The invention relates to a cartridge for disinfecting water, in particular a swimming pool, comprising a block of disinfecting agent contained in a sealed cylindrical envelope, one of the bottoms of which is open to bring into contact with 1 water. the front face of the block, the surface of which remains substantially constant throughout the duration of dissolution of the block.

Water disinfection cartridges of the kind mentioned are commonly used for the treatment of private swimming pools, the size of which does not justify a treatment plant.

They have the advantage of an almost constant supply of chlorine throughout the duration of dissolution, which is not the case of the rollers, whose external surface in contact with water decreases with the reduction of the volume of the roller during of its dissolution. Only a fraction of the outer surface of the cartridge is active and very large cartridges are necessary to obtain a sufficient supply of chlorine or disinfectant, comparable to that provided by rollers.

The present invention aims to allow the production of cartridges of acceptable size capable of nevertheless providing a sufficient and constant supply of chlorine.

The cartridge according to the invention is characterized in that it consists of a suitable mixture of trichloroisocyanuric acid and sodium dichloroisocyanurate to measure the rate of dissolution of the block and the rate of release of chlorine.

Sodium dichloroisocyanurate dissolves very easily in water while trichloroisocyanuric acid is very slightly soluble in water. It is understood that a judicious mixture of the two products makes it possible to dose at will the speed of dissolution of the cartridges and to ensure that a cartridge provides sufficient chlorine despite its reduced volume. A proportion of 4% of sodium dichloroisocyanurate allows for example an increase in the dissolution rate of about 50% and generally meets the needs of users, but other proportions can be used. It is advantageous to produce a range of cartridges with different characteristics, providing the user with a choice of disinfection power adapted to the conditions of use of the swimming pool. It suffices to modify the proportions of the mixture, the dimensions of the cartridge being kept. The dissolution rate and therefore the duration of the cartridge of course vary accordingly. The use of a different colored envelope can be used to identify the type of cartridge. The two products of the mixture are in the form of granules, the proportion of which is easily modifiable. These granules are agglomerated in a compact block inside the envelope to constitute the cartridge, by any suitable means, for example by contraction of the envelope, previously expanded for filling.
