Abstract

The invention relates to devices allowing the folding of an empty cardboard box, and comprising wooden battens defining a rigid frame, allowing a considerable increase in its strength. It is essentially constituted by two sides 21 and 21' on which the foldings 5 and 5' allow the box to be flattened. The foldings 4 and 4' allow the user to form a parallelepiped without risk of breakage. The notches 9, 9', 10 and 10' allow the user to close the box completely by an appropriate means such as hooping or stapling on the battens 14 and 15. The devices according to the invention are particularly intended for packaging heavy or fragile products travelling by any mode of transport.

Description

 The present invention relates to a cardboard box, v te, with reinforcing frames; this box being intended to withstand heavy loads, and can be stored empty in a minimum of space.

There are two types of cases on the current market that meet one or the other of these criteria.
- so-called "American" boxes made of uni
only with one or more cardboard plates and
folded flat for "empty" storage.

- boxes made of cardboard plates
assembled on a wooden frame, but not folding.

The wooden frame whose main purpose is to reinforce

 This folding rectangular box, made of cardboard, is made up of two opposite sides with a middle fold placed in parallel to the other two adjacent sides provided with rigid frames. The median folding intended to allow the flattening of the assembly.

 This box can be made from 4 cardboard elements each constituting a side; in this case, the two sides provided with median folds are provided with lateral tabs intended to be fixed externally on the rigid frame.

 The two sides provided with median folds are optionally extended by flaps, and, in this case, these flaps are also provided with median folds.

 The flaps on these sides provided with median folds, are provided, if necessary, with tongues for fixing to the rigid frame, and, in this case, the tongues are notched by a V cut at the ends opposite with the tabs of the element forming the sides, to allow their attachment to the rigid frame; for example: by strip or stapling.

 According to one embodiment, these flaps extend over half of the surface delimited by the sides of the parallelepiped.

 This folding rectangular box made of cardboard can be composed of a single element, and, in this case, the rigid frame is fixed externally on the sides without any median folding.

 By way of illustration of an embodiment of the invention, drawings are attached.

 Figure 1 shows in perspective the box unfolded during closing.

 Figure 2 shows the folded box.

 FIG. 3 represents a side, flat, comprising the devices which are the subject of the present invention: folding and cutting.

The box is made up of two identical cardboard sides (21) and (21 ') and two other identical cardboard sides (22) and (22'), fixed (20) on wooden battens (14) (15) (16) (17) and (18) defining a rigid frame.

 The cardboard sides (21) and (21 ') each consist of an upper flap (1), a body (2) and a lower flap (3). These flaps are obtained by upper (II) and lower (12) horizontal folding.

 On these sides (21) and (21 '), a folding (4) and (4') makes the tabs (6), (6 '), (7), (7'), (8) and (8 '). These tongues, as an extension of the folds (îi) and (12), are notched in (9), (9 '), (10) and (10'). The purpose of these notches is to avoid overlapping of the tabs and thus to allow complete closure of the box, the tabs being folded on the cleats (14) and (15).

Claims (9)

 1) Folding parallelepiped box made of cardboard, of the type reinforced by a rigid frame on 2 sides, characterized in that it comprises on the two non-stiffened opposite sides, a median folding arranged in parallel to the adjacent lateral faces each provided with means of connection with a rigid frame so as to allow the folding of the assembly according to said folding lines.  2) Box according to claim 1 characterized in that the box is made from four elements: two symmetrical elements provided with median folds provided with lateral tabs intended for fixing on the outer face of the frames and two elements adjacent to said first elements fixed on the inner face of said frames.  3) Box according to claim 2 characterized in that the elements provided with median folds are extended on at least one of the sides of a flap also provided with a median fold.  4) Box according to claim 3 characterized in that the flaps are provided with lateral tabs intended to be fixed on the outer face of the upper and / or lower sides, and, in that a V-shaped cutout is provided at opposite ends between the tabs of the flaps and the tabs of the element forming the sides.  5) Box according to claim 4 characterized in that the flaps extend over half of the surface delimited by the sides of the parallelepiped.  6) Box according to claim 1 characterized in that the cardboard box is made of a single element, the frame being fixed externally to the lateral sides adjacent to the sides provided with the median folding.  7) Box according to claim 6 characterized in that each of the sides is provided with flaps.
