Abstract

The invention relates to a method making it possible to stiffen cardboard and to give it better mechanical resistance qualities. It consists in injecting, under pressure, rigid expanded foam m into ribs which are closed and connected to the surface of the cardboard; these ribs are cardboard shapes c which are folded, channelled, cut out or shaped otherwise and arranged in parallel, in a radiating pattern, intersecting or in another pattern according to the aesthetic or technical requirement. The finished assembly has the form of: - reinforced cardboard panels with one face plane and the other ribbed; - reinforced cardboard panels with two plane faces; - reinforced cardboard profiled sections with varied cross sections. The method according to the invention makes it possible to produce high-performance cardboards for use in many fields and, in particular, in decorating, furnishing and construction.
