Abstract

The invention relates to a seat (1) that can be adjusted for height and has a footrest (4) presenting a slope ( alpha ) which raises the feet by an angle of 9 DEG . The invention relates to a height-adjustable seat associated with a footrest simulating the position of function that coach drivers used to have, which promotes optimal diaphragmatic physiology and therefore very good breathing for a patient deficient at this level.

 In the respiratory rehabilitation "program", the patient is strongly advised to take a position known as a "cab driver", that is to say, sit with the forearms resting on the slightly apart thighs. The patient then performs, either seated on a chair or on the edge of his bed, but on the one hand, the height is not necessarily adapted to his morphology, on the other hand, the feet remain flat on the ground, and may even be in slight plantar flexion (that is toe with the feet down) if he has kept his shoes.

The "cab driver's post" by its adjustable height makes it possible to position the seated patient, the upper thighs perfectly
horizontal, (this must be done with the help of a "level"), the legs are vertical, and the feet are supported on a footrest, raised forward, at an angle of 9 degrees.

This position must be rigorously adopted for the diaphragmatic "unlocking" to take place, and to increase during a
regular practice.

 The patient must therefore take off his shoes, so that his ankles actually have a dorsal flexion (that is to say "raised" feet) of 9 degrees rigorously.

The "cab driver's cab" according to the invention finds its
application, for the respiratory aid of any person suffering from respiratory insufficiency, in particular in physiotherapy either in the office or in the rehabilitation service, or also used permanently, in the patient's home.
