Abstract

The prosthesis comprises three parts, namely two rod portions (1, 2) which are screwed into the two diaphyses of the two bones to be articulated, and an intermediate element (3) for articulating the two rod portions (1, 2). The articulation element (3) is fixed to the rod portions (1, 2) in the manner of tenons and mortices by means of expansion sleeves (7') made of "memory-type metal alloy". The intermediate element (3) is immobilised in translation with respect to the diaphyses thus joined. The prosthesis according to the invention is suitable for replacing hand and foot articulations implanted in tendon areas.
