Abstract

Protective clothing is constructed from three layers of matl. fastened together at critical positions such as a collar, waistband or cuff, but otherwise separate. The outer layer (10) is built for durability and appearance, the inner layer (3) for comfort and the intermediate layer (2) for impermeability. For mfr. of overalls, 'salopettes' (ski clothes), working jackets etc.. Claims such composite clothing where (2) comprises 20-30% wt. of a support fabric of e.g. polyamide and 80-70% of a PVC coating, having welded seams; where (1) is a polyamide fabric with a polyurethane or silicone dressing; and (3) is a taffeta fabric made of polyamide: pref. (2) is 27% jersey weave polyamide /73% PVC coating and weighs about 300 g/m2. Lighter and more flexible than conventional waxed waterproof textiles, avoids or minimises the presence of stitched seams.

Description

 The present invention relates to improvements to a waterproof garment. The invention can be applied to all kinds of clothing and in particular to pants, coveralls, overalls, jacket or coat.

 The object of the invention is to provide perfect protection for the user against skin splashes, bad weather and in particular soot and spray and to constitute a garment pleasant to wear, resistant and perfectly effective.

 The clothes existing today do not meet all these requirements.

 Indeed, known clothing can be essentially classified into two types.

The former consist of heat-sealable or weldable materials, for example of the “waxed” type. Such headings are effectively waterproof, but they are heavy, overwhelming, unpleasant to wear especially in contact with the skin. They are also relatively fragile, the slightest snag often turning into a large tear
The second are made of light waterproof textile materials. However, these waterproof fabrics are not 100% effective, and in particular it is not possible to seal the seams of the garment through which the water infiltrates.

To solve the problems posed, the invention proposes to constitute a garment from essentially three superimposed layers, namely
- a first outer layer of resistance and dectect,
- a second waterproof intermediate layer,
- a third inner layer forming a comfort lining.

 According to another preferred characteristic of the invention, said three layers are essentially free and independent of each other, except at one end of the garment, such as the waistband of pants, or jacket jacket or coat, so to ensure the joining of the three layers and their correct positioning without harming the relative freedom of floating and deformation of each layer.

 In this way, it appears that the perfect and total sealing of the garment will be obtained without difficulty by the second waterproof intermediate layer. This layer being protected from impact and external contact by the outer layer of resistance and appearance, it can be produced in a thinner thickness than the materials required to constitute, for example, waxes. The garment will therefore not be unpleasantly heavy to wear. On the other hand, given the presence of the interior comfort lining, there will be no contact with the skin of the intermediate waterproof layer.

 The outer layer of the clothing ... lgi will give a beautiful appearance and provide mechanical protection for the waterproof intermediate layer, all the better since the three layers of the garment are free, somehow "floating".

 According to the embodiment illustrated in the drawings, the pants essentially comprise three superimposed layers, namely a first outer layer of resistance and appearance, a second intermediate waterproof layer 2 and a third inner layer 3 forming a lining.

 These three layers are essentially free and independent of each other except at one end of the garment such as the belt 4 in the illustrated example of the pants, so as to ensure the joining of the three layers and their correct positioning without harming relative freedom floating and deformation of each layer.

The three layers can be joined together at the level of the belt, for example by sewing lines, thermal welding lines or by any other means.

 Advantageously, provision is also made for a few fixing points 6 for the three layers at other ends of the garment, and for example one or two such stitching or welding points in the lower legs so as to prevent one of the layers from rising up unexpectedly. compared to others.

 Due to the construction adopted, it can be seen that each layer of the garment can be formed independently of one another, the three layers being joined together at the final assembly of the garment.

 This makes it possible in particular to produce the intermediate sealing layer in such a way that all the possible seams as marked 7 in the drawings are welded therefrom. On the contrary, the seams 8 and 9 of the outer layer and of the lining can be produced in a conventional manner.

In a satisfactory realization, the following products were used to constitute the pants described
- outer fabric: 100% polyamide with coating of
polyurethane / silicone ;. The fabric used had a weight of 140 to 150 grams per square meter.

 - waterproof intermediate layer: 27% polyamide jersey support fabric with 73% PVC (polyvinyl chloride) coating layer. The layer used had a weight of 300 grams per meter card.

 - inner lining: 100% polyamide taffeta with a weight per square meter of 115 grams.

 Of course, many variations can be made with respect to the example of embodiment previously described. In particular, the compositions and weights of the various layers of the garment can vary in fairly large proportions depending on the uses to which the garment will be destined. In all cases, good waterproofing will be obtained by use of an intermediate layer composed for approximately 20 to 30% by weight of the support fabric such as coated polyamide-dlune coating for approximately 80 to 70% in pdds of PVC.

 The applications do not of course stop at pants, but can cover all kinds of sports, fishing, hunting and work clothes, such as jackets, coveralls, overalls, coats, etc.
