Abstract

Description

The present invention relates to a method of selectively destroying and retrieving bound documents and its implementation device.

The publishing market is cluttered with related documents, such as books, whose circulation has exceeded a rather short-lived demand; also, publishing houses are constantly confronted with problems of destruction of unsold goods.

This destruction, which is mainly aimed at eliminating dead stocks, is carried out by conventional means, such as trimmers, saws or pebbles, without selective collection of residues being properly organized.

The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks. This invention, as it is characterized, solves the problem of defining a process and creating an automatic machine for selectively destroying and recovering bound documents with which the residues can be directly sorted and removed, depending on the their subsequent recycling, without any human intervention other than those of adaptation to the dimensions of the documents, of surveillance and maintenance.

The process of selectively destroying and retrieving bound documents consisting of separating, by slicing, the binding from the remainder of the document, then selecting the components in two batches, consisting respectively of the binding and the cardboard cover on the one hand and the sheets of paper, on the other hand, is characterized by the fact that it consists in: - securing the document to a movable organ ensuring its displacement vertically, binder down, during the whole cycle of destruction and selective recovery - move the document in the cutting plane of a saw blade, in order to obtain the separation, by slicing, of the binding with respect to the rest of the document, - to ensure that the cardboard covers are spaced apart, while keeping them secured relative to each other; I I movable drive member, in order to obtain the separation and the selective release of all the pages of the document, - to separate the cart covers equipped with I movable drive member, in order to obtain the release and the selective recovery thereof, - bring 1 movable member, ensuring the displacement, at the starting point of the cycle, to proceed with a new load .

The slicing operations of binding and releasing of the cardboard cover take place in line with a common conveyor belt.

The carousel handling stations consist of flat, parallel jaws, one of which is fixed vertically and tangentially to the periphery of the carousel and the other of which is made mobile with respect to the pre-carousel.

The soil temporary Idarisation of documents relative to the handling stations is ensured by clamping between the jaws and t by two suckers, vacuum controlled, incorporated respectively in each of the clamping jaws and handling.

The movable jaws of the handling stations are connected to the fixed jaws by means of two pneumatic jacks, the end of the rods is fixed perpendicular to the fixed jaws after having poured said mobile jaws which are secured to the bases of said pneumatic cylinders .

The advantages obtained by virtue of this invention consist essentially in the fact that the stocks of unsold related documents, such as literary works, can be easily eliminated, without the need to immobilize expensive equipment in order to do this. and manpower, provided for more noble uses, in conditions of optimum work safety, since the destruction is carried out automatically, while obtaining some financial compensation for this destruction, One, sulting of better possibilities of recycling of residues due to their selective recovery.

As soon as the handling member 30 is entirely located, again above the front conveyor belt 4, the control system of the machine causes the depression in the suction cups 33 and 34 to be canceled, which results in the falling of the hard cover 11 and 12 on the said strip 4 which evacuates them by grouping them with the bindings previously separated at the post <B>, thus to collect the elements of covers.

Thus we obtain the automatic and selective destruction of related documents, regardless of their size and constitutions, with all the advantages mentioned above.

The control actuating cylinders 60, the jaws 31 and 32 and the vacuum of the suction cups 33 and 34 is, in this example, obtained by means of cams secured to the frame of the machine, which actuate pneumatic distributors, integral with the carousel 20 but other control means could be used, such as electro-valves for example.

It has not been deemed useful to describe the automatic feeding and loading system, which exists in various forms in the state of the art according to whether, for reasons of space, it is desired to resort to a vertical or horizontal feed.

The method and the device according to the invention are intended, mainly, for the destruction, with selective recovery, of the books unsold by the publishing houses-
