Abstract

The invention relates to a cross-shaped interlocking paving stone, making it possible to produce floor coverings used for roadways, courtyards, squares and other various areas. The paving stone is in the shape of a cross having four arms of equal widths a, the length of an arm being equal to its width. The dimension characteristics of the cross-shaped paving stone make it possible to obtain a doubly symmetrical pavement which has the advantage of offering great resistance to pushing stresses, whatever their direction.

Description

PAVES CRUCIFORMES
CRUCIFORM PAVERS
The present invention relates to a tangle pavement. This kind of floor covering is mainly used for access roads, pedestrian paths, courtyards, squares or the like.

This paver is preferably made of pressed concrete.

We already know the tangle pavers whose configuration -is such that during their installation, parts of one of the elements penetrate a little bit into the parts of neighboring elements; this results in better assembly and the entire coating thus formed resists much better the shifting of the blocks between them.

Among this type of paving stone, there are cruciform shaped ones having the lateral surfaces profiled in undulation.

This is the case of the French publication patent NO 2 358 510. In fact, this patent has a cross-shaped paving stone whose branches of the same length have a width equal to twice this length. The opposite end surfaces of the branches of the cross com.prer.nert each at least two sinusoidal undulations, while the lateral surfaces of the branches comprise only one. The dimensional characteristics of this cross included the realization of an assembly which differs along the perpendicular ccplanar axes centered on the cruciform paving stone. This is due to the fact that the width of a branch is equal to twice its length. Indeed, in a first di tion, the ends of the two opposite branches are opposite each of it from a branch end of the adjacent block. On the other hand, in the second direction perpendicular to the first, the ends of the two other opposite branches are each supported simultaneously on two lateral faces of branches of two adjacent blocks.

This difference in assembly leads to a different behavior under thrust constraints.

The object of the present invention is therefore to produce a symmetrical assembly which will have a resistance equivalent to all the thrust constraints in the two main perpendicular directions.

Longueur = Largeur = a. To meet this goal, the invention is characterized by a cross-shaped block (fig. 1) whose 4 branches are equal and for each of them, the length is equal to the width. Length = Width = a. In a way, the paver can be cut into 5 squares on side a. In practice, we will give the value of 7 cm at side a. The paver thickness can vary between 4 and 8 cm depending on the use. In order to avoid sharp angles, this paver has a chamfer at the periphery of its upper and lower part, which allows, on the one hand to facilitate the installation and on the other hand, to improve the aesthetics.

The dihedral angles formed by the branches between them will be rounded according to a radius of curvature r = 4. These corners thus rounded limit the shearing effects of the elements under the effect of the loads they are called upon to support and therefore avoid the incipient fractures.

Thanks to the particular dimensions of the block, object of the invention, it is possible to produce the paving shown in FIG. 3
The block shows a doubly symmetrical shape, that is to say that the symmetry of the contours exists as well along the longitudinal axis as along the transverse axis. It follows that as well its executive.

que s pose sont faciles, celui-ci pouvant être retourné.that s poses are easy, this one can be turned over.

This assembly is particularly homogeneous and has the advantage of not coming apart even when it is subjected to a thrust perpendicular to the plane of Figure 2. Any thrust conWralr.te propagates by attenuating in all directions d paving equally.

The paver configured according to the invention can also be laid in assembly with a square paver of side 2; a composite pavement is obtained according to FIG. 3 which presents the neutral symmetry that the assembly in 2. The invention is not limited to what has been described, because this cross paver can be assembled with other pavers of square shape cu rectangular t the onensions are either equal to the parameter a, or equal to whole multiples of a. Example: square of dimension a, rectangle width = a and length = 2a, etc ...

The edges of the banks are, in some cases, made with the cross paving stone from which a branch has been cut and the latter will therefore have the shape of a tau.
