According to the invention, the said upper section includes overlap means (221, 222) extending the said first guide means over the upper part of the said handle. Application to sliding doors, and more particularly to decorative sliding doors for cupboards or wardrobes.

Description

The present invention relates to a sliding door system comprising
- at least two leaves, each of said leaves being provided, on the one hand, on a first facade, called front facade, with a profile-shaped handle, disposed along said leaf at a height less than that of the leaf, and , on the other hand, on a second facade, called rear facade, of sliding means,
- an upper section provided with first guide means intended to cooperate with the upper part of said leaves,
- A lower profile provided with second guide means intended to cooperate with said sliding means.

The invention finds its application in the field of sliding doors, and more particularly in that of decorative sliding doors for cupboards or cupboards.

In sliding door systems according to the preamble, currently known, the profile-shaped handles protrude from said upper profile projecting towards the front of the door. Because they are generally simply cut from a profile from the extrusion of a metallic material, aluminum for example, the handles have at their ends sharp cutting edges which, in addition to their unsightly appearance, can constitute a danger for the user.

Also, the technical problem to be solved by the object of the present invention is to provide a sliding door system in accordance with the preamble which would make it possible to remedy the above-mentioned drawbacks.

The solution to the technical problem posed consists, according to the present invention, in that said upper section comprises covering means extending said first guide means on the upper part of said handle.

Thus, the upper end of the handle which has a cut with sharp edges, is then covered by said covering means, which avoids any harmful contact for the user and makes it invisible, hence an improvement in the overall aesthetic.

Another advantage of the sliding door system according to the invention is that it makes it possible to hide the defects due, for example, to the fact that the upper profile is fixed to a ceiling which would not be perfectly horizontal. In this case, in fact, the height of the handle is adjusted relative to the lower end of the upper profile, with the consequence that there is, between the upper end of the handle and the lower part of the upper profile, a space whose interval increases when the handle is brought to the highest part of the upper profile. This day effect, very unpleasant from an aesthetic point of view, disappears behind the covering means provided by the invention.

Furthermore, it is also provided that said sliding means of said rear leaf and the second associated guide means are arranged in a tubular housing closed by a rear side wall. The advantage of the presence of such a rear side wall is that it constitutes a stop protecting the sliding means, and against which can be installed a cupboard or cupboard bottom, or even a floor covering, without leaving of space between the sliding means and said bottom or said floor covering.

The description which follows with reference to the appended drawing, given by way of nonlimiting example, will make it clear what the invention consists of and how it can be implemented.

Figure 1 is a sectional view of a sliding door system according to the invention.

The sliding door system shown in section in FIG. 1 comprises two leaves 101, 102 each of which is provided on a first facade 111, 112, called the front facade, with a handle 121, 122 in the form of an extruded aluminum profile, for example, disposed along said leaf 101, 102 at a height less than the leaf. On the other hand, each leaf 101, 102 is also provided on a second facade 131, 132, called rear facade, with sliding means which, in the embodiment of FIG. 1, include wheels 151, 152 with grooves connected to the respective leaf by fixings 141, 142.

An upper profile 200 is provided with means 201, 211, on the one hand, and 202, 212, on the other hand, intended to cooperate respectively with the upper part of said leaves 101, 102. As can be seen in FIG. 1 , these guide means are constituted by brush seals inserted in longitudinal grooves.

As illustrated in FIG. 1, said upper profile 200 comprises means 221, 222 of covering respectively extending said first means 201 and 202, 211 for guiding on the upper part of said handles 121, 122. By reason of symmetry, a means 230 covering extends the guide means 212 so as to cover the upper part of a handle when the leaves are mounted in the opposite direction to that shown in FIG. 1.

It can be seen in Figure 1 that a lower section 300 is provided with second guide means 301, 302 constituted by longitudinal rails intended to cooperate with the grooves of the wheels 151, 152 forming the sliding means.

As shown in FIG. 1, the wheel of the means 152 for sliding the rear leaf 102, as well as the associated guide rail 302, are arranged in a tubular housing 310 closed by a rear side wall 311.

It is thus possible to perfectly position against said rear side wall 311, for example a bottom 400 for the cupboard for which the sliding door system is intended, without said bottom coming into contact with the rear leaf sliding means 102 , and with the advantage that any object cannot fall behind said rear leaf and block the sliding means.
