Abstract

The bolted 'T' joint (41) is used in e.g. furniture construction to make a demountable connection between two tubular members. The first member e.g. the leg (1) has two circular openings (11,12), one (11) of a dia. equal to that of the bolt (41), and the other (12) of a dia. equal to that of a cylindrical screwing-head (42). The axial length of the head equals the inside dimension of the leg plus the leg wall thickness, the bolt affixing to a transverse diaphragm plate (3) mounted in the second member or rail (2). The bolt aligns on the longitudinal axis of the leg, and the external face of the head fits flush in the large opening when the joint is assembled. The bolt may be in one piece with the head and may screw into a threaded hole (31) in the diaphragm, or may be fixed to the diaphragm and screw into an axial hole in the head.
