Abstract

The buffer for roadside kerbs is made up of two triangular sections which carry at least three notches (4,5) on their upper faces (3) for the introduction of handling tools (9,10). One notch (4) is situated near the centre of gravity of each section whilst the other two notches (5) are situated in a straight line (II,II) parallel to the contact face of each section. The line (II,II) divides each section into two parts of equal weight. The sections are manhandled into a position in which the two contact faces abut to form a rectangular buffer.

Description

 The present invention relates to a tampon, in particular, for a manhole cover. In the service position, this buffer is mounted in a fixed frame, sealed horizontally on the roadway or the sidewalk.

There are many embodiments of buffers for manhole cover, generally made of massive cast iron or molten steel, of rectangular shape and constituting -sets of the monobloc type or else produced by assembling two triangles. Such pads have the disadvantage of being heavy and difficult to handle
The object of the invention is to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks by making it possible to produce a pad, in particular for a manhole cover, capable of withstanding the static and dynamic forces imposed by both the reception standards applicable to this type of product and also by the particularly severe service conditions. In addition, the buffer handling principle allows easy handling using suitable lifting devices of a type known per se.

 According to the invention, the buffer for manhole cover consists of two parts of substantially triangular shape, called half-buffers, is characterized in that these half-buffers have; due to the particular arrangement of the reinforcement ribs on their underside, great resistance to the vertical forces applied to their upper face and several handling notches, adapted to a lifting device, arranged so as to keep in several cases a balance - satisfactory free of each half-tampon.

In the embodiment which is described here by way of example, the pad 1 comprises two half-pads 2 and 3 of substantially triangular shape, each of them resting by means of three bearing faces 6 in a fixed frame sealed horizontally on the roadway.

On the upper face of each half-buffer are arranged several handling notches.

A notch 4 is placed substantially at the center of gravity G of the half-pad and two notches 5 are placed on either side of the notch 4 and aligned on a straight line AA parallel to the contact face 11 between the two half pads and dividing the half-pad into two parts of substantially equal masses.

This line is designated BB in the case of buffer 3.

Such an arrangement allows the handling of each half-pad using two identical lifting tools 9 and 10 used in different ways according to the possibilities offered by the environment of the pad.

 According to Figure 3, the half-buffer 2 is located near a wall, which requires placing the lifting tools 9 and 10 in the notch 4. In this case, Figure 4 illustrates the mode of use of the lifting tool.

 According to FIG. 3, the half-buffer 3 is released from the wall, which makes it possible to place the lifting tools 9 and 10 in the two associated notches 5.

 In this case, Figure 5 illustrates the mode of use of the lifting tool.

 Each half-pad has on its lower face at least three reinforcing ribs 8 connecting the massiveness 7 situated in the vicinity of the center of gravity of the triangle having the support faces 6 at the top with each support face 6.

 Each rib has a decreasing section between the massiveness 7 and the bearing face 6 as shown in FIG. 6.

 In the case of a part made of cast steel, the geometry of the half-pad thus obtained allows very satisfactory supply from the massiveness 7 towards the vertices of the triangle via the reinforcing ribs 8.

 Thanks to the invention, the reduced weight buffer has a high resistance to vertical forces and can be handled without difficulty using lifting devices, regardless of the environment of said buffer.

 Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiment which has just been described by way of example, and it is possible to make various variants without departing from the scope of the invention.

 For example, the two half-buffers can be made integral and in this case are handled together by means of the two lifting devices.

 Similarly, two or more pads can be juxtaposed to form an assembly as shown in Figure 3 and the half pads can be obtained by cutting along a substantially diagonal line from a molded assembly of rectangular shape.

Claims 1) Pavement manhole cover, consisting of 2 parts  substantially triangular, called half-buffers, connected  or independent, having on their upper faces  at least three notches intended for the introduction of  buffer handling means characterized in that an enco  che is located near the center of gravity of each  half buffer and that two other notches necessarily  associated in the handling are located on a right  parallel to the contact face between the 2 half-pads and  which divides each half-pad into two substantially masses  equal. 2) buffer for manhole cover according to claim 1  characterized in that the main ribbing of each  substantially triangular half-pad consists of three  ribs joining a massive part located in the center of  gravity of the half-buffer at its three peaks. 3) manhole cover according to claims 1 and 2,  characterized in that each main rib has  a decreasing section of the center of gravity towards each  Mountain peak. 4) manhole cover according to claims 1 and 3  characterized in that these triangular elements are made  by cutting along a substantially diagonal line of an assembly  molded rectangular. 5) manhole cover according to claims 1 to 3,  characterized in that it can constitute assemblies obtained  by juxtaposition of identical buffers.
