Abstract

In a principal mould the upper of the boot or shoe is formed, while in the second mould the sole is formed onto the upper. To change from one position to the other, the entire mould block is rotated through approx. 180 deg. about a horizontal axis. The initial moulding takes palce with the top of the mould open and bubbles of air can escape. For this purpose, the mould cover is raised. At this stage the material is injected into the bottom part of the mould so that it ascends. In the second stage the sole is cast onto to already moulded part of the shoe. The elimination of air bubbles reduces the wastage due to rejects. Used for moulding polyurethane or similar foam shoes, boots, apres-ski shoes, leggings etc.
