Abstract

The invention relates to an improved device for the zig-zag folding of a continuously fed web of flexible material, such as tape. According to the invention, the device comprises two units comprising, in particular, two pinions (15, 16) interacting with a fixed rack (17) arranged transversely in the table top, during the transverse movement of the carriage (7), the said pinions (15-16) interacting with means (19-20) which consist in making each of the rollers (4 and 5) alternately positive, respecting the direction in which the web unwinds, whatever the direction of movement of the carriage, and in that it comprises a means (27) acting during the shaping of the folds of the tapes, at the outlet of the rollers (4 and 5), and consisting in exerting an alternating temporary pressing and pushing action on each of the folded parts of the tapes, accompanying the direction of movement of the carriage.

Description

The invention relates to an improved device for folding in

  zig zag of a flexible band of material

textile fed continuously.

  The invention relates to the technical sector of machines and materials for conditioning flexible belts in

  textile material of the type ribbons and similar products.

  Ribbons and other textile tapes manufactured continuously on looms must be packaged in packaging. To do this, an old method consists in folding them zigzag in a continuous movement back and forth determining lengths of bands. To do this, it is used on an entablature provided for this purpose, a carriage consisting of rotating rollers between which the flexible strip is introduced and which by its alternating movement forms a zig zag and

  The device thus comprises means acting during the shaping of the folds of ribbons and alternatively, according to the position of the carriage and therefore of the rollers (4 and 5), on the portions of folded ribbons. This action consists, in the exercise of a pressure and a temporary push, against the part of the ribbon set in fold and accompanying the sense of

moving the carriage.

  This means consists, in a belt (27), disposed at the output of the rollers (4 and 5), automatically accompanying the movement of the carriage, this, in order to maintain the layers or portions of tapes folded and facilitate the release of the setting device in fold, by a progressive advance movement

  More specifically, this belt is fixed at these ends (27-1) (272) on rods or pins (28), mounted at a fixed position on the entablature but, in a substantially advanced position, relative to the front plane of the rollers ( 4-5}

  displacement, following the carriage, as it appears

in Figures 7 and 8.

  In addition, two protective plates are provided

  (33-34), on the front face of the aforementioned device.

  These plates are bolted to the spacer plate (21). These plates protect and seal the return zones of the belt near the rollers (4 and 5) and allow,

  in addition, a guidance of the tape at the exit of the rollers.

  Thus, by the aforementioned mounting of the belt, it is understood that the strands (27-3) thereof between their attachment zone at their ends and the return rods associated with the mounting of the rollers (4 and 5), will have a positive action on the parts of ribbons shaped folds. The angulation () will allow alternately in the direction of movement of the carriage the positive action of a strand of the belt on the folds formed ribbon. This action will be achieved by the effect of a progressive pushing force, which will tend to reduce the folds of ribbons against each other and to maintain them
