Abstract
834,132. Bottle crates. BRITISH METAL CRATES Ltd. Nov. 27, 1957 [Jan. 3, 1957], No. 261/57. Class 18. An insert, Fig. 1, enabling a wooden crate to accommodate bottles, comprises one or more layers of longitudinal and transverse wires 3, 4, welded together where they cross, means 5 for engaging the bottom of the crate to space the layers therefrom, and a handle 6 whereby the crate can be carried after the insert has been secured in position. The insert may be held in position by battens secured to the inner face of the crate, or by clips driven into the crate, or by extending the handle 6 down through the crate and along the undersurface thereof. The wires 3, 4, may have surrounding frames 1, 2 and these may be bulged at their corners as at 14, Fig. 4, to allow some extension or contraction along the line X-X whereby the insert size can be varied to fit crates of slightly different sizes.
