Abstract

Shackling joint for a ship anchor chain, characterised in that each piece before assembly has a hook (3) equipped with a stub (6) and with a boss and with the corresponding housing, as well as an opening for giving passage to the end link of the chain, and to constitute, after assembly of two similar pieces, a chain half-link integral with the assembly.

Description

Fig I - Vue de cté des pièces assemblées
Fig 2 - Vue de dessus des pièces assemblées

The present invention relates to the junction member between the mooring chain and the sea anchor, or the chain and the fixing lug of the ship's chain well.
In the dimensional ratio of the standard chain and the corresponding anchor rod, in almost all cases, it is necessary to use either an anchor end ring, or two conventional shackles of different dimensions, the one adapted to the chain, and the other to the anchor
This device has the disadvantage of having a size such that the passage on the davit becomes difficult if not impossible, and on the other hand, to provide no preferential orientation of the anchor itself, during its presentation back on the davit
Obviously, the marine anchor-chain junction1, whether it be flat anchors, jas anchors, grapples, etc. must have several qualities. It must, at one end, articulate on the axis of attachment to the penis remaining in any case in the same plane as this one, and at the other end, articulate freely in all the axes of solicitation. It must still be placed quickly, allow an easy change of the anchor, not have a bulging projection for the passage on the davit, favor the orientation of the anchor when it is placed on the boat, be resistant to mechanical stresses in the same way as the chain and the anchor
Several types of shackles and even junction pieces are known, each of which has its advantages and disadvantages. So-called anchor shackles exist for large chains in which the dimensional chain / anchor ratio is suitable and suitable. The clevis easily passes through the chain link; the pin is recessed so as not to protrude. These shackles have no directional effect on the orientation of the anchor when it is raised on the davit. Another device comprising at each of its ends the same type of articulation has the defect of causing an obstacle to the articulation of the chain at the time of the sinking (moment of embedding)
The purpose of the present invention is to combine the advantages of the aforementioned types in the same joint part without having the drawbacks thereof and to have an anchor with a directional articulation and a chain with a pi-steroidal articulation of great degree of freedom.
The display junction which is the subject of the invention is shown on plates I / II and 2 / II comprising
Fig I - Side view of the assembled parts
Fig 2 - Top view of the assembled parts
Fig 3 - Section on screed
Fig 4 - Perspective of the half-piece.

These figures show that the device is made of two almost identical parts (or I / 2 parts) which assembled together form an assembly having - at one end a yoke (I 3 provided with a hinge pin (53,
anchor side
- at the other end, a half link closed by the assembly and
formed of two hooks (3 3 with openings t 7 3 allowing the
prior passage of the chain end link
- in the center, a massive c 2] intended to ensure positioning
and the mechanical connection of the two parts as well as the two ex
hoppers between them
After setting up the chain, assembly is carried out by cold riveting of the pins (6). The anchor is, as far as it is concerned, seized then and independently, by the threaded axis t 5 3
In order to usefully close the hooks (3) of the link, the bosses t 4) come to complete it and fill the openings (7 3 made for the passage of the chain. The reinforcements (9 3 provided in the body of the part at the connection between the end link and the central part consolidate the assembly for a better resistance to transverse traction when the boat drifts at anchor. The original geometry of the part allows an execution in two practically identical parts, nestable l 'one in the other
Each part can be made of molded material as well as several elements welded together
When the anchor is placed on the chain, the last link of the latter is passed through the opening (7) of the crbchetf3) of each half-part. Then closed by threading the studs (6) in their housing, The assembly already retained in part by the link itself of the chain is further riveted by hammering the end of the studs (6)
In another arrangement, the pins (6 3 only serve to position the whole, the assembly being ensured by bolting (8)
To follow, the rod of the anchor is brought into the yoke c I 3, The axis (5 is put in place by screwing on its arrival in abutment, it prohibits the opening of the yoke
