Abstract

The closed head lamp has a cartridge (3) of a moisture absorbent material fitted inside the head lamp. The cartridge is inserted through a hole in the side of the head lamp. The inner edge of the hole has a sealing ring (7) that fits closely round the outside of the cartridge. The cartridge is retained by a bayonet fitting. The hole is closed by a plate (9). The moisture absorbent material is chosen so it changes colour as its level of saturation changes. The plate (9) covering the cartridge insertion hole is transparent to allow the state of the cartridge to be observed from outside the head lamp.
