Abstract

The device uses a pivotable bracket (3) with a centrally fitted expansible spindle (4) to pick-up and pivot a roll of paper. The bracket is mounted on a portal frame (1) on runners (2). The bar of the frame is fitted with two sleeves (6) for engagement by the prongs of a fork-lift truck, and the legs of the frame and the bracket are connected by the pivot axes. The pivoting of the frame is controlled by a rotary brake in the form of an end of a shock absorber. A pick-up is effected by expanding the spindle once inserted in the mandrel (5) of a roll, and the geometry of the assembly is such that the bracket pivots about the horizontal when loaded.
