Abstract

At one end of the boat hook is a hook (2) for pulling. A small elongation of this (3) ends in a rounded part (4) acting as a thrustor. Near the hook is a flexible clip (6) with two claws (7,8), which form a semi circle about the same diameter (d) as the end of a mooring rope. The rope can be held between the resilient claws. The clip is fixed by straps (13,14) passing around a base (12) shaped to match the axially extending end of the boat hook.

Description

Technical area.

 The present invention relates to improvements to gaffs comprising, at one end, a hook, used for pulling, and a small extension, terminated by a rounded, used for pushing.

Problem.

 All boaters know the problem posed, on the one hand, the taking of a buoy or a ring using the hook and, on the other hand, simultaneously the passage of the rope or mooring in the ring fixed or articulated to take it up and fix it at post on the buoy or on the quay or to bring this mooring on board twice to fix it on the cleat or the bollard.

The previous operation is facilitated by the hook which is sufficiently known that it is useless to describe it and to explain the way in which it is used.

However, the gaff is perfectly designed, with its hook, to catch the ring but it is very acrobatic to introduce into this ring a mooring using the hook or the small extension of the current gaffs.

 It is this problem which the present invention proposes to solve.

Statement of the invention.

 The invention is mainly characterized by the combination, with the hook of the hook, in the vicinity thereof, of an elastic clamp composed of two elastic branches or claws which together make more than a semicircle of little diameter different from that of a tip, such as a mooring, which can be maintained between said claws but which sty introduces and slen extracted by exerting a sufficient force which elastically spreads said claws or branches.

 The clamp can be incorporated at the end of the gaff or be added to adapt to existing gaffs. When it is added, it is put, obviously, in the vicinity of the hook, on the small extension to which it is fixed by at least one collar.

 According to a preferred embodiment, the clamp is fixed on a base shaped at the end of the hook and which extends forward and backward to serve as a seat for collars. To facilitate attachment, the base has passages for collars.

 The clamp can consist of two equal branches or two uneven branches. These branches delimit a semi-cylindrical space whose axis can be perpendicular to that of the hook. However, this axis can be placed at any angle, in particular, parallel to that of the hook.

Solution to the problem, advantages and industrial result.

 Approaching the mooring place, the crew member prepares his mooring, hooks it to a cleat on the boat and he wedges the other end between the branches of the clamp located at the end of the boat hook. I1 then presents the gaff in a classic way, which can be used as well to repel the quay or a boat with its small extension, terminated by a rounding, or even hang a ring with the hook and pull. When the crew member is at a suitable distance, he introduces the end of the hook into a lap so that the mooring can penetrate it. He can then pull the end of the hook by tearing it from the branches of the clamp and - either fix it directly to the ring of the buoy or the quay, - or bring it back on board in duplicate to moor it on a cleat or a bollard.

 Obviously, the hook can be easily removed as usual, by releasing its hook.

 Mooring is thus greatly facilitated and the crew member no longer risks delicate and dangerous maneuvering by passing the mooring in a ring often distant from the boat.

 The invention will be better understood with the aid of the following description which gives some nonlimiting examples of practical embodiment thereof and which are illustrated in the attached drawings.

Description of some embodiments.

 The hook consists of a pole (1) ending in a hook (2) extended, in the axis of the pole (1), by a small extension (3) ending in a rounded (4). the hook (2) is also generally terminated by a round (5). This is well known and the hook (2) is used to pull on the pole (1) while the small extension (3) with its rounded (4) is used to push on the pole.

 The invention consists in combining with the hook (2) and the small extension (3), a clamp (6) composed of two elastic branches (7j, (: making together more than one demS circle of diameter "d" which is little different from the diameter "D" (figure 6) of an end (9X, such as a mooring line. The end (9) is held between the branches or claws (7)> (8) but it is inserted therein and s 'in extract by exerting sufficient force to elastically spread said claws (7), (). The ends of the branches or claws (7), () are curved in (10), (li) to facilitate the introduction of the end (9) in the clamp (6).

The clamp (6) can be part of the small extension (3) and constitute a single whole mold with it. However, to adapt to existing hooks, there is provided on the clamp (6), a base (12) which serves as an embedding for the branches (7) (8) and for fixing the collar (13), (14) surrounding the small extension (3) and tightening it using the bolts (15), (16). To facilitate the placement of the collars (13) and (i4), provision is made, as clearly indicated in the
Figure 1, extensions of the base (12) on either side of the branches or claws (7), (8), extensions around which pass collars (13) and (14).

 As seen in Figures (2) and (3), the base (12) has a semi-cylindrical part coaxial with small extensions (3) to adapt perfectly.

 In the version shown in Figures (3) and (4), there are provided passages (17), (l & for the collars (13), (14).

 In the version shown in Figure 5, there is shown a clamp (21) with branches or elastic claws (19), (20) of unequal lengths. The orientation of the clamp (21) can be best done to facilitate the introduction and removal of the tip (9).

 Moreover, in the example shown, clamps (6) or (21) are provided with a cylindrical passage with axes perpendicular to that of the pole (1). One can provide an orientation of the branches (7), (8) different to obtain the best practical efficiency according to the wholes and habits of the user.

Improvement in gaffs comprising, at one end, a hook (2), used for pulling, and a small extension (3), terminated by a rounding (4), serving as a pusher, characterized by the combination, with the hook (2) of the hook, in the vicinity thereof, to an elastic clamp (6) composed of two elastic branches or claws (7), (o) forming together more than a semicircle of diameter little different from that of a tip (9), such as a mooring line, which can be maintained between said claws (7), () but which is inserted therein and is extracted therefrom by exerting a sufficient force which spreads elastically said claws or branches (7), (3).  2. Gaff, as defined in claim 1, it has the fact that the clamp (6) is incorporated at the end of the gaff.  3. Gaff, as defined in claim 1> characterized by the fact that the clamp (6) is attached to the vicinity of the hook (2), on the small extension (3) to which it is fixed by at least a collar (13)> (14).  4.
