Abstract

Silo of generally parallelepipedal shape and with a horizontal flat bottom equipped with an extraction device consisting of a series of screws placed side by side on the bottom of the silo, parallel to one of its sides, so as to cover the entire bottom of the silo and ensure transfer of the stored products to a series of hoppers arranged under one end of the screws. In order to reduce the risks of clogging, the hoppers 22 are arranged edge to edge so as to leave no solid surface between them. Each hopper is fed by a plurality of screws 28, and the screw adjacent to the left edge of each hopper is driven in rotation clockwise, whereas the screw adjacent to the right-hand edge of the hopper is driven in the opposite sense, the senses of rotation of the screws situated between these two end screws being alternate.

Description

The present invention relates to a silo for the storage of fiber products: having a general parallelepiped shape and a flat horiontal bottom, and equipped with an extraction device constituted by a series of screws arranged side by side on the bottom from the silo, parallel to one of its sides so as to cover the entire bottom of the silo and to ensure the transport of the stored products up to a series of hoppers or troughs arranged under one end of the screws.

In known silos of this type, no precaution is taken to ensure that the products transported by the screws are poured onto the junction point between hoppers or troughs and onto the walls thereof. In the case of fibrous products, there is therefore a risk that the products accumulate on these surfaces and cause a blockage of the hoppers.

The object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback by designing the silo and the extraction device so that the products transported by the screws are discharged exclusively into the central part of the hoppers.

The silo object of the present invention is characterized in that the hoppers are arranged edge to edge so as to leave no solid surface between them, in that each hopper is fed by several screws and in that the screw adjacent to the edge the left of each hopper is rotated clockwise while the screw adjacent to the right edge of the hopper is driven in the opposite direction, the directions of rotation of the screws located between these end screws being alternated.

According to a preferred embodiment, the silo comprises at its base a longitudinal chamber disposed laterally and over the entire length of the silo, the communication between this chamber and the interior of the silo being uninterrupted over its entire length the hoppers are connected to the bottom of said chamber and the screws pass through said chamber; the part of the screws passing through said chamber is devoid of thread and provided with disintegrating finger
Advantageously, ie = walls of the silt and the longitudinal walls of the hoppers diverge from top to bottom.

Preferably, the screws will include at least starting from different pitches or c not continuously variable.

La figure 1 est une vue en coupe verticale du silo conforme à 1 'invention;
Other characteristics of the invention will appear on reading the description which follows and refers to the accompanying drawings which show, b. by way of nonlimiting example, an embodiment of the invention and in which:
Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of the silo according to one invention;
Figure 2 is a vertical section, in the vertical plane of the hoppers; and
Figure 3 is a view similar to Figure 2 illustrating a variant.

The silo shown in the drawings is intended for the storage of eucalyptus bark for the supply of the hearth of a boiler.

The silo 10 has a rectangular section and comprises a horizontal flat bottom 12 and four walls 14 which converge upwards so that the section of the silo is larger at its base than at its top. This construction prevents the formation of vaults in the silo.

The stlo is closed by a cover 16 provided with a filling orifice 18 under which is placed an oscillating chute Or tnut other device making it possible to distribute the products over the entire length of the silo.

An elongated chamber 20 is attached to one of the long sides of the silo aa base and communicates with the interior of the silo over its entire length and its entire height. Hoppers 22 are connected to the bottom of the chamber 20i they are arranged edge-to- edge so that no solid surface remains at the bottom of the chamber 20, as can be seen in FIGS. 2 and -. The lower end of each hopper is connected to a feed chute 24 of the hearth 26 of The walls 27 of the hoppers which are parallel to the longitudinal direction of the chamber 20 diverge slightly from top to bottom so as to reduce the risk of blockage.
Transport screws 28 are arranged above the bottom of the silo, parallel to its short sides and over its entire length. Each screw has a shaft supported at its two ends by bearings 30 secured on the opposite walls of the silo and the chamber 20, outside of these, and coupled to a variable speed motor-reduction unit allowing the drive in rotation. The individual drive of the screws allows them to rotate at different speeds. 5r half of the screw adjoining the chamber the thread has a noticeably larger pitch than on the other half. The end part of the shaft located in the chamber 20, above the hopper 225 is devoid of thread and has fingers 34- making it possible to disaggregate the agglomerates which could have formed during the transport of the products by the screws.

Each hopper 22 is fed by several screws, the number of which may be between even OR odd. In all cases, the two screws adjacent to the lateral edges of two neighboring hoppers are located on either side of the vertical plane containing the junction edge 36 of these edges and the screw located to the right of this plane turns in the direction clockwise while the screw on the left turns in the opposite direction; similarly the screw located at the left end of the silo turns clockwise, while the one located at the right end turns in the opposite direction.

The directions of rotation of the other screws, associated with each hopper, and located between the end screws, are alternated. The direction of winding of the threads of the screws is chosen, as a function of their direction of rotation, so that the products are transported by all the screws to the chamber 20 and the hoppers 22. This construction makes it possible to discharge the products transported by the screws in the central part of the hoppers and to avoid them falling on the junction edges and on the side walls of the hoppers where they could remain hooked and accumulate to finally lead to the obstruction of the hoppers.

Inspection hatches - 8 are provided on the ceiling of the chamber 20 and possibly make it possible to unclog the hoppers.

Instead of being formed from parts with different pitches, the screw could comprise a thread with variable pitch in a contiguous manner from one end to the other of the screw.

It is understood that all the modifications that can be made to the; embodiments described by the use of equivalent technical means fall within the scope of the invention.
