Abstract

The invention relates to a product serving for assembling various supports to be printed continuously, but manufactured independently of said support to be printed. This product shaped in the form of a tape thus makes it possible to assemble any type of support to be printed, whatever the shape and texture in question. It is composed of a continuous tape 1 divided over its entire length into two parts. One of these parts 2 covered with self-adhesive product is laid onto the edges of the supports to be printed; the other part 3, provided with holes to the standards compatible with the machines equipped with pin feeds, serves for driving the support to be printed. The separation of this new tape from its support to be printed takes place after printing either simply by a lateral pull or automatically at the exit of the printer by a separator device provided for this purpose. This product is intended for any system for the continuous printing of documents of various formats (A4 sheet, envelope, visiting card, etc.) and eliminates the marks inherent in the systems of the "Caroll" tape type and the difficulties encountered in the adjustment of so-called sheet-by-sheet systems.

Description

The present invention relates to a product making possible the continuous passage of documents, various in size and texture, over printers or any other typewriter,
Currently, two systems exist which represent at least two disadvantages each:
-The "Caroll" strip system
-The system says "sheet by sheet"
In the first case, the strips are integral (they are part) of the support to be printed and leave traces, however small, on the edges of the documents to be printed when they are detached. On the other hand, this principle does not does not allow printing directly on certain supports. For example, to print addresses on envelopes it is necessary to resort to operations: 1 printing a listing on which are positioned self-adhesive labels and then peel these labels from the li-sting to place them on the envelopes.

In the second system, called sheet by sheet, the settings are difficult and it often happens that the sheets to be printed overlap on the one hand, and on the other hand it is not possible to switch to any size of media to be printed on this type of material, for example business card.

 The invention overcomes these four problems.

The invented product is a strip independent of the support to be printed (opposite to the Caroll strip). which strip divides into two parts over its entire length. One of the parts receives a self-adhesive film and the other part consists of a series of holes with standard dimensions of the pin trainers that are found on the market.
This strip is positioned on each side of the supports to be printed if it is thus possible to assemble documents in listing whatever their shape and texture. When laying this strip on the supports to be printed, the spacing between successive documents can vary on demand to meet the desire of the user or the constraints of the printers.

The removal of these strips after passing through printing can be done manually by simple lateral pulling or automatically by a separator dlspositlt adapted to the printer.

These bands are placed on the edges, on each side of the supports to be printed, on the printed side preferably to ensure better passage on the printer roller; they can be positioned in the same way but on the back of the document to be printed.

The part which receives the self-adhesive film is normally rectangular and continuous but it can take other forms and possibly be discontinuous in order to adapt to certain specific supports to be printed.

The product of this invention aims to make continuous printing possible on any medium, whatever their shape and drapery, and to remove operations of peeling and re-gluing of a printed medium on a medium to receive the printing, as for example in the case of the self-adhesive labels mentioned in line 17.

The laying of these new strips will be done either at printers on an industrial basis on the supports chosen by customers or, at the end user, of such listings using small devices provided for this purpose.

It thus becomes possible to have ready-to-go lists for any medium to be printed: A4 sheets, business cards, envelopes of any size and even media that do not meet common formats.
