support. The batten has a profile fitting inside the profile of one side of the cable tray, and fixing screws or bolts are passed through the batten and the wall of the cable tray, so the batten clamps the side of the cable tray to the support. Tabs (6D) in the batten engage is slots (6B) in the tray wall to prevent longitudinal movement between them.
