Abstract

The invention relates to a device consisting of a plurality of hollow and solid straight rigid tubes 3, 4, 5, 6 and two "U"-shaped solid tubes forming two somewhat elastic clips which fit into the hollow tubes 3, 4, 5 and 6, sliding with no play, and also a flexible link 8 requiring no effort to bend it, so that the device is jointed. The user withdraws one of the solid "U"-shaped tubes 1 or 2 and can then insert the newspaper into the device, the latter being of a "U" shape; he pushes back the previously withdrawn "U"-shaped tube into the respective hollow tubes and instals the device on its newspaper, adapting the format of this "binder" to that of the newspaper; by sliding the hollow tube 4 on the solid "U"-shaped tube 1, he gives the paper a rigid or pliable binder to suit his choice. The device according to the invention is particularly intended to provide a binder for newspapers made up of unbound double sheets, it being applicable to any newspaper format.

Description

 The present invention relates to a device making it possible to facilitate the reading of any format of Journal by making the Joins of the sheets rigid, while making it possible to fold it.

 It is possible to find in hotels or libraries a device aiming at the same goal: two wooden slats united by tightening the twist of the newspaper; these slats allow mainly to hang the 7th newspaper on a support and are neither foldable nor adaptable to the format of the newspaper.

 The device according to the invention makes it possible to obtain a rigid binding of the pages of a newspaper while adapting to the format thereof, thus eliminating the rigid ends which could protrude on either side of the newspaper.

 Furthermore, the newspaper can be folded in half, Dar convenience, or to be read in this state, the binding folds down to form two rigid parts folded over each other.

The present invention will be better understood from the detailed description which follows, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:

 According to a preferred embodiment, the device according to the invention consists of an assembly of four straight tubes (3), - (14), () and (6), hollow, with identical inside and outside diameters: two of the hollow tubes , (3) and (4) are connected by a solid tube, (7), of small length, partly fitted and fixed in the hollow tube (3), fitting exactly into the hollow tube (4), forming therefore a set (3) - (4) rigid, nestable and demountable at will; the two identical hollow tubes (5) and (6), are connected at one of their ends by a flexible link, (8), foldable without effort, for example a piece of rope of length three centimeters, which is slid from a centimeter and fixed (glued, ...), on the one hand in the hollow tube (5), the other end of this flexible link (8) being, by the same baleen, slipped by a centimeter and fixed in the hollow tube (6), this forming an assembly (5) - (6) integral but totally disarticulated in its middle.

 The four branches of two solid "U" tubes, (1) and (2) constituting two clamps with a certain elasticity, fit together exactly, by each of the free ends of the assemblies (3) - (L) and (5) - (6), in the hollow tubes, respectively (4) and (5) for the two branches of the "U" tube (1), (3) and (6) for the two branches of the "U" tube U "(2). The device thus formed is said to be" closed ": it is rigid because the diameter of all the solid tubes (1), (2) and (7) is such that they slide without play, and with a little resistance in the hollow tubes (3), (= 11) (5) and (6) in which they are fitted, so that the device according to the invention, thus.formed, does not destroy when l is manipulated.

 By sliding the hollow tube (4) over the "U" tube (1) until the small tube (7) fixed on the tube (3) is outside, we give to the device an articulation in its middle (the assembly forms a small solid tube (7) and the hollow tube (3) being about the same length as the hollow tube (6)) allowing it to be bent without effort, this thanks to the flexible link (8) connecting the two hollow tubes (5) and (6): the device is said to be "open".

 On the other hand, the rigid assembly formed by the hollow tubes (3) and (4) thanks to the small solid tube (7) is the same length as the assembly formed by the two hollow tubes (5) and (6), including the Flexible link (8), this allowing perfect symmetry of the device according to the invention when the latter is said to be "closed".

 By way of compensation, but not exhaustive, all the hollow and full tubes can be made of plastic, fiberglass, or even metal; the flexible connection means (8), hollow tubes (5) and (6), can be, as in the description above, of the cord, but also of rubber, or even a flexible spring.

Once the device according to the invention has been mounted, it is used as follows:
- Being in the "closed" position, removing the solid tube at (1). or (2), the assembly formed of all the other pieces form a "U" which can take in "vice" all the sheets of a Journal at their Joint, the flexible side formed Hollow tubes (5). (6) and the flexible link (8) located inside, the other side, rigid, formed of hollow and full tubes (3), (4) and (7) entering outside the newspaper.

- Once installed, simply re-fit the U-shaped tube (1) or (2), previously removed, on either side of the
Joining the sheets and the device is fully installed, "closed": the binding is rigid and adapted to the format of the
Newspaper. The device being fixed, by playing on the two U-shaped tubes (1) and (2), the rigid (3) (14) and (7) and flexible (53 ( 6) and (8), relative to the height of the latter, this making it possible to slide the hollow tube (4) over the solid "U" tube (l) to obtain the "open" device , to fold the Journal in two equal parts.

 The device according to the invention is particularly intended to provide binding to newspapers composed of double sheets which are not connected to each other.

Claims (5)

 1) Adaptable and foldable binding device for newspapers composed of double sheets not connected to each other, characterized in that it comprises four hollow, straight tubes (3), (4), (5) and (6), two of which, (3) and (4), are connected by a solid tube, (7), of short length, partially fitted and fixed in the hollow tube (3)  fitting exactly into the hollow tube (4), thus forming a set (3) - (4) rigid, straight, nestable and dememboitement will; and two other identical hollow tubes, t5) and (6), are connected at one of their ends by a flexible link, (8), effortlessly foldable, giving an assembly (5) - (6) integral but totally disarticulated in the middle; in that it further comprises two solid U-shaped tubes, (1) and (2), constituting two clamps endowed with a certain elasticity, the four branches of which fit exactly by each of the four free ends of the sets  (3) - (4) and (5) - (6) in the hollow tubes, respectively (4) and  (5) for the two branches of the solid "U" tube (1), (3) and (6) for the two branches of the solid "U" tube (2).  2) Device according to claim 1 characterized in that the solid tubes in "U" (1) (23, sliding in the hollow and straight tubes (4), (51 and (3), (6), allow to adapt the device has any log format.  3) Device according to claim 1 or 2 characterized in that by sliding the hollow tube (4) on the solid tube 'in "V" (1) until. that the small solid tube (7) fixed on the hollow tube (3) is there outside, the device is given a hinge in the middle, the assembly becoming foldable.  4) Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the diameters of all the solid tubes (1), (2) and (7) are such that they slide without play, and with a little resistance in the hollow tubes in which they are fitted (3), (4), (5) and (6), so that the device according to the invention does not destroy itself when it is handled.  5) Device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that all the tubes, hollow and solid, can be made of plastic, fiberglass, or even of metal and in that the flexible connection means (8) tubes (5) and (6) can be, for example, cord, rubber, or even a flexible spring.
