Abstract

The subject of the invention is a type of double seat for mechanical lifts, known as chair lifts, for use by skiers. It permits access from behind at normal speed, thus rendering unnecessary the preparation of the skiers before the arrival of the chairs, which permits an approach to the chairs on the cable of 5 to 6 m and increases the throughput of the installation. This seat can be fitted onto an existing installation by means of a few conversions to the downhill and uphill stations and reinforcement of the carrier members. According to Figure 5, it comprises two motorcycle-seat-type saddles 1, backs 4 which can be folded down with a plastic casing 5, securely attached to the backs, providing protection against the wind at the back, articulated at 6, and a stationary front casing 9. It is also equipped with footrests 2 which can be adjusted according to the size of the skier.
