Abstract

A cheque processing device comprises an internal path defined by a notched belt 10 passing in a closed circuit so as to go between entry rollers 111, 112 to an outlet roller 115 followed by an outlet chute 125, 126. Along this path are provided a magnetisation and CMC7 or E13B character reading station 50, a station 60 for printing of the cheque, by the use of a matrix print head capable of moving in a circular arc allowing printing on the front or back of the cheque, at the choice of the user, a station 70 for printing or post printing the amount of the cheque in CMC7 or E13B characters, and a station 80 for printing the fixed endorsement. The subsequent processing of the cheque is then considerably simplified, for the customer and the tradesman as well as the bank.

Description

Device for processing securities, in particular checks.

The invention relates generally to a device for processing paper-cardboard titles, and applies in particular to the processing of checks.

The Applicant has already described various aspects of titles processing devices, in French Patent NO 75 37 475, published under NO 2 334 501, in French Patent Application NO 83 11 444, published under NO 2 548 804, as well as in French Patent Applications NO 84 10378, N "84 10 379 and NO 84 10 380, not yet published. These previous Patents and Patent Applications mainly concern transport tickets or similar documents.

There is concern right now about improving the processing of checks. It is well known that the bank processing of checks with a view to their passage in a clearing house is expensive.

It has been proposed to remedy this by so-called electronic payment solutions. But these solutions do not seem likely to completely eliminate checks.

These will therefore subsist in many trade operations.

The Applicant then posed the problem of producing a check processing device which can be implemented locally in many merchants, therefore inexpensive, while simplifying as much as possible the operations which remain the responsibility of the customer, the merchant, and the issuing bank.

In this sense, we contact for example devices which fill a check in a simplified manner, but transversely to the usual writing direction on it.

A check thus filled out is often misunderstood by the account holder, who is used to respecting different writing rules, previously strictly applied. In addition, these devices are far from completely solving the problem posed.

The present invention offers a device for processing securities, in particular checks, which can on the contrary provide a satisfactory solution to this same problem.

A first object of the invention is to provide a device for processing titles capable of filling line by line a document such as a check, in clear writing, using printing means made as simple and as inexpensive. as possible.

Another object of this reversal is to correctly carry out a check in a path defined by a simple belt, ensuring that the check remains parallel to its direction of movement over its entire path.

Another object of the invention is to define a device in which a position reference relative to the check, valid at all points on the journey thereof, is very simply determined.

Another object of the invention is to allow the reading of standardized characters carried by a check, in particular of CMC7 or E13B characters, and this also in a simple and inexpensive manner.

The invention also aims to allow post-marking of the check by adding to it the amount entered according to standardized characters (CMC7, E13B, etc.).

Another object of the invention is to allow the affixing, on the back of a check, of a backing form specific to the beneficiary of this check. This formula can be fixed or variable.

The invention relates to a device for processing securities, in particular checks, which is of the type comprising means for driving the title, from an entry, along an internal path of the device, these drive means comprising a belt. which relies on rollers mounted on a carrier plate to follow a closed circuit, part of which defines said internal path, which passes at a printing station.

According to a first aspect of the invention, the printing station comprises, on one side of the internal path, a printing head associated with a transfer ink ribbon, moved using a motor controlled by the software ( the ribbon moves at each strike of the needle by a distance equal to the diameter of the needles) and mounted by articulation on the carrier plate of the aispcsiti, this head of immoression therefore being subject to vertical displacement according to an arc of a circle and, on the other side of the internal path, an anvil suitable for operating in any position of the print head on the arc of a circle.

Preferably, the anvil has a useful part of horizontal dimension at least equal to the arrow of said arc of a circle. In practice, the anvil is integral with the carrier plate. Advantageously, the anvil receives said belt in a recess, flush with the rest of its useful part, and, at least for certain applications, in continuity with it.

The print head can be simply hinged on the frame. As a variant, the print head is mounted on an arm of a structure articulated in a deformable parallelogram, which allows it to follow a path in an arc while remaining parallel to itself.

According to another aspect of the invention, the belt driving the ticket along a longitudinal edge thereof, there is provided, downstream of the first roller where the ticket passes between roller and belt, a ticket braking means, such as one.

brush, placed along its opposite longitudinal edge, which ensures that the ticket is properly introduced, with its longitudinal edge in contact with said carrier plate.

The device may also include, upstream of said first roller, a ticket presence detector, such as a photoelectric barrier, placed in the immediate vicinity of said carrier plate. It is also useful that it has, at the printing station, another presence detector, such as a photoelectric barrier, also placed in the immediate vicinity of the support plate, which provides a relatively position reference. to two edges of the title for printing on it.

According to yet another aspect of the invention, in which the title is a check or the like, provided with standardized characters readable automatically, there is provided along the internal path a station for reading these characters, which makes it possible to recognize the title or its issuer and determine the printing format on this title. The standardized characters being of the encoded magnetic type, the reading station comprises a head for reading these characters, a head which is also used before reading for the pre-magnetization of the same characters.

The drawings of a certain character and / or made to scale, in particular the shapes 2A, 3, 4A, 4B, 4C, 5, 6, 7 and 8, can be used to complete the description as well as to define the invention.

Referring to Figure 1, it is recalled that a check must, before signature, be completed with its amount in figures (BPF location), with its amount indicated a second time, imperatively in words if it is handwriting, the second inscription being however admitted in figures if it is made in printed characters. The check must also include the name of its beneficiary, as well as the indication of the place and the date of its issue.

The account holder signs the check. After that, it is endorsed by the merchant, using an endorsement form, supplemented by the merchant's signature, then returned to the merchant's bank (in principle different) for collection. Transfers of funds relating to checks are subject to interbank clearing. This operation is of course automated.

Its starting point is an automatic reading of the track in standardized characters, in France of the characters CMC7, which includes the check. From the outset, this track includes the indication of the check number, the identification of the issuing bank, the agency where the account of the holder is kept, as well as the account number of the latter. There remains an important information which cannot appear on this track from the beginning, and which is the amount of the check. The so-called "post-marking" operation consists in having an operator enter the amount in CMC7 characters of the check, in the light of the two indications of amounts that it contains in clear. This operation, necessarily manual, is one of the main causes of the cost of the bank processing of a check.

It will be understood below that the present invention allows a considerable simplification of the operations recalled above, which will be able to be carried out all at the same time, and automatically, upon the conclusion of the transaction which is paid for by this check.

Reference is now made to Figures 2 and 3.

A toothed belt 10 follows a closed circuit path along rollers 111, 112, 113, 114, 115, 120, 131, 132, 133 and 139.

The rollers 111, 112, 113, 114 and 115, which define the internal path that a check can undergo inside the device, have a height (transverse to the plane of the figure) which is of the same order as the width of the check . They are therefore hatched.

The check will be introduced from an entry station 100, to pass between the rollers 111 and 112, and will then be trapped between the part 10 of the toothed belt and the roller 112, and so on to the roller 115. The lower longitudinal edge of the check is maintained on the path by a flange which is identified at 155, 165 in FIG. 3. After this flange there comes a leaf spring 170 to which we will return later.

Next is a print anvil 180.

On the other side, the check is, from entry to exit, held by a flange 150, which is higher at 151 to also serve as a printing support for the fixed backing.

After the roller 113 is another high flange 161, then the flange 162 which houses in the lower part a head for reading magnetic characters (CMC7 or E13B).

Finally, beyond the roller 115, the check can be taken up by two high flanges 125 and 126 forming a curved path allowing the check to leave the printing station almost completely, then to go back.

Very close to these flanges 125 and t26 is provided the notched roller 120 of a stepping motor 121 which ensures the drive of the belt 10, and therefore the precise drive of the check on its internal path in the device.

As already described in the aforementioned prior patent applications, in the internal path of the check, the belt forms with each roller such as 113, 114 and 115 an angle of about 1650, so as to ensure a pressure on the check giving that -this a synchronous drive with that of the belt, without risk of slipping. However, it has been observed that the first roller 112 can in certain applications curve the belt from an angle greater than 1650, and closer to the flat angle, typical values of 170 to 1750 being usable.

It therefore appears that the check will follow with great precision the movement of the belt 10, therefore that of the stepping motor 121. It is also necessary for the device to acquire a position reference on the check. This is done relative to the right edge and the bottom edge of the check (see front). A first detector 110 of the photoelectric barrier type perceives the introduction of the check into the entry station 100, and consequently starts the stepping motor 121. As soon as its front edge reaches the roller 112, the check is driven by the belt 10, and will now follow it. The position of the barrier is such that starting the stepping motor and accepting the check are linked to correct introduction.

The stepping motor can then, as soon as necessary, drive the check to bring it up to the level of the second photoelectric barrier 119, which gives a reference of the position of the check in the internal path at a given time. Thereafter, it will be possible at any time to determine the position of the check with respect to any of the stations which must work on it in the internal path, since the positions of these stations are known along the internal path, and that the number of steps that the motor 121 can take is determined at all times.

It must also be ensured that the lower edge of the check is in contact with the carrier plate 1.

As shown in Figure 4C, the belt 10 which passes here in a villa recess of the roller 111, is located very close to this carrier plate 1, that is to say very close to the lower edge of the check. When introduced into the device by the entry station 100, the check could therefore tend to go up, which would compromise the proper functioning of the device. This difficulty is solved here in a particularly simple manner: as illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4A, a support 140 carries a brush 141 which rubs on the back of the check, near the upper edge of the latter. This results in a friction effect on the upper edge of the check, when it enters the device. This friction prevents the front edge of the check from rising, and therefore keeps it in contact with the carrier plate 1 until that it is fully supported by the belt 10. Thereafter, it will remain, due to its friction on the belt 10, in contact with the carrier plate 1.

It will immediately be noted that, conversely, when the check is going to come out after having been fully processed, the friction effect due to the brush 141 will tend to go up its free edge, which facilitates its gripping by the user.

Figure 3 also shows, near the brush 140 and 141, a curved guide member 142 intended to facilitate the return of the check between the rollers 111 and 112, even if it was slightly curved at its corners. Analogous members can of course be installed in other places of the device.

With regard to the introduction of the check, reference should immediately be made to FIG. 4A, which illustrates in detailed form an embodiment of the entry station 100. A flange 101 has a vertical face 102. It is integral with a horizontal extension 103, which defines an oblique face 104 opposite the face 102, forming with the face 102 a large V which gradually closes until a slot 105 is passed through which the check passes. This slot is defined by the flange 101 and by a flange 106 opposite. Further downstream, extensions 108 and 109 define a V in the opposite direction (this time considered in horizontal cross section), after which we find the input rollers 111 and 112 already mentioned.

It now appears that, as soon as the check has gone to the detector 119, the stepping motor 120 is able to bring it to any desired position relative to any of the stations which are located on the internal path.

This is only true if the belt 10 is tight.

Tension is achieved simply, at the roller 133, by the fact that the latter is subjected to an elastic return. FIG. 2 shows an elastic return made in the form of a spring leaf 136 bearing on two supports 135 of the carrier plate 1.

According to an important characteristic of the invention, the printing station 60 (FIG. 2) comprises, on one side of the internal path, a needle printing head having a body 61 and a needle cylinder 62, and this head printing is mounted on a plate 201 and 202 which is articulated on a support 210 fixed on the carrier plate 1 of the device. This carrier plate 203 also supports a transfer ink ribbon moved into a cassette 64 by a motor itself supported by the plate 203. Actuating means 200 make it possible to apply a vertical displacement to the print head according to an arc of a circle (noted TTI in Figures 5A and 5B).

On the other side of the internal path, the printing station includes the anvil 180, the useful part of which 181 is suitable for operating in any position of the printing head on the circular arc TTI.

For this, the anvil 180 and 181 can be made integral with the carrier plate 1. Its useful part 181 then has a horizontal dimension at least equal to the arrow F of the circular arc TTI (Figures SA and 5B).

Advantageously, the anvil 180, 181 receives in a recess 185 (FIG. 4B) the toothed belt 10, flush with the rest of its useful part 181. In a check, no printing is made in the lower part. There may therefore remain a gap between the belt 10 and the useful part 181.

For other applications, the anvil 180 and 181 receives the toothed belt 10 in continuity with its useful part 181, which allows printing with the printing plate or the anvil itself or the belt. resting on the recess 185 of the anvil.

As a variant, as will be seen below, the anvil can also receive an ink transfer ribbon in cassette 64bis moved by a motor.

For clarity, we will now describe the electronic part of the device, in its interactions with the various workstations that comprise the internal path.

In FIG. 2, this electronic part comprises a central control unit 2, interconnected with transaction members which can be of any known type, and operate either in local mode ("off-line"), or in connected mode (" on-line ").

These transaction organs will simply indicate to the control unit different parameters, including at least the amount of the transaction, which is presumed to be established between a customer and a merchant, who has the use of a device according to the invention .

The customer then gives the merchant a blank check form, and the latter enters it into the entry station 100 of his device.

As soon as it is detected by the sensor 110, the check formula passes into the internal path, the central unit 2 suitably actuating a unit 4 for controlling the scrolling stepping motor 121.

The check will then pass in front of a station 50 which magnetizes the characters CMC7 or E13B which the check comprises, as defined in block 5 of FIG. 2.

The check passes to the right of the sensor 119, after which the central unit 2 is able to know the position of the check with respect to each of the stations of the internal path, as already described. The scrolling engine is then inverted and the check returns again to station 50 which reads the characters CMC7 or E13B. After this operation, the central unit 2 knows the bank issuing the check. The check is then at a printing station 60.

By a vertical displacement of the print head, to which we will return later, the central control unit operates a print control member 6, and the motorization of the print ribbon 9, which in turn controls the needle print head 60, in order to successively print on the check - the amount in figures in the BPF box, - the amount in figures again after the formula "pay against this check", - the name of the beneficiary of the check after the preposition "to", - the date and place of the transaction, the place being known since defined by the merchant, and the date being updated in a conventional manner.

If the endorsement of the check is a variable endorsement, the motorization of the printing ribbon 3 is stopped and the motorization of the backing printing ribbon 9bis is started and the elements specific to the endorsement are struck (characters alphanumeric) is performed by the print head 60, the printing being carried out through the check.

It should be emphasized that the operations of magnetizing and reading the characters CMC7, or
E13B, line by line printing operations on the check, and other subsequent operations require constant round trips of the check along the internal path, which is made possible here by the fact that the central processing unit 2 knows the position of the check at any time in relation to each of the items.

After having been printed in clear, the check goes back to a level of an item 70 for the printing of its amount in characters CMC7 or E13B, in continuity with the track CMC7 or E13B (see FIG. 1).

To this end, a wheel 71 with characters CMC7 or E13B, fitted with a position reference sensor shown diagrammatically at 72 (FIG. 3) can be rotated to sequentially bring the desired characters behind a ribbon 73 from a reel 74, who is in contact with the front of the check. On the other side, a hammer 79 is under the control of an electromagnet 77. The position of the wheel 71 is defined by a stepping motor 75. The stepping motor 75 and the electromagnet 77 are under the control of block 7 of figure 2.

As will be seen below, the motor 75 also serves as a motor member for the vertical displacement of the print head, this being made possible by the great simplicity of this displacement.

If deducted, the new characters CMC7 or E13B which have just been printed can be re-read by the station 50 and its read head 51.

Finally, the central control unit 2 can also actuate a block 8 which, in turn, excites an electromagnet 87, so that an ink pad 89 applies to the back of the ch! That the backing formula fixes for the merchant holder of the device.

All this having been completed, the check can then be returned to entry station 100, to be signed on the front by the customer, and, immediately or later, on the back by the merchant, for backing purposes.

Any anomaly in the filling of the check can be signaled for example by a buzzer, and by the fact that the check will not be entirely released from the internal route.

Reference is now made to FIG. 5.

There are the body 61 of the print head and the drive motor of this ribbon 230 as well as the reel 64 of the printing ribbon. These two members are mounted on a plate 201, provided with a support rib 202. These two parts are curved in 203 to go to articulate in 204 on an axis 211 secured to a stem 210 with rib 212 mounted on the plate carrier 1.

At the level of their curvature, the parts 201 and 202 are integral with a vertical post 206 with rib 207, the end of which passes through the carrier plate 1 by a recess therein, to receive fixing at points 208 and 209 two strands of a rope which is wound on the right on a idler roller 220 mounted on a shaft 221 secured to the carrier plate.

At its other end, the rope is wound, preferably in one or more turns, on the shaft which connects the stepping motor 75 to the printing wheel CMC7 or E13B above a shoulder 226 of this tree.

FIG. 5A specifies the operation of this assembly with a diagram, in which the rope 225, horizontal in FIG. 5, is now shown vertical for better understanding.

Those skilled in the art will note in passing that the rope 225 is provided with a spring 229, to compensate for its variations in length due to the arc movement of the upright 206.

It is clear that, by the rotation of the motor 75, the axial displacement of the rope will cause the print head 61 to rotate around its axis 204.

This head then follows a path TTI, between an intermediate position PTI, where the head prints parallel to the lines materialized on the check, and extreme positions PTIh and PTIl, where the head prints in a slightly inclined manner.

The Applicant has observed that a slight inclination of the printing is entirely tolerable, and moreover very little perceptible to the naked eye.

Of course, the arrow F of the circular arc TTI is less than or equal to the useful surface 181 of the anvil 180, as already mentioned.

FIG. 5 shows the high and low positions, 64H and 64L that the printing assembly takes, also limited to its extreme left part, where we only see the reel 64.

A variant of the invention is illustrated in FIG. 6.

On the other hand, the plate 201 is here supported by a structure forming a deformable parallelogram, articu their frame.

Different realizations are possible.

In that illustrated in FIG. 6, the plate 201 is integral with a vertical upright 250 having two points of articulation 251 and 265.

The articulation point 251 receives an arm 252 which is articulated at 253 on the bracket 260 and 262, itself secured to the support plate 1.

The articulation point 265 of the part 250 receives a curved arm in two parts 264 and 265, which comes to articulate at 261 at the top of the bracket 260.

A knife-like structure is defined by a vertical part 268, provided with a rib 266, and a wedge 267, these parts engaging as illustrated on the curved upright 263, 264.

And it is then the bottom of this part 268 which receives at 270 and 271 the two arms of the rope, which are wound on the idler roller 220, the rest being similar to FIG. 5.

Those skilled in the art will understand that the vertical movement of the print head 61 is obtained as previously in an arc. The difference with the assembly of Figure 5 is that the print head now remains parallel to itself during its arc movement. The letters will therefore be slightly displaced if we compare one line with another, but they will be strictly vertical in each line. This displacement can be very easily compensated thanks to the central unit with microprocessor and the exact knowledge of the check thanks to the drive by stepping motor.

FIG. 6A illustrates the structure with a deformable parallelogram in another schematic version.

The plate 201 constitutes one of the arms of a deformable parallelogram comprising three other arms 270, 271 and 272, the articulation between the latter being integral with the carrier plate 1.

The articulation between 201 and 270 is integral with a horizontal arm 280 which is supported at 281 on the axis integral with the carrier plate 1. The arm 280 is still integral with a vertical upright 282 which is fixed as above on the two arms of the rope 225.

The diagram given on the left of FIG. 6A shows that the print head moves between the positions
PTIl and PTIh by remaining parallel to itself.

One of the advantages of the device described above is that it allows a controlled movement of the check at a linear speed of the order of 500 mm per second, from which it results the possibility of envisaging numerous round trips. of the check inside the internal route, as follows from the description above, without the establishment of the check taking a prohibitive time.

FIG. 2A summarizes all of the steps 20 to 29 which will constitute the establishment of the check, thus materializing the operations which the central unit 2 will successively order in FIG. 2.

From the possibility of a round trip path in the internal path, the Applicant has discovered that, a priori surprisingly, it is possible to use a read head not only for reading characters, CMC7 or E13B, but also for the necessary magnetization of these. Up to now, we have always proceeded by using two separate heads, the manufacturers selling a separate magnetization head and a read head.

Alternatively, the magnetization head is sometimes replaced by a permanent magnet.

The Applicant has discovered that a read head such as that sold by the United Kingdom Company
Magnetic Components Limited under the reference 17851, could perfectly support under 24 Volts at a magnetization current of the order of 10 to 15 milli-Amperes, for a time sufficient to carry out the pre-magnetization of the characters CMC7 or E13B of a check.

It then suffices to provide an electronic switch, for example of the CMOS type, making it possible to connect the head 51 (FIG. 3) either to a magnetization circuit, or to the reading members conventionally associated with such a head.

The device described above is intended to be installed in merchants to allow them to automatically write checks for their customers, aihsi that the complete preparation of checks not only for the formalities of backing specific to the merchant, but also for those of post-marking that interest the bank.

In this regard, it should be noted that the inscriptions in clear on the check can be made either in the form of a normal typeface or in the form of a double width and / or double height font.

However, the device according to the invention can also be used by the bankers themselves, for example for the withdrawal checks which they give to their customers and which they must cash as well as make their order payable.

Finally, subject to adjustments relating to the formalities of backing, as well as to the name of the beneficiary of the check, the machine can be used more widely, both in banks and in shops or groups of traders operating with different social names.

It is therefore desirable to be able to print a variable backing on the back of the check. This is what the variant of FIGS. 7 and 8 allows.

This variant brings to light another very interesting aspect of the invention, namely front / back printing, as desired, with the same print head, and two ink transfer ribbons, placed on either side. of the document to be printed.

In FIG. 7, the path of the check is recalled by the location of passage of the belt 10.

In addition to the print head 60,61 and its ribbon dispenser 64 with motor 230, front side, the assembly being mobile, as described above, around the axis 211, the printing station 60 also includes , on the back side, another tape dispenser 64bis, with independent 230bis motor; the other ribbon passes over the printing anvil 180, 181.

The principle of printing is as follows - first striking at least one vertical point, front and back, in a non-significant location of the check or on another medium inserted for this purpose at the printing station; the two ribbons are thus "laundered", - to then print on the front (or on the back), only the ribbon of the dispenser 64 (64bis respectively) is moved, at the same time as the check. In the case of back printing, the controls of the head are done naturally as if one wrote backwards on the front (mirror symmetry).

The ribbon dispenser 64bis can be fixed, with a wide ribbon covering for example two successive lines of writing, which is sufficient for a backing. For other applications, the tape dispenser 64bis and its motor 230bis can be fixed on the plate which supports the dispenser 64 and its motor 230, and thereby made integral with these. Printing can then be done on the front and / or back over the entire surface of the title.

An example of detailed control of the printing station 60 is illustrated in FIG. 8, with the convention that "ribbon 1" denotes the front ribbon and "ribbon 2" denotes the back ribbon.

Step 300 is the detection (member 119) of the fact that the front edge of the check has arrived under the print head.

Step 301 consists in actuating all the needles of the print head 61.

To completely whiten the two ribbons, this is repeated five times by advancing the check, each time, the diameter of the printing needles (stages 302 and 303, looping over 301).

Test 304 then determines whether you want to print on the front or back.

If it is the front side, the ribbon 1 is advanced by the diameter of a needle (step 305), then a column is struck, according to the needs of a character to be printed (step 306) and this until the end of printing (step 307, looping through 305).

If it is the reverse side, steps 310 to 312 do the same, except that step 310 advances the ribbon 2, and that, by software, the text is written upside down.

In practice, step 304 also brings the check to the first printing position, and it is then moved as required for printing.

If, after the end (320) of the printing on one side of the check, it is necessary to print immediately on the other side, we return of course to step 301.

Those skilled in the art will understand that this applies not only to checks, but to many printing devices of all kinds, in particular those described in the aforementioned prior patents and patent applications.

Claims. 1. A two-sided printing device, of the type comprising: a needle printing head (61, 62); - means (114, 115, 10) suitable for moving paper by  report to the needle print head; - a printing anvil (180), placed on the other side of the  paper;; - a first ink transfer ribbon (64) passing between the  head and paper, and - writing control means, and paper advance,  and ink ribbon (2, 6, 9, 200), characterized in that it comprises a second (64bis) ink transfer ribbon passing between the paper and the anvil, also placed under the control of the control means (9a) in that the control means (2, 6, 9, 9a, 200) carry out, before an actual printing, the repeated striking of a vertical of dots without displacement of the two ink ribbons in order to whiten them, and in that, for the actual printing, the control means move the paper and the first (64) or the second (64bis) ink ribbon, depending on whether it is to print on the front or on the back. 2. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the striking of the vertical point is carried out on another support. 3. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that the striking of the vertical of dots is carried out in an insignificant location of the paper. 4. Device according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that it is incorporated in a ticket processing device, comprising means for driving the ticket, from an entry (100), along a path internal (110-120) of the device, these drive means comprising a belt (10) which rests on rollers (111-120, 131-139) mounted on a carrier plate (1) to follow a closed circuit, a part defines said internal path, which passes through the printing device (60). 5. Method for actuating a needle printer device in duplex mode, characterized by the following operations - providing a second ink transfer ribbon on the back side of the printing sheet; - strike a vertical of dots, repeatedly, without moving the two ink ribbons, until they are completely whitened, and - then proceed to printing on the front or back, by displacing the paper and the first or second ink ribbon, respectively . 6. Method according to claim 5, characterized in that, when printing on the back, the needle printer is controlled to print the text in mirror symmetry.
