Abstract

The rotary shavings filter has a casing (1), in which is a driving motor (4) for a shaft (6), driven by a V-belt (5). There is a support (7), in the form of a fork for an eccentric weight (8) connected firmly to the shaft. The weight is supported to turn on a horizontal pin (9) and the shaft is vertical and runs in bearings at either end. The casing is fixed to a filter and when the motor runs up to speed, the weight swings outwards. This causes imbalance which imparts a shaking force to the filter.

Description

The present invention relates to improvements made to devices supported by cables or rods and the operation of which requires that they be driven in an essentially circular oscillatory movement, in a horizontal plane. In such devices, the oscillatory movement is often obtained by means of an essentially horizontal arm, which is connected to a vertical rotary shaft swiveling in bearings provided in the device. The free end of the arm is polr.rvlle with an eccentric weight (unbalance) which achieves the desired oscillatory movement when the shaft is hampered in rotation. During its operation the device constitutes, in principle, an oscillating pendulum, which for each race or each revolution does not require a weak force to maintain the oscillations. However, the starting torque forces are high, which implies that the motors and transmissions are oversized for continuous operation which requires only a fraction of the energy required for the initial start-up phase.

The invention proposes to provide an improved device, the implementation of which makes it possible to considerably reduce the starting torque, which means that the dimensions of the entrainment motor and of the transmission of the device can be optimized by economically.

According to the present invention, an eccentric weight is supported, so as to be able to rotate, in a support using a horizontal spindle, the support being rigidly connected to a rotary shaft which pivots in the bearings of the device.

Other characteristics and advantages of this invention will emerge from the following detailed description with reference to the single figure of the appended drawing which illustrates an exemplary embodiment seen in vertical cross section.

Referring to the figure, we see at 1 a casing rigidly connected to the filter, which in this figure has simply been represented by a filtering plate 2 and a distribution plate 3. In the casing 1 is arranged a drive motor 4, which rotates a shaft 6, via pinions or a V-belt transmission 5. A support 7, in the shape of a stirrup, for an eccentric weight 8 is rigidly connected to the shaft 6 and the eccentric weight 8 is supported, so as to be able to rotate, in the support by means of a spindle 9. The shaft 6 pivots in bearings at its two ends 8.

The device according to the invention operates as follows. At rest the eccentric weight 8 occupies the position shown in the figure. When the engine 4 starts, the shaft 6 begins to rotate. Since the moment of inertia of the eccentric weight 8, relative to the shaft 6 is initially comparatively small, the motor which is relatively small, is capable of rapidly increasing the speed of rotation of the shaft 6, with a moderate energy consumption. When the speed of rotation of the motor increases, the eccentric weight 8 turns outwards and upwards around the spindle 9. The imbalance (imbalance) of the eccentric weight 8 with respect to the shaft 6 increases, so that the force generated by this imbalance increases, this force being transmitted, via the bearings of the shaft 6 to the casing 1 and to the screen, which is rigidly connected to the casing. Consequently, the movement of the shaking which is deflected is communicated to the filter and this movement can be controlled by adjusting the speed of rotation of the motor 4.

The device according to the invention described above has several advantages, in particular when the filter shaking movement begins. Since the moment of inertia of the eccentric weight system is initially low, the nominal power of the drive motor can be kept low. The variable imbalance (imbalance) of the eccentric weight relative to its rotation shaft also has the advantage that it is not necessary to design and make the filter and its support means so that they can absorb oscillations with abnormal amplitudes, caused by an intrinsic resonance at the rotational speeds which correspond to the start and stop phases of the filtration operations.

1l remains understood that this invention is not limited to the embodiment described and shown, but that it encompasses all variants.
