Abstract

The invention relates to a lock which equally well equips any interior door in any region of Europe. It is made up of a casing (1) ensuring positioning, guidance and protection of the moving parts. A bascule (13), positioned by means of a multi-function rack (14), actuates or does not actuate the latch bolt (3) depending on whether the lock is in the enabled or disabled position. The hub (5) intended to receive 7- or 8-mm square lever handles can fit the distances between centre of 70 or 72 mm; it is systematically disengaged when the lock is disabled. The key (11) with 6 mm driving square is necessary for doors which are to be locked except bathroom or toilet doors, the assemblies of which include the necessary operating member made up of the 6 mm driving square of the disabling knob. The lock according to the invention makes it possible to reduce stocks at the premises of jobbing carpenters.

MORTAR LOCK FOR INTERIOR DOOR
To equip interior residential doors, there are three main types of mortise locks
- Keyed dead bolt, for bedroom door.

 - Cane spout, for kitchen door or living room.

- Lockable cane spout, for bathroom door,
or WC.

In most regions in France, the handles (or crutches) have a 7 mm square drive, the axis of which is 70 mm from the axis of the key hole.

In the regions located in the East: Alsace and Lorraine, as well as in neighboring countries: Germany, Belgium etc ... the square for driving the handles is 8 mm, for a center distance of 72 mm with the hole key.

The habits of using the key on communication doors inside a home have changed. The key is more considered as a removable operating member, no longer representing the exclusive aspect which was attributed to it in the past. On this subject, it should be noted that certain industrial joineries producing doors in series always order the same key number from their lock manufacturers.

The present invention takes account of the needs of the market because the proposed lock can be used in all regions for the three uses necessary in a dwelling.

The evolution of the shape of the keyhole, in the case of manufacturers of property plates associated with crutches to form a set, favors the option that was taken of proposing a key whose stem ends in a square of 6 mm.

The invention therefore relates to a mortise lock capable of fitting a door, whatever the end use of the latter, comprising
- Lockable U-bolt (3).

- Interactive mechanism, distance from shank axis and wrench
40 mm from the edge of the door.

 - Fouillots (5) with square (8) modular 7 or 8 mm.

- Axles, between square of the follower (8) and square of con

The principle of the lock thus established, is based on the particular design of the housing (1), the central wall (19) of which provides certain guides or positions, but above all separates the moving parts.

This principle makes it possible to have two separate functional volumes instead of one in traditional locks. The non-limiting possibilities of such a design are described in the example below
The follower (5) has no bearing inside the housing (1) of the lock; this allows use with plate-crutch sets with center distance 70 square 7 mm or center distance 72 square 8 mm, by removing the reducing sleeve (8) square 8/7.

The above arrangement eliminates friction and wear of the follower), at the bearing surfaces and, by making the system iso-static, by the optimal use of the crutches bearing on their plates, improves the working conditions of the spring stand support (9).

The mechanism has an interactive behavior by the fact that in the unlocked lock position (possible operation of the latch bolt (3) by the crutch), a finger of the locking pin (10) comes to rest on a corresponding zone of the multi-rack functions (14).

In the locked lock position (cannot operate the latch bolt (3) by the stand), the multi-function rack (14) opposes a stop face perpendicular to the pin (4) for driving the latch bolt ( 3) while the rocker (13) in the low position, can no longer be actuated by the reverser (12), thereby causing the follower to disengage (5).

In other words, when using the locking function, the latch bolt (3) in the normally extended position, engaged in the keeper (15) is locked in this position, while the operating parts are disengaged.

This arrangement prevents any deterioration of the operating parts, if the crutch is actuated when the door is locked.

Other peculiarities.

The housing (1) of the mechanism, in polypropylene injected in one piece allows positioning, guidance, protection of moving parts. Four integrated clipping pads, maintain the hinged covers on either side of the central part of the housing; this leads to the removal of the screws commonly used.

The box (1) is colored in the mass, in shades which can harmonize with those of the plate-crutch assemblies, of contemporary design.

For particular decoration applications, using doors with rounded edges, the headrest part of the housing (1) can be molded to the profile required by this configuration.

The stand support spring (9) has a guide on its inside diameter at the bottom and on its outside diameter at the top. This feature was made possible by the design of the molded housing (1).

The reduced size of the interactive mechanism has made it possible to oversize the crutch support spring (9), to make it suitable for supporting the heaviest crutches.

The locking pin (10) of injected polypropylene has a rib (16) in its square in order to retain the key (11) if you wish to leave it on the lock.

Accessories
The key (11), sold separately, is only necessary for doors intended to be locked (example: bedroom doors). It includes a recess (17) on its square, corresponding to the rib (16) of the locking pin (10).

The keeper (16), sold separately, exists in two dimensions a) Small model, for wooden frames, in first installation, requiring a simplified machining of the amount.

b) Large model, for wooden frames, under renovation, in this case, it covers the already existing strike after drilling the necessary cut-out.

Claims (6)

 1) Mortise lock for interior door, characterized in that it comprises a housing (1) with central wall (19) separating, determining two distinct volumes provided with the imprints necessary for the positioning or the guiding of the moving mechanical parts.  2) Mortise lock according to claim 1 characterized in that the half-turn bolt (3) bevelled, has the function of engaging in an opening of the keeper (15), for this purpose, it is constantly pushed position extended by one (or two) half-turn return spring (2).  A drive pin (4) allows the rocker (13) to retract the latch bolt (3); or else this same drive pin (4) prohibits the retraction of the half turn bolt (3), depending on whether the lock is in the unlocked or locked position.  3) Mortise lock according to claim 2 characterized in that the follower (5) intended to receive crutches with square of 7 or 8 mm, can adapt to the axes 70 or 72 mm.  The follower arm (6) which is part of the follower (5) above has a part of its outer contour which is cut in the form of a gear tooth in order to drive the reverser (12) reversibly; this connection operating in the manner of two gears.  The support arm (7) which is part of the follower (5) in connection with the support arm (6), by double peripheral and central assembly, by means of the reducing sleeve (8), is supported on the support spring (9).  4) Mortise lock according to claims 1, 2 or 3 characterized in that the multi-function rack (14) comprises in particular the pivot or articulation point of the rocker (13).  The multi-function rack (14) is actuated by the locking pin (10) to take two positions: high and low.  In the high position: the retraction of the latch bolt (3) is possible by the action of the rocker (13) or by falling the door (action of closing the door by pushing it), the drive pin ( 4) of the U-bolt (3) is free to move back in the release of the multi-function rack (14).  In the low position: the latch bolt (3) is locked in its extended position, the drive pin (4) of the latch bolt (3) cannot move back because the multi-function rack is opposed to it and the rocker (13) can no longer be actuated by the reverser (12).  5) Mortise lock according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the locking pin (10) with 6 mm female square provided with a key retaining rib (11) also comprises a finger on which comes support the multi-function rack (14), when the latter is in the high position.
