Abstract

The present invention relates to a crate for bottles 10 of composite construction.   The central body (12) is made of a suitable synthetic plastic material and can be obtained by suitable molding, for example injection molding, of the chosen synthetic plastic material. The central body consists of a base (16) on which come to rest two crossed families of partitions (18) and (20), perpendicular to each other. Two external partitions (22) also rise from the base (16). Each external partition (22) has an orifice (24) extended on its periphery by a tubular projection (26), directed outward, as can also be seen in Figures 2 and 3. Both

  assemblies (24) and (26) constitute the handling handles.

  The families (18) and (20) of vertical partitions of the central body (12) are perpendicular to each other and delimit compartments (28) of square section in which bottles (not shown) can be arranged being separated from each other . The base (16)

  Although this reduction in height of the partitions implies a reduction in strength and rigidity of the central body (12), this is without drawback since the fitting of the sleeve (14), when the latter is fitted, in an adjusted manner, on the

  central body (12), restores the qualities of resistance and rigidity desired. The central body (12) is therefore to be of a lighter construction, its manufacture requires less material and, consequently, the manufacturing costs can be reduced. The sleeve (14) is made of corrugated cardboard. It is obtained from a sheet of cardboard which is folded in shape, to the size of the box, as indicated, and the ends of which are assembled with a covering (38). The sleeve is pierced with two orifices (40) intended to receive the tubular projections (26) of the external partitions (22) when the sleeve (14) is assembled to the central body (12), as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. The sleeve cardboard (14), when it is corrugated cardboard as it appears in the torn area (43), has upper sections (42) turned over or covered by strips (42) for protection purposes; of course, the lower sections (44) are treated in the same way. By thus protecting the most vulnerable part of the sleeve, moisture is prevented from entering the carton and its useful life is extended. Referring now to Figure 2, the

Box according to claim 2, characterized in that the cardboard used for the sleeve is a corrugated cardboard (43).   4. Box according to one of claims 2 or 3,   characterized in that the sleeve is' made from a sheet of cardboard whose upper and lower edges (42, 44) are returned.   5. Box according to claim 3, characterized in that protective strips (42) are applied to   cover the edges of the corrugated cardboard.   6. Box according to claim 1, characterized in that   that the sleeve is made of synthetic plastic.   7.
