Abstract

In a packaging having two foldable hinged shells (1a,b), (a) the shells (1a,b) are hinged at their long sides (1a2, 1b2) for sideways opening; (b) one of the shells (1a) has a foldable part (1d) along the edge of its short side (1a3); and (c) this edge part (1d) can form, in combination with fittings (1f,g) of the shells (1a,b) and after folding the shells together, a stabilising element for maintaining the packaging in the vertical position. Pref. the packaging components are made of thermoformed plastic.

Description

Packaging in particular in thermoformed plastic.

  The invention relates to the technical sector of packaging.

  It is well known to use packaging made of

  thermoformed plastic for the presentation of various products and articles.

  Generally, these packages include two shaped shells

  to be assembled on top of each other to create a closed volume.

  lgmne0 t In addition, each shell may have fingerprints for the

  housing and positioning of the product (s) to be presented.

  It has also been proposed to arrange these shells in order to ensure the stability of the packaging in the vertical position. To get this result

different solutions exist.

  1 5 In a first embodiment, the two shells are produced independently of one another. One of them has at the side of the reduced dimension, an articulated part intended to constitute the bottom, while serving as a base for the entire package, after superposition of the two shells. This solution is of high cost since the two hulls require two separate operations. In addition, difficulties may arise for

couple the two shells.

  In another embodiment, the two shells are obtained in a single thermoforming operation and are joined at their sides of small dimension by an articulated part constituting the bottom of the packaging. This bottom part is profiled in section to also act as a base, to ensure, as

  indicated, the stability of the packaging in vertical position.

  This solution is not, however, satisfactory since the developed flat of the packaging, taking into account the coupling

  of the two hulls, at their reduced dimensions, requires a very large bulk. It is therefore necessary to use specific means of implementation, of high cost.

  In addition, whatever the embodiment, the part constituting the stabilizing base is not locked with the parts

  corresponding hulls. The visual appearance of the packaging is therefore not very satisfactory at this level.

  The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks in a simple, safe, effective and rational manner.

  The problem which the invention proposes to solve is to design a package, the various constituent parts of which are obtained in a single operation, requiring only a small footprint at the manufacturing level with the aim of obtaining a package having perfect vertical stability in order to be able to present it in support on any support. To solve this problem, a remarkable packaging has been designed and developed by the following provisions:

  - the two shells are coupled in an articulated manner by their larger sides to be opened laterally.

  - one of the hulls has an overflow on its short side, located perpendicular to the sides of larger dimension, a portion

  - the projecting part is able to constitute, in combination with arrangements of the shells and after having folded them in superposition, a stabilizing element for maintaining in position

vertical packaging.

  Another problem which the invention proposes to solve is to ensure that the constituent elements of the packaging are perfectly held in the position of use. For this purpose, the folding part has, in combination with the arrangements of the corresponding parts of the shells,

  additional locking means.

  locks are formed by hollow and raised imprints.

  To solve the problem posed of being able to fold the two shells one on the other, taking into account the presence of the part acting as a base, the arrangement of the shells receiving the folding part, are separated at the level of the part d articulation of said

shells, by a notch.

  To solve the problem posed of ensuring the vertical stability of the packaging, the folding part has a cross section of very substantially trapezoidal or triangular shape able to cooperate in support, with the arrangements of the shells, in the form of inclined support flanges . The folding part has a flat support surface

  constituting a bottom for the packaging and for the support of the products.

  According to another characteristic, the two shells are of generally quadrangular shape and are joined by their sides of larger dimension, by a strip having a line acting as an articulation. The different constituent parts of the packaging are

  made of thermoformed plastic.

  As shown in FIG. 1, the packaging designated as a whole by (1) comprises, in a known manner, two shells (la) and (1b). The entire packaging is obtained by thermoforming

  plastic. The shells (la) and (lb) are generally quadrangular.

  Likewise, each shell has indentations (lal) (lbl) whose shapes, dimensions and profiles correspond very substantially

  to the product (s) or article (s) to be packaged.

  According to the invention, the two shells (la) and (lb) are coupled in an articulated manner by their larger sides

  dimension (1a2) (1b2) to be opened laterally. This connection is effected by a strip (1c) having a center fold line (1 cl).

  According to another characteristic, one of the hulls (la) has, overhanging its short side (11a3) situated perpendicular to the side (1a2), a folding part (ld). This part (ld) extends over the entire length of the side (1a3) and is shaped to constitute, in combination with arrangements that has the short sides (1la3) and (1lb3), and after having folded over the shells (la) and (lb), a stabilizing element for holding in position

vertical packaging.

  The folding part (1d) has a cross section of very substantially trapezoidal or triangular shape, delimiting two

  i 5 inclined bearing surfaces (ldl) (1d2).

  As will be indicated in the following description, these

  bearing surfaces (ldl) (1d2) cooperate with flanges (1f) (lg), inclined in a corresponding manner, and which constitute the arrangements of the short sides (1a3) (1b3). The articulation between the projecting part (lb) and the

  side (1a3) is carried out by means of a pre-folding line (le).

  Importantly, the support edges (1f) (lg) are separated by a notch (1h) formed coaxially with the articulation band (1c). These provisions allow the two shells (la) and (lb) to be folded down one on the other in combination with the base part.

  According to another characteristic, the base part (ld) has, in particular in overflow from each of its bearing surfaces (ldl) (1d2) male imprints (li) capable of cooperating with female imprints (1j) formed at the ends support edges (1if) and (lg). In known manner, each of the shells (la) and (lb) delimits a peripheral support rim (1k) and (11) each having means

  complementary locking (lkl) (111) in the form of hollow and raised impressions. Similarly, the part of the rim located opposite the short sides (1a3) (1b3) constitutes a grip handle (lm) (1n).

  The characteristics of this packaging, as defined, prove to be particularly advantageous.

  The articulation of the two shells at their rectilinear sides of larger dimension makes it possible to open them laterally

  1 5 according to the direction of the width, thus making it possible to rationalize the manufacture by thermoforming.

  Being able to lock the base element (ld) at the base of the package, namely at the edges

  support (1f) (lg), improves the overall performance. Note that this base element20 (ld) can have a flat, horizontal support surface (1lp) for the packaged product (s).

  Obviously, the packaging according to the invention can be executed in all shapes and sizes.

  The advantages are apparent from the description.

Claims (8)

  -1- Packaging of the type of those having two articulated shells (la) (1b), able to be folded in superposition and fixed in this position, to constitute a closed volume, for the storage and the presentation of products, characterized in that that: - the two shells (la) (lb) are coupled in an articulated manner by their larger sides (1a2) (1b2) to be opened laterally. - one of the hulls (la) has an overflow from its short side (1a3), 0 located perpendicular to the sides of larger dimension (1la2) (1b2), a folding part (ld).   - the projecting part (ld) is capable of constituting, in combination with arrangements (if) (lg) of the shells (la) (lb) and after having folded them in superposition, a stabilizing element for the maintenance in vertical position of the packaging.   -2- Packaging according to claim 1, characterized in that the folding part (ld) has in combination with the arrangements (1f) (lg) corresponding parts of the shells (la) (lb), means   complementary locking (li) (l1j).   -3- Packaging according to claim 1, characterized in that the arrangements (1f) (lg) of the shells (la) (lb) receiving the folding part, are separated at the articulation part (lc) of said shells, by a notch (1 h).   -4- Packaging according to claim 1, characterized in that the folding part (ld) has a cross section of very substantially trapezoidal or triangular shape capable of cooperating in support, with the arrangements (if) (lg) of the shells (la) (lb), in the form of ledges inclined support.   -5- Packaging according to claim 2, characterized in that the complementary locking means (li) (l1j) are constituted by imprints in relief and in relief.   -6- Packaging according to claim 1, characterized in that the folding part has a bearing surface constituting a bottom (1p) for   packaging and for product support.   -7- Packaging according to claim 1, characterized in that the two shells (la) (lb) are of generally quadrangular shape and are joined by their sides of larger dimension, by a strip (lc)   with a line acting as an articulation (lcl).   -8- Packaging according to claim 1, characterized in that the various constituent parts of the packaging are made of material thermoformed plastic.
