Abstract

The exchanger consists of a cubic body 1 enclosing plates 1a defining the two circuits, and four demountable tanks 2 to 5 having an opening set into the square profile of the body. Some of these tanks have a filtering wall 9 and others have a motor-driven fan 6. All the tanks have lateral connecting pipes 7, 8, 10, 11 which can be given four different orientations to obtain a suitable arrangement for each tank.

Description

The present invention relates to cross-flow temperature exchangers, of the type used in mechanical ventilation systems for premises so that during periods of heating the stale air extracted from the house gives up at least part of its calories. to the fresh air entering it.

It is known that exchangers of this kind generally comprise two separate circuits oriented perpendicular to each other, each of these being provided with a filtering wall and a motor-fan. The central part is occupied by a series of parallel plates, arranged so that their opposite faces are licked by the air of the two circuits so as to ensure caloric exchange. Obviously each circuit is provided with at least one inlet nozzle and at least one outlet nozzle and these must be connected to the pipes of the mechanical ventilation installation of the room in question.

This connection frequently poses fairly delicate problems.

Indeed, the installer is not free to orient the pipes as he sees fit2 so that he must proceed with the installation of elbows, interposed between the ends of the pipes and the exchanger nozzles. In addition to their cost price, these bent parts have the disadvantage of generating significant pressure losses in the air circulation of the installation.

It is mainly this drawback that the present invention intends to remedy, which essentially consists in producing the central part of the exchanger in the form of a cubic carcass which is closed only on two opposite sides, and in associating to this carcass four removable boxes having at least one open face established with the same square profile as said carcass, each of said boxes being provided with at least one nozzle for its connection to the pipes of the installation considered.

It is understood that this connection nozzle is capable of affecting four distinct orientations by means of a simple angular displacement of the corresponding box relative to the central cubic carcass. The connection operations are thus considerably simplified to the point that one can most often dispense with any intermediate bend.

In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, two of the four removable boxes are equipped with a filtering wall, while each of the other two contains a motor-fan to ensure the circulation of air in the corresponding circuit . It will also be noted that the fixing of the boxes against the envelope is advantageously carried out using quick assembly systems, such as circlips, levers beyond the neutral point, etc.

the appended drawing, given by way of example, will allow a better understanding of the invention, the characteristics which it presents and the advantages which it is likely to provide
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the components of a heat exchanger according to the invention, shown before the assembly of the boxes against the central carcass.

Fig. 2 reproduit fig. 1 après assemblage et orientation des caissons. Fig. 2 reproduced fig. 1 after assembly and orientation of the boxes.

In fig. 1 the reference 1 designates a cubic carcass which is closed only on two opposite walls. Inside this carcass 1 is mounted, in a manner known per se in the industry of cross-flow temperature exchangers, a series of plates 1a oriented parallel to each other and maintained at a very slight reciprocal spacing in order to allow the passage of air from the two exchanger circuits.

With the carcass 1 are associated four removable boxes, referenced 2, 3, 4 and 5. Each of these boxes is in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped which is open only on one side and whose two large faces have a square section identical to that of one of the sides of the carcass 1, so that said boxes are capable of being applied against an open side of said carcass while occupying the entire uncovered section.

Inside each of the two boxes referenced 2 and 3 is mounted a motor-fan 6, the suction port of which is turned towards the open side of the box envisaged, while the outlet port is connected to a nozzle or sleeve referenced 7 for the box 2, 8 for the box 3. On the other hand, each of the other two boxes 4 and 5 contains a filtering wall 9, advantageously oriented obliquely along a diagonal of the parallelepiped; the box 4 is equipped with two parallel nozzles or sleeves 10 while the box 5 has only one, referenced 11.

The removable fixing of the boxes against the carcass 1 is ensured using any quick assembly system known in practice; in the embodiment considered, it was assumed that recourse was made to this effect with removable flanges or circlips bringing together hooks 12 respectively provided in pairs around the periphery of the open side of each box and on each of the two closed faces carcass 1.

The assembly is sealed using seals or fittings (not shown) which are compressed between the carcass and the boxes once the latter are assembled.

Fig. 2 shows the assembly obtained after assembly of the five constituent parts using the flanges 12 ′ associated with the hooks 12. Two separate circuits are thus oriented in the form of a cross; the motor-fan incorporated in the box 2 sucks, through the two nozzles 10 of the box 4; the stale air in the room (black arrows) which is purified by the filtering wall 9 and which before being discharged outside by the nozzle 7 of the box 2, gives up its calories to the fresh air (white arrows) during from its passage through the central carcass 1. This fresh air is sucked in by the motor-fan of the box 2, the suction being carried out through the nozzle 11 and the discharge by the nozzle 8.

It is understood that the nozzles 7, 8, 10 and 11 are capable of being arranged in four different orientations by angular displacement of the boxes relative to the carcass 1 prior to the installation of the assembly flanges 12; this faculty of orientation simplifies the connection of the exchanger to the mechanical ventilation installation, most often avoiding having to provide bent portions at the ends of the pipes to be connected to said exchanger. This simplification obviously has a favorable effect on the level of the cost price and the power of the installation (elimination of pressure losses due to the bent parts).

It goes without saying that the boxes are likely to include any number of connection nozzles, depending on the main types of installation.

It should also be understood that the foregoing description has been given only by way of example and that it in no way limits the field of the invention from which one would not depart by replacing the execution details described by any other equivalentO
