Abstract

Improvement to the design of the upper part of containers with tarpaulin tops called "open-top containers". Each of the corner pieces 1 is associated with an angle bracket 5 provided with at least four rings 70 for fixing the tarpaulin 3, at least two of these rings being along each of the two inside faces of the corner piece.

Description

Tarpaulin container
The present invention relates to an improvement to the design of the upper part of tarpaulin containers, sometimes called "open-top" containers.

 The currently known tarpaulin-roofed containers generally have their roof constituted by a tarpaulin secured to the frame of the container by means of rings welded to said frame and cooperating with eyelets fixed to the tarpaulin in a corresponding manner. A metal cable is passed through each ring over the entire perimeter of the container and, having its two ends connected by a locking device, makes it possible to prevent the opening of the sheet by an unauthorized person.

 Customs regulations impose a spacing between eyelets or rings equal to or less than a certain value, 200 millimeters in the case of French customs, and in addition the connection between frame and tarpaulin must be designed so as to prevent the passage of the hand towards the inside the container.

 A particularly delicate place in the tarpaulin-frame assembly is located at the level of the four upper corner pieces. For this, reference is made to the appended FIGS. 1, 2 and 3 respectively representing a top view of one of the four corners of a container of the prior art, a view in the direction F of FIG. 1, and a section along the direction BB of FIG. 1.

As seen in these drawings, each corner piece 1 has
on its external faces of the cells 2 intended to allow the handling of the container. It is therefore not possible to blind these prehistoric alveoli
sion by the return of the sheet 3, so that it has cutouts 4 intended to avoid the corner pieces 1. We are then confronted
there a double problem of sealing and inviolability. For
establish sealing, a corner gusset 5 is generally provided
a metal bead 6 playing the role of baffle. To ensure the invio
lability, two rings 7 are provided on each corner gusset 5: a ring on each side of the corner piece 1, allowing the passage of the metallic closing cable while respecting the maximum center distance of 200 mm
between-rings. For this embodiment, the customs regulations
additionally provide for a minimum distance L equal to 100 mm between the axis of the years
neaux 7 and the inner edge 9 of the corner gusset 5. This minimum dimension L
imposed has the drawback of requiring fairly large angle gussets 5, which considerably reduces the maximum loading surface that can be introduced through the roof of the container.

 The present invention relates to a container of the type described above> but in which the dimensions of the necessary corner gussets are significantly reduced. I1 is characterized in that each of said corner gussets is provided with at least four rings, including at least two rings along each of the two internal faces of the corner piece associated with said corner gusset.

 The invention will be better understood using the following description of an exemplary embodiment, with reference to the accompanying drawings in which - Figure 1 is a schematic top view of one of the four corners of a roof container sheet of the prior art, - Figure 2 is a schematic view in the direction F of Figure 1, - Figure 3 is a section along the direction BB of Figure 1 of a portion of the corner gusset equipping the corner of the container, - Figure 4 is a schematic top view of one of the four corners of a tarpaulin container according to the invention.

 In FIG. 4, the same references have been given to the homologous elements of the embodiment of the prior art shown diagrammatically in FIG. 1 previously described. According to the invention, each corner gusset 5 fitted to the container is equipped with four rings 70, two for each internal side of the corner piece 1, the cable 8 passing through these four rings as shown diagrammatically in the drawing, and the tarpaulin 3 obviously being provided with four eyelets 10 placed in correspondence with the four rings 70.

 With four rings 70 thus arranged at each upper corner of the container, it becomes practically impossible to lift the sheet 3 and introduce the hand into it. As a result, the customs services agree to reduce the minimum dimension L defined above to 70 mm. This reduction in L therefore makes it possible to reduce the dimensions of the corner gussets 5, and therefore to increase the area of the loading opening through the roof of the container.

Claims (1)

 CLAIM  Covered roof container equipped with four corner pieces (1) intended in particular to allow the handling of the container and each associated with a corner gusset (5) placed in the upper part of the container, characterized in that each of said gussets d angle is provided with at least four rings (70) for securing the sheet (3), including at least two rings along each of the two internal faces of the corner piece associated with said corner gusset.
