Abstract

Device making it possible to fasten an Alpine ski boot 17 onto an Alpine ski safety binding 7, 8 on a snowboard, so as to reduce the risk of injury to snowboarders. The system makes it possible to use ski bindings 7, 8 which are fastened in the direction of the length of the snowboard, while retaining the position of the feet across this same snowboard. The system consists in using two plates, each in the form of a cross, called adaptors 21, the boots 17 being fastened onto the adaptors 21 across the snowboard by virtue of stirrup pieces (clevises) 11, and the adaptors 21 engaging in the bindings 7, 8 via two ends. The system is accompanied by two cables 13 connecting the adaptors 21 together so that one of the adaptors entrains the other at the time of a fall, both feet being freed at the same time. Wedges 1, 2, 3 are fastened at the centre and under the ends of the adaptors so that there is no play between the adaptors and the snowboard.

Description

SKI SHOE ADAPTER, SKI FIXING, ON SNOW SURFERS
The present invention makes it possible to use ski boots with traditional safety ski bindings without modifying the position of the feet on a snowboard, the feet being across the surf.

Until now there were two systems to attach the shoes to the surf: there was a flexible model consisting of a plastic shell screwed to the snow holding boots studied for snow by a clamping system with hooks. The other, more rigid system consisted of screw-on plates with stirrups gripping the fore and aft heelettes of the alpine ski boots.

The major disadvantage of both models is that the feet are prisoners of the surf and can not eject in case of dangerous falls this causing multiple traumas including the knees and ankles.

The invention makes it possible to use alpine ski bindings with safety which, they are recognized as reliable and allow the release as much in rotation as in fall before or back (all depends on the model ,.

The problem being the lack of space on the width of the surf, the safety ski bindings can only be placed in the direction of the length while the feet are across the surf, (see fig 1 and 2 :, c That's why I found a system that addresses this problem.

The system consists of manufacturing two plates (21 shaped

cross called adapter. Each plate has two branches (19) and (20) which intersect in their environment. The two branches (20) are equipped with stirrups (11) at their ends to grip the ski boots (17) by their heelpieces (22) located at their ends. The two branches (19) are each equipped on top of two halves parrallélipipèdes called buttresses (6) separated from each other by a space receiving the shoes (17). The ends of the legs (19) have the same shape as the heelettes (22) of the ski boots, and are embedded in the bindings (7 and 8, fixed on the surf.

tions (7 et 8) empêchant celles-ci de se déclencher complétement lors de leurs rotations.tions (7 and 8) preventing them from being triggered completely during their rotations.

The width (16) of the branches is about 80mm so that their lift is sufficient compared to the fasteners (7 and 8) and the shoe (17). The height of the buttresses (6) must be at least two-thirds of the height of the flanks of the shoes (17) in order to be able to block the maximum laterally. The space between the two buttresses (6) of the adapter forms a kind of "U" which should be slightly wider than the maximum width of the shoe (17) so that the latter can easily fit .

The bindings are safety ski bindings already on the market. For optimum operation of the system it is preferable to have front stops (7) which can be rotated about an axis (9) and which can be lifted from the rear to the front (internal rotation drops, the rear stops (8) must pivot to the right and to the left and lift from front to back (fall in internal rotation, external, and forward) .

The setting of these bindings is based on the weight and level of the surfer. The fasteners (7 and 8) are not necessarily mounted parallel to the longitudinal axis of the surf.

They can be mounted slightly at an angle, depending on the surfer, his level and his way of surfing.

SYSTEM OPERATION
During a fall, the weight of the body exerts pressure on the shoes (17) which are transmitted to the ski bindings (7 and 8) by the adapters, these are triggered according to the direction and the intensity of the forces which their are transmitted. The buttresses (6) serve to refine the transmission of forces by limiting as much as possible the clearance between the adapters (21) and the shoes (17), supporting laterally.

The cables (13) must be stretched between the adapters (21) because when a foot loosens with its adapter it must immediately drive the other adapter by means of cables (13) allowing to remove the two feet by same time.

The assembly is embellished with cables (13) connecting the plates (21) to each other by the ends of the branches (20), as well as six cords (1,2,3) fixed to the surf and independent of the adapters (21) .

The stirrups (11) are four in number; two by adapters (21) ensserring the heels (12) and the front parts ofshoes. The stirrups (11) are attached to the branches (20) of the adapters by a system of notches (18) drilled on the flanks of the branches (20) in which ilgse wedge. Several notches (18) allow the stirrups (11) to be moved away from or closer to one another so that shoes of different sizes can be placed without changing the anteroom, the stirrups being removable.

The stirrups (11) at the front of the shoe (17) are equipped with levers 12; used to put them in force on the heels 122) fronts, all then being blocked by the pressure exerted by the front and rear calipers on the shoe. The length of the branches (20> is a function of the size of the shoe (17. and its width is identical to that of the same shoe.

The branches (20) are pierced right across their width at their extremities, so as to receive the cables (13) which will pass through these perforators, thus connecting the adapters between them.

The cables (13) are of the same type as those of release brakes 10 with a protrusion, 15) at one end and a clamping locking system (14) su cable identical to those of the bicycle brakes to the other end. The length of the cables (13) is a function of the placement of the fasteners (7 and 8)
The wedges (1, 2, 3) are placed on the ends and in the middle of the branches (20) of the adapters (21), limiting the clearance between the adapters and the surf, and consequently reducing the risk of tearing off the fasteners. (7 and 8) during heavy pressure.

The length of the branches (19) is greater than 260mm so that the front (4) and the rear (5) of the branches (20) do not abut prematurely against the fixa
The cables (13) being removable can be removed if we want the adapters to eject only simultaneously.

The advantage of this shoe system with adapter is that you can do traditional skiing and snowboarding with the same shoes, either by removing the adapter for skiing, or by putting the adapter for surfing .
