Abstract

The curtain rail support has a vertical part (1) with a flange (2) at the bottom and an upper horizontal part (3) at the top. This has a flange at its end and the curtain rail (R) fits between the flanges and the horizontal and vertical parts. The vertical part is joined to a lower horizontal part (5) under the upper horizontal part and this forms a passage in which a wedge (6) fits. The back face (6a) of this is bevelled and it is moved by a screw (7) that presses on the bevel.

Description

 The invention relates to a curtain rod support 9, in particular a support to be fixed to the ceiling.

For this latter use, it had long been observed that there were contradictory conditions when using conventional supports in the form of
U overturned integral with one or two tabs pierced with a hole for the fixing screw.

 Indeed, one could not introduce the rod in the U after fixing the support and, moreover, the establishment of the whole required the employment of two people.

 This finding had led the manufacturers to offer supports in two parts each comprising a half-suspension ring, one of these parts first being fixed to the ceiling, the second being screwed onto the first.

 Although, seeming more rational, this solution was far from satisfactory, because the installation of the rod still required that two people participate, perched on ladders or stepladders.

In addition, it results in poor immobilization of the rod in its support almost as random as the conventional solution by needle screw.

 The invention solves the double problem set out above in a completely satisfactory manner - prior fixing of the support - positioning of the rod - energetic locking of the latter.

 This result is obtained thanks to a piece of special shape whose ring is open on almost all of the two consecutive sides and has a stop moving horizontally in the direction of the rod thanks to its rear bevel cooperating with the end of a screw.

 Other features and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the description and the claims which follow, which are made with reference to the appended drawings in which - FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a support produced according to 11 invention - Figure 2 being a side view.

 As can be seen in these figures, the support, according to the invention, comprises a vertical part 1 ending in a short horizontal heel 2 intended to support one of the returns of the U of the rod, the vertical part 1 being it secured to the means for fixing the support to the supporting wall (ceiling or wall). The support is completed by an upper horizontal part 3 terminated by a vertical heel 4.

 As can be seen on examining FIG. 2, the vertical part 1, the upper part 3 and the two heels, delimit a rectangular section substantially larger than that of the rod R.

 This rectangular section being open over the major part of the vertical face and of the lower face, the rod R can be introduced laterally.

 From the vertical part j is secured a horizontal part 5 distant from the horizontal part 3.

 In the space between 3 and 5 is placed a movable stop 6 whose rear face is bevelled 6a.

 The horizontal part S has a threaded hole 5a serving as a nut for a screw 7, the end of which is placed against the bevel 6a of the stop 6.

 In this way, the rotation of the screw 7 modifies the position of the stop 6 in the passage formed between 3 and 5. The displacement of the latter, obtained by screwing, - causes the end 6b to come into contact with the vertical field of the rod R which it pushes back towards the heel 4.

This end 6b can be a vertical surface, a curved surface, etc.
As shown, it can also be a bevel forming an acute angle.

 In this case, not only does the stop 6 grip the rod R against the heel 4, but its edge is anchored in the vertical wall of said rod and thus produces an effective immobilization of the latter.

 The stop 6 is guided by two lateral cheeks 6c between which the fields of part 3 are placed.

 Furthermore, to prevent this stop from escaping from the support, it includes a light 6d which is traversed by a screw 8.

 The support which has just been described, can be supplemented by conventional means of fixing against a vertical wall for example, at its upper part 3 could be fixed a runner intended to receive the square rod of a traditional square, but it is especially in the case of fixing to the ceiling that it takes all its importance, the upper part 3 then being pierced with a hole 3a for the passage of a screw.

 1. - Curtain rod support comprising a vertical part (1) and a heel (2) intended to support said rod (R), caractdrisd in that it is completed by a horizontal upper part (3), ending with a vertical heel (such that the vertical (1), horizontal (3) parts and the two heels form a rectangular section open on a part of two consecutive sides.  2. - Support according to claim 1, characterized in that the vertical part (i) is integral with a horizontal part (5) providing a passage between it and the part (3), a stop (6) whose rear side ~ re is cut in a bevel, being able to move in this corridor the displacement of this stop being obtained by pushing the end of a screw on this bevel  3. - Support according to claim 2, caractrie4 in that the front face of the stopper is also bevel cut.  4. - Support according to claim 2, characterized in that the stop (6) is provided with cheeks enclosing the fields of the upper part (3).  5. - Support according to claim 2, characterized in that the stop (6) is provided with a light (6d) traversed by a screw (8).  6. - Support according to one of the preceding claims, caractdrisd in that said horizontal upper part (3) is pierced with a hole (3c) to serve as a fixing plate against a ceiling.
