Abstract

The invention relates to a device for whitening salad vegetables in the field, essentially of the escarole or frisée type, of the type comprising a film for protecting against the light designed to cover them for the period necessary for whitening. The device in question is characterised in that the film for protecting against the light (1): a) has dimensions suitable to allow its positioning on a well-determined number of salad vegetables belonging to one and the same row (2) or to two consecutive rows, leaving an aeration space (4) of a few centimetres; b) comprises welded hems (6) suitable for containing a material serving as stiffener and as counterweight (ballasting); c) comprises a plurality of aeration holes (7) guaranteeing the air flow in combination with the lateral aeration spaces (4).
