Abstract

Therapeutic compress intended to be applied as an envelope onto the human body, acting by heat exchange. It comprises an envelope made of impervious, strong, heat-welded plastic retaining its flexibility after heating and containing a colloidal substance made up of approximately 20 % of clay or clay derivatives, 79 % of water and 1 % of surfactant.

Description

The present invention relates to a compress restoring heat.

We know compresses of different types, either based on paraffin, fluids or chemical mediator. This type of paraffin pad has the following disadvantages of use: inability to handle the pad cold without putting it to sleep; when it is hot and one of these welds does not fulfill its sealing function, the paraffin may run onto the parts to be treated: risk of burns, risk of damaging the textile parts. With regard to platelets containing fluid, the possibilities of burns, in the event of involuntary piercing of the plastic envelope, are also present. In addition to the aforementioned drawbacks, the greatest risk is the sterilization of the external parts of these wafers. It is obvious that a single wafer used on several people can transmit pathogenic germs, especially if it heats up , is not brought to a boil because of the thermostat which makes it possible to reach the applicable temperature (approximately 6 #), and taking into account that these vats not being emptied at each use, become broths of culture. The compress according to the invention overcomes these drawbacks. The compress consists of a plastic wrap and a colloidal substance. The colloidal substance is made up of three parts: 10 / of clay such as Bentonite, Attapulgite or derivatives of clay whose property is to absorb several times its volume in water.

20 / water, filtered if necessary - 30 / a surfactant for diffusing water. For the calorific qualities of the colloidal substance to be most effective, it is advisable to mix the 3 components so as to obtain a viscosity of approximately 120,000 centistock. The link between water and clay, which is in the form of fine microscopic lamellae, is important because the calorific yield increases as a function of this link. This mixture thus produced makes it possible to be heated throughout its volume, depth at the surface thanks to a microwave generator. The use of a microwave generator allows sterilization when heating the compress. any living substance (germs, bacteria, fungi, spores) containing a certain percentage of water is stabilized in its structure by vibrations and destroyed when its heat tolerance threshold is exceeded. The compress, for therapeutic purposes, allows heat exchange applied to the human body to restore heat. This restitution of the heat of the compress will be done in two stages 1) by rapidly heated water, with rapid heat release, 2) by clay heated by water with prolonged heat release.

Figure 1 shows the device according to the invention. With reference to this drawing, the device comprises a plastic screen mesh (C) with meshes of 7 mm squared and 1.5 mm thick or a plastic material enclosing air bubbles bonded to the side B. A plastic sheet D of the same material is placed as the sides A and B which will be fixed by heat welding on the side B. Between the sides A and B heat sealed is the orifice E for filling which will be thermo -welded after filling of the colloidal substance. The mounting of the device allows the grid partitioning the air or the material enclosing air bubbles C, to produce an air mattress which will have the property of shielding the heat emanating from the interior of A and B and direct the heat to side A which is in contact with the part to be treated. The figu # re 2 represents a variant of the device of FIG. 1. With reference to this drawing, the device comprises 2 faces A and B thermo-welded having a filling orifice E, which will be thernrrsoudée after filling. Inside this envelope is a plastic material C enclosing air bubbles. The mounting of the device allows the material enclosing air bubbles C, to produce an air mattress which will have the property of shielding the heat emanating from the interior of A and B and of directing the heat # towards D who is in contact with the part to be treated.

In the event of accidental deterioration of the compress, the colloidal substance will not escape. The envelope is made of polyvinyl chloride, of parallelepiped shape, slightly granitized.
