Abstract

Description

The present invention relates to a shaving device. More

  particularly the invention relates to a shaving element comprising a blade provided with a cutting edge and adapted to be mounted on a razor handle so as to pivot, in opposition to a thrust spring, about an axis parallel to the cutting edge. Of

  many users have found that this movement of pivots-

  allowed an improved or more comfortable shave. The shaving device could be in the form of a disposable razor comprising the shaving element and a

handle attached to it.

  Shaving elements of this type are well known and, since they are intended to be discarded when the blade or blades no longer produce a satisfactory shave, they are commonly arranged so as to be separable from the blade.

  In the prior art, shaving elements of this type have been provided with two recesses spaced apart from one another on the pivot axis and intended to catch on the teeth of the razor handle. When these handles are detachable from the shaving element, they are of a relatively complex structure since they must include not only a mechanism for engaging the teeth in the recesses of the shaving element and

  According to the present invention, there is provided a disposable shaving device comprising a blade plate, at least one blade having a cutting edge and fixed on the plate, a fixed protective rim with respect to the blade and the plate blade holder and placed parallel to and away from the cutting edge of the blade, and a mounting member forming a means for attaching the blade and the blade plate to a razor handle, said mounting member comprising at least one flexible strip secured to the blade-holder plate and forming an elastic hinge, the axis of the hinge being

  parallel to said cutting edge.

  As shown in the drawings, and with particular reference to Figure 4, the shaving device comprises a blade plate 11, a blade 12 fixed to the plate 11, an upper cap 13 fixed to the plate 11 by rivets which therefore keep the blade on the

  plate, and a rim of protection 14. The rim of protection

  14 is oriented parallel to the cutting edge of the blade and is provided with side walls 15, Figures 1 to 3,

  which are themselves secured to the blade plate 11.

  A second blade may be mounted above the first blade with the interposition of a spacer, the cutting edges of the two blades being offset. For simplicity, the blade 12 and the upper cap 13 have been

  omitted from all views, except Figure 4.

  The means for mounting the shaving device on a razor handle comprises a mounting element 16 in the form of a parallel-faced strip which is integral with the lower side of the carrier plate but which is spaced from the side walls 15. In an area closely adjacent to the blade plate, the mounting member has a recess 16a extending along its length, on the side opposite to the protective flange 14. The depth of the recess 16a is chosen so as to leaving between the base of the recess and the opposite side of the mounting member only a relatively thin flexible strip 16b, FIGS. 4 and 5, or a plurality of such strips

  joining the mounting member 16 to the blade plate 11.

  As shown in Figure 2, the element of

  assembly comprises three openings 16c thus leaving

  four flexible bands 16b, of the type defined above, ensuring the junction of the mounting element with the-plate-blade holder. The distance between the upper and lower sides of the recess determines the maximum bending of the strips from the unsolicited position of the strips as indicated

on the drawings.

  The portion of the mounting member 16 which is engaged in a razor handle may have an L-shaped section as shown or any other suitable form. For example the mounting member could be provided with a re-entrant groove along its length to receive therein the bar which is a conventional means for attaching a razor handle to an element

disposable blade holder.

Claims (3)

  A disposable shaving device comprising a blade plate, at least one blade having a cutting edge and fixed to the plate, a fixed protective edge with respect to the blade and the blade plate and placed in parallel and remote from the cutting edge of the blade, and a mounting member forming a means for attaching the blade and the blade holder to a razor handle, characterized in that said mounting member (16) comprises at least one flexible band (16b) integral with the blade plate (11) and forming an elastic hinge, the axis of the hinge being parallel to said cutting edge.   2. Disposable shaving device according to the present invention   1, characterized in that the mounting member (16) is a substantially rigid member having parallel sides and having a recess (16a) on one side so that the base of the recess and the other side of the mounting element   define between them at least said flexible band tee (16b).   3. Disposable shaving device according to the invention   2, characterized in that the spacing between the opposite sides of said recess (16a) determines the maximum pivotal movement of the shaving device during shaving from the relaxation condition of said   flexible strip (16b) at least provided.
